Detroit diesel 671 Governor problem

  • This engine has no idle control. It is caused by a stuck idle control. 2nd time in a month that I’ve come across this issue.

    thanks for the video. I have the same problem with my 4-53. I wasn't sure how far out the low speed plunger was supposed to go but your video makes it very clear that my plunger is stuck. I tried pb blaster and prying with a screw driver but I think I'm going to have to take it apart

    Have you tried using seafoam deep creep penetrating oil its the best I've seen for that sort of thing awesome videos keep up the excellent work

    Mate, would the issue with the governor above cause the engine to Race and rev at a rate I would say is at a full power giving the engine a total meltdown causing damage. The revving was loud...

    What if you have a 8V 71 and the Diesel leaking from the governor box to the head cylinders
