    Fantastic method. Produces a wonderfully neat and defined rib. I’m wondering what the effect would be to it like if this method was used on both the front and reverse (every single stitch both front and reverse is twisted). I’m thinking if this was worked on, say, a cuff, then it could be folded up and still see this beautiful effect?? Thank you for your very clear and informative videos - as a 69 year old knitter you have taught me so many brilliant tips. 💕

    I watched your video because I have a baby blanket pattern that calls for RS: K7, *(p1, k1 tbl) 3 times, p1, k7* - repeat to end. And then WR: P7, *(k1 tbl, p1) 3 times, k1 tbl, p7* repeat to end. Is there a mistake in my pattern? Should I be purling from the back loop on the Wrong Side instead of what the pattern says? The blanket is also with a 4 ply cotton yarn that keeps untwisting as I knit my practice swatch, and the pattern created by the RS/WS pattern above doesn't look very nice with the untwisted yarn. I'd love some advice!!

    • @SuzanneBryan
      @SuzanneBryan  2 года назад

      I would need to see a picture to see if the directions match the picture. You could try experimenting and working the twisted stitches in columns rather than as a checkerboard. Try it on a swatch. If you can send me the name of the pattern and I can look it up on Ravelry, I could give you more information.

    Suzanne, this is a great tutorial, thank you!
    Can you do a 2x2 full twisted rib? I have been trying to find ANY images of what this would look like on the internet, with no success - only 2x2 half twisted rib (k2tbl, p2).
    Also, I read that twisted rib will not pull in as much as normal ribbing (which would be great for my project). Is that correct, in your experience?

    • @SuzanneBryan
      @SuzanneBryan  2 года назад

      Do you mean k2tbl and p2tbl? If so, this is more rigid than k2p2. Try it on a swatch and see what you think. The k2tbl and p2, is often used when a fabric has a RS and WS. k2tbl and p2tbl is often used when the fabric needs to be reversible. This a great topic for a video. I will make a video on this.

    Hi Suzanne, I’m struggling to find a nice selvedge for twisted rib that I’m using for the collar and bottom of a sweater with slits. What type of selvedge would you recommend?

    • @SuzanneBryan
      @SuzanneBryan  3 года назад +1

      Take a look at this video and see if it helps. It is not exactly what you are talking about, but I think that it relates. for areas that will be seamed, I would use a Stockinette selvedge, and for the collar and slip, I would use a ktbl selvedge edge. But be sure to watch the video first - ruclips.net/video/AfU-6QHNlDw/видео.html

    I've done twisted rib in the round, for socks etc. but wanting to use for a sweater knit flat- should I use this method? What if I only twist the knit stitch on the right side of the fabric and do regular K1P1 on the back side? Will that look the same?

    • @SuzanneBryan
      @SuzanneBryan  3 года назад +1

      For working flat, on the RS rows you work the knits through the back loops, on the WS rows you work the purls through the back loop. Let me know how it turns out. Happy New Year!

    Suzanne asked me to add a comment for those of you who are Combination or Eastern style knitters. If the leading leg of your stitches is not always, or ever, the front leg, you are one of us. If you’re like me, you don’t want to knit into the back leg of a stitch that has the leading leg on the back of the needle. That would either result in a regular knit, or in a double twisted knit which will be extremely tight. You would have to either remount your stitches s they’re Western mount, or you could opt for knitting into the front leg, which will be the trailing leg, and end up with a stitch that is twisted, but in the other direction. I don’t mind that, especially for a rib.

    I am working on a top down sweater with a k2 p1 twisted rib hem. The instructions simply say to use stretchy bind off in pattern and I’m not sure how to proceed.

    • @SuzanneBryan
      @SuzanneBryan  4 года назад +1

      I would use the regular bind off, but work the stitches as if twisted first. Then as you bind off each stitch, let a little extra yarn into the bind off stitch. Happy knitting. Here is a video on how to do that - ruclips.net/video/ipKabBiI44o/видео.html

      When you knit into the yarnover, just knit into the back rather than the front. What that does is close the yarnover. Essentially it create a M1 right.

    How do I untink a ktbl?

    • @SuzanneBryan
      @SuzanneBryan  4 года назад

      Holding your left needle in your left hand and the work on the right needle, use the left needle to follow the path of the working yarn (the yarn coming from the ktbl). put the left needle through that stitch following the workin while at the same time slipping that stitch (the one the left needle is going through) to the left needle, pulling the working yarn free. You will now have the original stitch prior to the ktbl on the left needle and you can rework it as needed.
