Welcome to the Harbinger series, where I’ll be diving into the potential lore and theories revolving around the unreleased Harbingers, and today, let’s talk about the Fifth Harbinger, Pulcinella, The Rooster.
This is all just speculation and theories considering we know almost nothing about the Fatui Harbingers, Pulcinella very much so’ the case. I could just be grasping at straws and you wouldn’t know. Ehe. But yeah, this is all just fun and games and speculation.

I 100% subscribe to the idea that Childe after his conflict with his father could switch his father figure to Pulcinella. He is the one that saw potential in his bloodlust while his own father sent him away and thats where this trust comes from. Childe was under his wing since early teenage years.
Also Hoyo, please make him a Godfather style boss with all the italian influence the harbingers have already

Maybe the tone behind Scaras voice lines about Pulcinella come from his own experiences and somewhat warped look on relations, so he might not see Pulcinellas care for Tartaglia as it might actually be?
Makes sense puncinellas is snez human ruler for his nation... matches the trend. All the others so far mostly have a love/reverence for their archon and would be the best candidate to replace them. Jean,Ningguang,Sara,Kokomi, Al hatham(sorry for spelling) all rule their nation under their archons banner and is loved/respected by its people so with the fatui at the helm puncinellas is the only one that meets those requirements. On a side note makes me wonder about the potential human rulers replacements. Varka for Jean... will he relinquish his position to her and does that make him default anemo user. Al haiham( again sorry) since in the last event he gave up his position who will replace him. Makes me wonder about natlan with a nation so divided how will they get one person to rule over a bunch of nomadic tribes? I think thats another reason we haven't heard or seen of them hoyo has their work cut out.

Ah yes, Klee’s Fatui Hobbit Grandfather: The Middle Finger to Power Scaling, and Ed Sheeran’s Ancient Sensei
Perhaps they are of the same race or similar.. I was thinking that. But in lore crafting you look at everything. Perhaps this harbinger being a political figure is part of the potential playable part. In Inazuma it was "all" political (the political figure: first the shogun and then Ei, making policy, etc. and anyone who didn't fit into ___ was oppressed/suspected) until Ei went with us to see how her "unchanging eternity" affected the people and how regardless of an iron hand things still changed (which is what opened the way for the Sokaku decree to be abolished: seeing a society that changed despite her decree/efforts and how some of the Fatui, etc. interference had influenced the 3 commissions, and dealing with the past [death of Makoto, problems of Khaenriah, 'making peace' with not only Makoto but those of her past and the issues brought up by it- particularly Makoto bought her time via the tree] all allowed Inazuma as a nation to open up).
My personal headcanon is that he’s gonna try to make Childe stay with the Fatui as opposed to siding with Traveller, by holding his family hostage (foreshadowed maybe by that scara line) and Childe sides with him, only for the rooster to double cross him and kill his whole family, causing Childe on a trauma revenge spiral against him lol
Childe like that would be borderline terrifying, he already has no light in his eyes, imagine dark abyssal stars appearing in them…
Interesting theory, personally though I don’t think the Fatui would value Childe that much to make it so they would have something to keep him from leaving

Fuck it I hope that happens, Childe has limitless potential and making him fight the Harbingers would help the traveller. A blood crazed tartaglia would probably make Capitano his bitch 😂

13:00 Mayor is highest ranking official of a town or city, it's not limited to Moscow or Russia. Pick a city anywhere in the world, you're likely to find a person who could be classified as Mayor of it. Jean, Ningguang, and Raiden Shogun in my opinion fit the Mayor role even though they are not called that way anywhere in the game. So Pulcinella is likely Mayor of Snezhnaya City.
The Philippines also has Mayors, they're just not always very powerful. But like the former President was the Mayor of Davao previously.
@@epicazeroth PH mayor's power is directly derived from the size and prosperity of a city, notice how we have Manila, Cebu and Davao mayors quite powerful. I think this could be applicable to genshin too since Snezhnaya is trying to build power through banks and connections.

I think he's somewhere inbetween. He has his own morales and beliefs, leading him to his own path to lead. I think he will ultimately be on the side of the Traveler's but have his own goals in mind.
Mmm surely I am wrong in the future but is it possible that Pulcinella actually cares for Ajax’s family? Pulcinella in commedia del arte can be that, but is also known as the father of other less important characters in the future after the commedia’s creation and therefore the legacy of the character is more known than other fellow commedia del arte characters. I mean like only tartaglia’s family, someone can be an horrible person and still love someone, I’m sure you can think of examples of this in other entertainment works 🤔
A more real world example would be Hitler, he had people he cared for. As for Pulcinella, there’s just too much attention being pointed at the fact he is helping Childe’s family, that it seems likely he is at the very least using them
as aster said in the video, character traits of harbingers sometimes subvert their commedia counterparts. so it's possible that commedia pulcinella being a father was subverted into him not caring about a family.
and she did also consider the possibility of him actually caring in the video.
Pucinella is someone who represents Snezhnaya and he definitely going to be a playable character in the future. And the Traveler is definitely going to trust him especially when he is going to have his own story quest someday
We already had Ei, we had to change her views- her quests were mostly political, so it is quite possible.. we will only know more how possible after Fontaine, it is a mainly THIS IS THE LAW and THESE ARE THE POLICIES/RULES place. Each place has opened up how what 2-3 nations beyond it work. Mondstatd showed freedom and said Liyue was free but it had its archon, it contrasted with Inazuma but only in reverse- as the unchanging eternity Ei tried to keep changed anyway. Liyue showed idealism and principles; a form of freedom but coupled with tradition, Inazuma had all the traditionalism and other of Liyue but much narrower. Inazuma showed the "importance of" tradition/rules and community but had none of the fredoms of the nations before it. Sumeru had the same structure as Inazuma except it was pure politics, If the same pattern is followed in Fontaine it will be about law and social order- a mix of Inazuma and Liyue in a Sumeru like setting with wisdom replaced by Law. And we don't know about Fontaine even remotely yet, so we can't say what Natlan or Shneznaya will be beyond the generic descriptions of every archon of those nations we know of those nations (i.e. one archon saying the Tsaritsa used to be a close friend but something happened).

As for why Mr Mayor takes care of Childes family, I think it’s a carrot-stick situation. If you keep someone in line via threat of punishment, they’ll strike back as soon as the threat becomes empty. But if Childe decides to go rogue, he not only potentially gets his family killed, but has their comfortable lives taken from them. Childe has displayed loyalty and faith in the Tsarista, and caring for his family bolsters that, while also being a good panic button if he decides it’d be more fun to go against the fatui instead of with them
Only he has no reason to go rogue against the Tsaritsa. He is fully dedicated to create the future the Tsaritsa wants. He would at most strike against traitors that go against her.
I will be honest, I'm not even trying to figure out who is who anymore xD So many people were suspicious of Baizhu for so long, more so after the introduction of Pantalone, but he's just a kind doctor (so much so that his voice actor specifically had to say that Baizhu is just a regular, nice doctor who doesn't have shady business or ulterior motives). So after this, despite Pulcinella being sus (Childe not trusting him and Wanderer saying that Childe is stupid if he thinks the Mayor helps his family solely because he's kind), I will say that he's just an old man with power until Hoyo proves me wrong💀
Considering that, judging by the trailer, he is the character who will introduce us to Snezhnay, and will be playable. I think he's just a kind grandfather, and it's stupid to believe Scaramouche. This guy has trust issues.

Personally, I still Hope he’s a Wholesome Grandpappy to Childe. It might win him some Brownie Points with the Community.
Personally I believe Scaramouche, i don't believe any of the fatui would do something out of the good of their heart like take care of Childe's family. He literally gave only half a day to mourn Signora.

About the Mayor title as someone who grew up in Russia: treat it as a singular entity managing the wellbeing of Snezhnaya similar to how Grandmaster Varka is to Mondstadt and Liyue Qixing are to Liyue. Instead of having the Tsaritsa do all the administrative work, she gives that task to Pulcinella to perform as a mayor.
Pulcinella's attachment to Ajax's family certainly raises some questions. Personally I hope its a situation where it started as spying to gain info within the family unit, and turned into genuine care. There are so many ways for threats against Ajax's family to backfire, and I can only hope Pulcinella is smart enough to know threatening the family will not end well.
Ajax is a wild card, sure hes loyal, and competent, but his ultimate loyalty is towards his family. Any whiff of deceit or treachery against them is going to drive him onto a manhunt that will not end until every threat against his family has been thoroughly annihilated. Also, the thrill of the battle? Yea, Ajax isnt running from that potential sport. You get to fight a bunch of Fatui, top ranking officers and guards, and probably another harbinger? That is right up his alley.
You make a threat against the family? Congrats, you are going to die. Actually hurt one of the family? You are already dead, and either they will never find your body, or your corpse will be a new palace decoration.
So if they do go on down the route of making Pulcinella a villain, and making a threat against Ajax's family? It better be damn well written.
As a russian I can say that there no creature made by "russian" slavic which look like "Pulchi". in mythology there also no elf or gnom, only spirits (such as "Domovoy" - Домовой, in English it must translate as Houself, or "Vodyanoy" - Водяной, Waterspirit). About mayor of Moscow, irl mayor here for 14 years and "Pulchi" can be mayor for veryyyyy long time too. I will believe that i write all correctly🥶 hi from 🇷🇺

About the "Mayor of Moscow" thing. If he'll have deers as his pets I'll scream. The joke is that Sergey Sobyanin has been a mayor of Moscow for 13 years now. He's family is from Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug, a very northern region named after the two largest ethnic minorities khanty and mansy, who till this day famous for breeding domestic deer. He has, well, lets say not the cleanest reputation, spreading far beyond Moscow's borders. So people gave him many nicknames, but the most widespread is "reindeer breeder".

Theres somthing about the idea that when we're in sneznaya, childe helps up get through the fatui palace or somthing, maybe with scara/other harbingers we friended, and pulcinela stops us and threatens teucers or another member of childes family and thats his introduction or somthing and thats childes death route or teucer gets a vision or like scara stops him at the last second

With regards to being playable: Given the Fatui's proclivities toward robotics and cybernetic augmentation, I wouldn't be surprised if Pulcinella, at least in playable form, was given something akin to the "limb enhancers" of Steven Universe's Peridot, or some other type of power armor.

He could be Koschei or the Baba Yaga, who knows? Maybe a Bauk or a Bannik too? Nana used to sit me down and tell me the stories of her forebears' homelands, and these come to mind when you mentioned Slavic.

Makes me think if Pulcinella is not only of a different race but also of a different civilization that existed next to the unified civilization or even older.
The fact that he was leading the operation in the chasm where the flipped unknown ruins (in which we still have zero infos about it) is kinda suspicious.
We take for granted everything that is written in sun and moon and what apep said but the primordial one era might more complicated than that. We might learned about other civilizations that existed alongside the Unified civilization.
Civilizations of elves for example that got destroyed during the war with SWC and then its survivors spread across the continent.
Heck the primordial one might have created multiple experimental races before humanity was properly born. Or of things from the dark sea.
I mean the area where watatsumi island is now was once considered part of the dark sea I guess ? Then Orobashi formed the island and its suddenly under the direction of the seven archons ?

Chickens are my favorite animal, and I will be sorely disappointed if a character with an association with roosters ends up being one I do not like, but I'm certainly expecting it to be that way. I'm almost hoping he does actually do something to betray Childe just so we have an excuse to punt the little guy (and also because I'll be very upset if we don't get to see a Harbinger civil war by the time we reach Snezhnaya).

I kinda hope that most harbingers will not be playable because playable characters are limited in what kind of people they can be. It's really hard to convincingly make a full-on villain to be playable, and I do hope that some of the villains stay as villains, not get whitewashed into a "good guy" just so that they can be playable. People like Dottore are too irredeemable for this to work.
That's what I've been saying. But somehow people think it's fine for the Traveler to invite Dottore for some jolly tea time in the teapot.
Taking into account the Fatui Harbingers are Genshin version of the Flamechasers, it seems to be the case. In HI3, all of the female Flamechasers are playable, even the playstyles are based on their codenames/signets. Best guess around half of the total are playable, their constellations are the equivalent of signets which determines mechanics/playstyles.
Or they just make villains be playable and don't change their story and personality.

@idk Or they won't. Even with his new backstory a significant amount of people are still angry at scaramouche for being an evil little gremlin. Imagine the backlash if they just allow a full villain to waltz in and out of your advanture team or your teapot. I mean, they certainly could ignore the backlash, but hoyo probably won't want to risk it. Otherwise they would just release scaramouche without re-write his backstory.
Finaly my favourite and the best Harbringer.
It may be different in other countries but in the USA, every town and city has a mayor and like the rooster, they are the chief executive representing the city. So in terms of genshin, the rooster rules the city of snezhnaya, the tsaritsa rules the entire country
I think pulccinella, Alice and Klee are the same species but Alice may not be as old because she could’ve time travelled to Enkanomiya like Khaenri’ah did
I'm super late but Pulcinella being the Mayor would basically mean he has direct control over the seat of the Fatui's power. It would be a very powerful position as he would be always stationed in their capital, with direct access to command structures.
while factually pulcinella and domovoy are aligned, the vibe is very different. my gut just tells me this ain't it chief and when it starts talking like that its true a lot of the times. Btw I'm very familiar with domovoys cultural representations and I feel like I should mention that when russians mention domovoy they don't mean it as addressing an entity but a class in general, this is because there may be more than one in a household and people living there do not know if they have one or two, hence the address is to a class of domovoy despite it not being a plural. ( this is sourced not from the internet but from word of local mouth when i was there)

The President governs the country
The governor governs the state
The mayor governs the city

What I don’t get is that Pulcinella is the “mayor,” however the nations are sometimes referred to as “countries.” I’m not very good at organizing my thoughts and I’m very tired, so sorry if this didn’t make much sense.

Tbh unless we start seeing some REALLY unique models starting in Fontaine I doubt pulcinella will be playable as he is. Genshin seems to be against diverging from the 5 base models and sadly i don't know if he would be an exception. There's a possibility he would get an "alternate model" like dottore's change from the manga because his current form isn't seen as "sellable" by their standards. I think it would be hilarious if they turned him into a tall hot guy

for a quick explanation on mayor though... in a democracy you can choose a president for your country and a prefect/governor for your region and a mayor for your city more or less
I doubt Pierro doesn't remember Scaramouche, since he's from khaenriah and khaenriah is outside teyvat, so irminsul won't affect Pierro.
He obviously had further plans.
In snezhnaya i predict we will be arrested and taken to pulcinella, and then either as fatui foot soldiers or to set us free with tartaglia accompanying us he has us do some fatui work. Or he’s leading a secret rebellion, as tartaglia is pretty loyal to the tsaritsa and if he wanted tartaglia to join the rebellion against the fatui he could just hold his family hostage. There might not be other things to get other harbingers to join in, though, which could be a reason that he still strangely would choose tartaglia, but this whole rebellion idea is still pretty weird and out-of-the-blue as a concept. If he did indeed lead a rebellion and we changed the tsaritsa’s mind and pierro led the fatui somewhere else so we could still have fatui enemies in the open world, then he could maybe be an ally with our companionship to him being similar to tartaglia’s currently.
We could also see pulcinella be a one-time-playable character, but i doubt that would be the case at all. He could easily just be a 4-star like ningguang and be high-ranking for his management of snezhnayan and fatui politics and also propaganda. He could also be one of the very very early harbingers, like being a co-founder alongside pierro and the tsaritsa, and be high-ranking for his total contributions to the fatui.
I also personally might put him at maybe 700 to less than 1900 years old, since 2,000 years old is a bit old, although we do have ganyu and Xiao and others, so it wouldn’t be totally strange, but he doesn’t seem like a very divine being as far as his aura and my knowledge of him goes.
If he is playable, he might be a sword, polearm, or catalyst user. I wouldn’t like to see him swinging a giant claymore. If he did use a bow though, then i think it would work out actually. If he swung around a sword, then the funniness would be a smaller version of if he swung a claymore.
These are my random ideas for Pulcinella and his story.
All these characters with elf ears, Klee, Nahida, Layla and Pulcinella, but is Klee the only real elf? If Layla is also an elf and she's normal human height, Pulcinella will probably be short male height if he's an elf as well.
pulcinella looks visibly shorter than other harbingers who are on the short side though. he's a head shorter than columbina, who herself is shorter than tartaglia.
anyway, people do start shrinking when they get old, and old people who are really short is definitely something you see in fiction at times, especially with ancient races. in zelda breath of the wild for example, sheikah become very short when they're old. there's also the monster hunter series, which has wyverians (that series' equivalent to elves basically) and they also shrink when they grow old.
Assuming Alice is a Descender, I think the difference here is Teyvatian elves vs another world's elves..
It's probably a similar thing to the Travelers. Essentially humans, (at least physically) but have unique abilities and longevity, compared to their Teyvat counterparts.
Honestly, above all else, I just wanna know what’s up with Capitano (Captain). Their name and title is a contradiction to their actual status, they don’t a have face, their body seems to be made of complete armor, they’re not a political front and they’re not the top 3 harbingers (Pierro, Columbia/speculated, Dottore).
So that begs the question: Who the hell is Capitano?
Maybe like Vader became in Star Wars, attached to a suit to keep living?
@@lkimberly2064 I’ve never watched Star Wars, but that does sound very likely, and would be really interesting lore wise.
Mayors are the governmental and or general leaders of towns/cities. So could be he’s high in government even unrelated to the fatui.
So, traditionally, at least in the United States, a Mayor is the executive leader of a municipality (town or city, as opposed to the county or state) who signs in or veto's local municipal laws, while the council of aldermen is the committee responsible for representing the citizens of the city in the drafting and creation of laws. Essentially, the Mayor is the highest legal official governing over a single town. So, he might be the Mayor of Snezhnaya's capitol city. It should also be noted that the lead official of a country (ie. the king, the president, or I suppose in this case, the archon) is NOT usually the mayor of it's capitol. One is concerned with running the country at large while the other is only concerned with the matters of it's city, even if they both live in the same city, and sometimes these positions have radically different requirements and restrictions.
My main issue with him being playable based on the trailer argument, is if he would be given an alternate sprint talent, or archons forbid, be running around like Klee and the other "small body type" characters.
What if he is keeping the family safe from Arllechino's house of hearth do to some beef between the two...
so a mayor in most western contrys is an Elected government official who governs a town or city . so to be mayor the people have to like him iof that makes sense

In America the President is leader of the country, the governor the state, and the mayor the city. So mayor is just the head honcho on a city level.
