I was thinking of getting the long gun setup. The tlr HL is such a good light honestly all the tlr series have been great.
Thanks for a great review, I think I'm going to look at a different weapons light option.
I think the design is smart you dont want to accidentally turn it to constant with your pad
The only time youd use constant is to hold it on someone after youve already shot them, when youve decided you dont have to shoot or looking around your range for magazines or adjustment caps in with case you can just use the little switch
Good review, I just wanted to add that the pressure switch doesn't click to stay on because it does another dual control. Click and hold for momentary light and double click for strobe.
when you double click for strobe, do have to maintain pressure on the switch for the light to stay on ?
@@geezerp1982 Yes. But look a it this way. This lights pressure switch is "hold-on/release-off" whether it's strobe or not. But, it still has a switch on the back of the unit for "click-on/click off". Even though it's addressed as a "flaw" in this vid, depending on where u have the light placed its actually genius. If u have the light mounted where u can reach the switch on the unit itself as well as the pressure switch then u basically have both options. I used to ABSOLUTELY HATE "hold- on/release-off" and always wanted "click-on/click-off" until I finally realized the difference between "squeeze, target, fire, release". And "squeeze, release, target, fire, squeeze, release".

Mine came with all the keys like 5 or 6 different ones and the Allen wrench to replace them. Just wanted to let people know that I think they are now including these in the kit

Hi, great review sir, I have been looking at the streamlight vir2 weapon light and was wondering if you knew if the pressure pad long gun kit is compatible? Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Can this light be used on a shotgun with picatinny rails? As in an ati Bulldog SGA. Can it withstand the recoil?
I got the fenix pressure switch on my shotgun and its better than a light thats 2x more lol I did buy this one for my ar due to the size ..but my fenix pad has two seperate switches one for on and off the other is the action pad like this one..I just cant believe the 70 dollar setup on my shotgun does more

Can you use the pressure switch to activate strobe?
Yes you can! Pressing down twice (fast double tap) will activate the strobe effect!
@@kazz1896 you have to keep pressing it down to stay on ?(strobe effect)
This is just me, but I think using a "constant on" feature in an actual engagement would be very counterproductive. Think about hitting a speed reload with your light on. Using your momentary in increments would be more effective in my opinion. This was definitely the review I was hoping to find. Thank you for info.

Yes but if you get in a situation where you need to keep your light on someone then you have no choice but to hold it which would not allow you a free hand to do something like use the phone to call the police. There is no reason it's not at least an option like it is on the rail mount lights tape swtich.
You can flip the switch on the light for constant on.

This item is a entire kit, including the light. Don't know if you can get the long gun kit separate or not, look at their website and see if its listed.
Not being able to click on with the switch will probably make my decision not to buy. I have a Surefire with the switch and it spoiled me, I put it on the MPX so now I need another light without spending $300 with a mount that fits my needs. Thanks for the review.
What did you settle on? Also I like the fact you can turn the flashlight on regardless of the status of the pressure switch. This is a huge design WIN imo because if your pressure switch fails with this back plate, you can still actuate the light.
Is this weapon light made in the usa?
The light and box do not say where it is made but if you visit Streamlights website and look at the listing for the light, it does say "Assembled in USA" which is not the same as "Made in the USA". The take away, the parts are not made in the USA, probably China and are brought to the US where they are assembled into finished products.
