    What you did to make the shield was amazing! That's because I saw a tutorial from another RUclipsr who made the same shield using a much more complicated process. He combined a rectangle with a oval shape beneath it and a triangle for the bottom. It took him several attempts to get sizes right of each shape to finally form the overall shape of the shield. Then, he perform the difference function I believe, to finally arrived at the shape of the shield with the one stroke line on the outside and fill color within. Your method was much, much, simpler! Even before you made the shield I could already tell you know your stuff with Inkscape. Great tutorial covering all the basics we'd need to get started. I must say that this guy is really very good. I don't know him, have never met him but this is a GREAT introduction to INKSCAPE. I was kind of like a guy with a BROWN belt in Karate; I knew just enough to get beat up and not accomplish too much along the way. Just a metaphor, not meant to make fun of someone with a BROWN belt in ANYTHING..
    I should say that I'm a disabled veteran. I enjoy trying to do this vector are, albeit not too good yet. I have tried some other paths and this is by far the best one yet. Thank you sir. I truly have enjoyed this exercise and plan to watch this intro a couple of more times.

On the text to page once i had my cutout circle I just selected the existing "donut" and text to path to it and flipped and slid it around. Was easier than drawing another circle and guessing the size.

    OMG I left my Playback Speed to 0.75 (from a previous tutorial) while watching you...and it was glorious! After watching the whole thing and realizing what happened only did I realize you weren't high or just talked really slow lol loved it all the way man, like being taught by the coolest surfer dude you know. Cheers! Awesome tutorial, subscribing!

    Loved the tutorial. still trying to figure out how to revert my star shape back to normal. but I'll keep watching. There is a lot of information. thank you. I downloaded the most recent version which is a little newer than the one you're using. I've decided to go back to normal as opposed to dark mode. some of the tools are very hard to see. I also don't think I have all the toolbars you show. I'm sure there is a way but perhaps you have to be working with that specific item for the related toolbars to show?

      @@IronEchoDesign I did just run into an issue where after grouping my text with the shape I have it in, I still can't do anything with the guide circle. It's grouped, but I still can't get rid of the guide circle or even move it. I'm going to mess with it more tomorrow. I'm really starting to get the hang of all this thanks to all your videos!!!

    • @IronEchoDesign
      @IronEchoDesign  2 года назад

      Guide circle has got to go! Once you have the text curved the way you like it, click off of everything. The select your curved text and on the Path Drop-down menu, choose Object to Path. Then you can delete the guide circle like its going out of style.
