Hall & Oates are up there with some of the absolute best!! So many amazing songs. They are tremendous live. Their voices are clear & crisp.! I would love to see them again. Love them
Daryl Hall always was and will always be a multi talented composer/musician. Still singing strong at 76 yrs old. This song was a favorite in the 80s dance clubs.
I love this song! This is from the Big Bam Boom album (1984) that I still have on vinyl! Out of Touch could mean physically or emotionally or both! This is about a relationship on the brink of ending!❤
When I was a Senior in High School in 1983-4, when graduation time was coming, and friends you treasured were all splitting up to go to separate colleges, universities and some to the military, it was a hard time for many of us to have to say goodbye and good luck to people you may not see again. It was the most requested song in radio back in 1984. We didn't want to lose touch with our friends and we wanted our friendships to last forever. Though I'm not in touch with all of my old friends, little by little I find more of the ones I lost touch with. Some are no longer with us. This song brings me back to those great times in youth. I absolutely love Hall and Oates. Thank you for sharing this video and bringing back such awesome memories. I love you guys!!!
Haha this is the 12” version.. we danced to in the clubs in the eightiessss…. 😁🕺🕺 Hall&Oates rule! Great that you listen to them. They made great songs
The Arthur Baker remix. I own the 12” vinyl disc. But, the original studio version is way different. But the live version on the RUclips series, “Live From Daryl’House” is a fantastic way to experience all the great hit Hall and Oates songs with iconic guest singers/musicians.
I was on the fence with Hall & Oates to begin with but they were hit writing machines in the 80's and I just finally accepted the fact they phenomenal pop artists. Hall was working that blue eyed soul for sure.✌
On paper, “Out Of Touch” is a song about a couple that's drifting apart, losing the tenderness that once held them together. Reaching out for something to hold Looking for a love where the climate is cold Manic moves and drowsy dreams Or living in the middle between the two extremes Smoking guns hot to the touch Would cool down if we didn't use them so much, yeah We're soul alone And soul really matters to me Too much You're out of touch I'm out of time But I'm out of my head when you're not around
Oh gosh I remember this song and fabulous drumming - a bit more aggressive than some of their other tunes. Love Hall & Oates. They had soooo many hits. This is pure 80's and was played a lot on the jukebox. Thanks guys for reacting to this one and trying to break it down!😊
This is one of my favorite Hall & Oates songs. They play this in the hood like crazy back in the day. I got to give props to young content creators, like yourselves that gives a listen too the music of my generation with an open mind.
I came across this song on instagram & i got goosebumps, cried and felt like i heard it hundreds of times. I was born in 1984 and my mom listened to it all the time while she was pregnant with me.
This is the “video mix” which relies heavily on the 12” Arthur Baker Extended Dance Remix from 1984. The demo to this was “You’re Out of Touch, I’m out of town!”
This is the tech 80's music. Brilliant music that MADE SENSE. It means " a couple that's drifting apart, losing the tenderness that once held them together"
My interpretation of this song, this is what the cool kids would call a “toxic relationship”. The couple fights and the “out of touch” is that the one person in the relationship isn’t able to connect with the other (selfish maybe) and the other doesn’t want to waste anymore time. However, even though it’s not the best relationship the person that wants to leave is still emotionally attached and can’t get themselves to leave.
They only had 2 top ten singles in South Africa, which is so strange because all their songs were played on the radio all the time, their albums also reached the top ten and one album reached no. 3. This song makes me happy and sad, emotional since it came out, strange effect, and I was 14 when this came out. And still feels the same about it. Darryl's song Dreamtime was a great song as well.
This song was crafted for the night clubs.... Sounds incredible with sound systems designed for dance floors in night clubs.... Brought a lot of "weekend lovers" together back in the decadent 80's LoL!!
This whole album (Big Bam Boom) was fire from front to back. Even the album cuts (non singles) were sooo good. I was just entering high school when this album came out. So many good memories stem from this album.
I was 13 in 1984. My first year in high school. This song really captivated me then when I could turn it up (kind of) LOUD on by el cheapo boom box and get told by my parents to "turn that crap down!". Now in 2023 I have a big garage and over 1kW of sound system (and yeah that is real RMS rating not peak power). Even though I live out of town on a big block the neighbours come around to tell me to "turn it down" even though they agree they don't mind the music :) I recommend you check out the whole "Big Bam Boom" album. Greetings from Australia!
A lot of their huge 80's hits were written by Daryl Hall's GF at the time's sister who ended up passing of cancer at the height of Hall and Oats popularity.
As a young 'hard rocker' I always considered this stuff 'corporate music', but so many years later I know they are just very skilled singers/musicians/songwriters. Out of touch: With our relationship. Out of time: Can't wait any longer for you to choose. Out of my head: Some call this love :)
I always took the meaning as “You’re out of touch” (I can’t reach you), “I’m out of time” (I want to be with somebody now) “I’m out of my head when you’re not around” (he wants to move on but can’t get her out of his mind). Just my interpretation.
Probably my favorite song by anyone though the dance version isn't the best one. The live versions of this song the vocals are just as good. The true test of which singers can sing or not. Glad you reviewed this.
Love this song and the video is fantastic!! Typical Hall and Oat’s!!! Loved dancing to this in my room or the club!! Happy times!!! The re- mix version.. was definitively better!!
This one of my favorite songs ever. And I’m only 26😭 i found this song from saints row 2 in 7th grade and always played it till this day although not this version
"I can't go for that"! And also check the episodes of "Live from Daryl's House"! Here in RUclips! Besides his band; he performed with a new generación of musicians. Awsome!!
*He can't live with her, but he can't live without her.* "Reaching out for something to hold.. looking for a love, but the climate is cold." Their love has fizzled out. "Smoking guns.. hot to the touch, would cool down if we didn't use them so much." They're always fighting with each other. "You're out of touch. I'm out of time. But, I'm out of my head when you're not around." He can't "reach" her and can't wait around anymore. But, he still misses her.
This particular H&O tune was a HUGE hit in the 'discos' when first released and rightly so...walls of speakers and volume cranked up to 11 causing your vision to blurrrrrrr....LOL. Good times!!
The 80s were all about DANCING in the clubs. We we would go out on Fri and Sat nights and literally dance from 9pm-1am and never leave the floor. You would be dripping wet, exhausted, and head right to Waffle house for a 2am breakfast. No kidding... it was a the thing.
There were some extras added musically in the video version of this song if I remember right. The intro especially. The radio version was a little more tame. At least I'm pretty sure.
I can remember back in the day when I was married and had a wedding ring on and you know I have some good looking chick you know I'm kind of hitting up on you you know and I think you know leave me alone you know I'm a family man
@great.dhafor Sorry i didn't write in the good place ? I adore this song. I like very much this remix. It's not very different that the original album version. I love your choices about music.. Thank you very much. Sorry for my english. I adore english but i am French and just learned at school lol.i am passionated by eighties 💕 So different kind of styles. A very fantastic, human, tolerant, generous and BEAUTIFUL decade, so underrated. It was fabulous. AWFUL medias have said so much lies ! Just ignorance and jealousy. I would like to see Artists like Kool and the gang ( so STUNNING j.t. Taylor 💕), Billy ocean, Jody Watley, Lionel Richie ( so much hits), James Ingram, Brenda k Starr, Glenn Frey ( his solo career stunning), Vanity, Kim Wilde, others Falco singles, Prince, Freddie Mercury solo, Alphaville, A-ha, Tina Turner, Bryan Adams, Duran Duran, Wham, Pet shop boys, Paula Abdul, Jimmy Somerville, Matt bianco, etc etc So many great talents
Perfect example of the fun we had in the 80's.. pure pop fantasy. Video was really what sold this one on MTV massive airplay.
In your element 🎉
Hall & Oates are up there with some of the absolute best!! So many amazing songs. They are tremendous live. Their voices are clear & crisp.! I would love to see them again.
Love them
Daryl Hall always was and will always be a multi talented composer/musician. Still singing strong at 76 yrs old. This song was a favorite in the 80s dance clubs.
Don’t sell John Oates short! He came up with tons of stuff - including the basic tracks and theme for this song!
This is a remix version. Greatest duo of all time. Incredible library of music. Still great in concert!
This was certainly the dance club version.
Cannae be doin wi club mixes
its so baddddddddddddd
Yup....extended mix.
This sounds like the extended version played over and over on MTV.
Wierd...
Hall and Oates have alot of soul in their music. They have alot of great songs.
I love this song! This is from the Big Bam Boom album (1984) that I still have on vinyl! Out of Touch could mean physically or emotionally or both! This is about a relationship on the brink of ending!❤

@great.dhafor What's up?
Brad &Lex, you'll love their "Kiss On My List", "Private Eyes" and "Say It Isn't So" !!!
yes I love all there music even going back to she's gone
Good choices, and I will add Adult Education, and I Can't Go For That.
All great picks! Can't go wrong with any of these.
Also great choices
Man they was some HIT MAKERS.
They were on top of the world in the 80s🤘🤘
FACTS!!!
Haha this is the 12” version.. we danced to in the clubs in the eightiessss…. 😁🕺🕺 Hall&Oates rule! Great that you listen to them. They made great songs
Never heard this version before.
Yeah sounds like a crappy club remix
@@Theutus2 nope, official music video version.

I’ve heard it, but heard the original version the most back in the day..
Me neither
The 12” inch version of this was a big hit in the clubs the summer of 85’, it was their last super big hit , Daryl Hall can still sing 🎤
I was on the fence with Hall & Oates to begin with but they were hit writing machines in the 80's and I just finally accepted the fact they phenomenal pop artists. Hall was working that blue eyed soul for sure.✌
He still is 🎶💯

You mean the Roland 808, amazing what that machine could do...
Linn Drum. I still have this optional chip set. Today’s tech is more compressed with Pro Tools. Unless there is something newer.
That's a monument !!! The Best song of the duet for me so far. And they done a lot of hits !!! Outta touch ....
This is one of my favorite Hall & Oates songs. They play this in the hood like crazy back in the day. I got to give props to young content creators, like yourselves that gives a listen too the music of my generation with an open mind.
I love everything Hall and Oates
I love, love, love this song but listening to you two try and decipher "Out of Touch" was awesome!
Great song. They had many hits and one of the best duos in music.
Whenever you hear Daryl Hall’s voice, you’re in the presence of greatness.
Hall and Oates, some good jams. Still bumping their hits in 2023
This album was huge when it came out.
Ahhh, 1984. Bought this album new when i was 11
I came across this song on instagram & i got goosebumps, cried and felt like i heard it hundreds of times. I was born in 1984 and my mom listened to it all the time while she was pregnant with me.
Daryl Hall & John Oates are very overlooked.
They were popular with housewives and office ladies.
Was 18 when this came out, Now 58, And this brings out so many great memories 👍
Daryl Hall is really underrated as a songwriter. All of these songs are so pleasing and easy to listen to.
"Method of modern love" is another great one from "Big Bam Boom"
One of my first cassette tapes!
Kiss on my list is another great song
I saw this tour - The Big Bam Boom Tour at the Oakland-Alameda Coliseum back in the mid 80’s. Sound amazing in person. They sang their asses off!!! ❤
Saw them in concert in 2017 with Tears For Fears and it was a fantastic show.
My interpretation of this song, this is what the cool kids would call a “toxic relationship”. When this song came out, we didn’t have cell phones so out of touch meant that you couldn’t be reached. Period
So many doing reactions really get into the lyrics. I've been listening to music over 60 years I never saw as much of what the song means.
@@amb6899 I hear ya I’m in my 60s for my generation it was about how it made you feel and just listen to it
Daryl Hall and Steve Winwood have the same dance moves...js
Cheers from Idaho
This song always gives me good chills.. I love the vibes.. 🤗😊
This is my favorite song of theirs. I love it!!!
Ya, this and Sara Smile are my favorites

My favourite Hall and Oates tune!!
Out of touch - out of reach. Wow, what memories of childhood. Fun and a better world back then... Congrats on your baby. 💖
Gotta love the 80s, the era of excessive remixing of songs for the clubs.
I saw this tour (Big Bam Boom) they were on fire for a long time, played the Apollo and walked away on top...
Daryl Hall's voice is absolutely incredible!
"I can't go for that"! And also check the episodes of "Live from Daryl's House"! Here in RUclips! Besides his band; he performed with a new generación of musicians. Awsome!!
One of the best Hall & Oates songs! GOOD REACTION, GUYS!
Love this song !
*He can't live with her, but he can't live without her.*
"Reaching out for something to hold.. looking for a love, but the climate is cold."
Their love has fizzled out.
"Smoking guns.. hot to the touch, would cool down if we didn't use them so much."
They're always fighting with each other.
"You're out of touch. I'm out of time. But, I'm out of my head when you're not around."
He can't "reach" her and can't wait around anymore. But, he still misses her.
Great reaction! Gotta check out Hall's solo - Dreamtime and Oates singing on the 1986 Parachute Club hit - Love Is Fire.
This particular H&O tune was a HUGE hit in the 'discos' when first released and rightly so...walls of speakers and volume cranked up to 11 causing your vision to blurrrrrrr....LOL. Good times!!
I can smell the summer of '83 when I hear this one!! 🔊 🎶🎶
The video for this song lolol. What a tune
I think this is a remix version. This isn't how it sounds on the radio. Kinda cool though...
Yes, it's the video mix which is based on the Arthur Baker 12" remix!
Big tip. .don't overthink it

to this day I can listen to this song 50 times a day every single day for weeks and not get tired
My Mid-80's jams ❣
Skip to 1:00 and you'll be sound as a pound. 😉
Side Note: Love this song, and have since I was eleven (the age, not the little telekinetic girl).
I miss you guys, so I'm going back & watching your reactions from before that I missed 🤷
This song gives me the same vibes as the song by Dan Hartman called 'I can dream about you '.
Ah the good old days of GTA Vice City
Hall and Oates rule
The video is inane, but I adore the song. Hall and Oates had blue eyed R and B on lock.
There were some extras added musically in the video version of this song if I remember right. The intro especially. The radio version was a little more tame. At least I'm pretty sure.
Maybe this is the Haulin' Oats version.
That bass line!
GTA Vice City vibes 🔥♥️
This is not the radio version, but it's still good
The 80’s were awesome…class of 1988
Darryl Hall is the shit super soulful
Great song
Check out LIVE at Daryl's House! 🤙
😎👍
the intro is "Dance on your knees"......then the song starts
This the dance mix. Listen to the original or the live version on RUclips series, “Live from Daryl’s House”.
I can remember back in the day when I was married and had a wedding ring on and you know I have some good looking chick you know I'm kind of hitting up on you you know and I think you know leave me alone you know I'm a family man
Always kind of like the song family man but now I'm not a family man so the women they don't have to leave me alone any more

It is indeed. This video mix is based on the Arthur Baker 12" remix.
Private Eyes is a pretty good one, I know Lex would like it
80s banger 👌
