- KAILAS FUGA AIR II Trail Running Hydration Vest Pack 8L Review. A few weeks ago we had a new trail running brand on the channel, Kailas. We tested out a pair of their flagship trail/mountain running shoes - the Fuga Pro 4. I enjoyed how the Fuga Pro performed so I was looking forward to trying out one of their lightweight hydration vests. The Fuga Air II is a 8ltr vest packed full of great storage options and innovations. I've been giving it a thorough testing over the last few weeks and here's my thoughts.
Really hope you enjoy the video, thanks for watching, we'll see you in the next video and as always - stay safe and keep on running!

You definitely do the best reviews on RUclips! So in depth and informative! Love the look of this vest! I'm pretty happy with my salomon and my Nathan vest but I'd love to try this out!
Thanks for the kind words Aaron and I'm glad you feel that way about the channel 👍
I was impressed with the vest and how it performed but if you're happy with the ones you've got, that's great! Thanks for watching and supporting the channel 🙏😊
Thanks for the very helpful review! I was looking for an upgrade over my old Nathan vest and maybe found it now. Just found and ordered it for under 90 Euros. Seems to be a very good deal.
Thanks Loyd for another great review. Looks like a really well considered vest, but it is very expensive and I wonder how well that BOA system will fare over time.
Interesting and thoroughly reviewed kit as always Loyd thanks! A doctor Who reference? How can I not like the video? 🙌
Glad you enjoyed the reference Naim! I was showing my age I think. Thanks for watching and supporting the channel as always 🙏😊
Love the way you can stash the bungees away, great looking vest with so many storage options. I'm still a salomon vest person but this vest could tempt me at some point
It's a really well thought out running vest with lots of great features Sean! I know what you mean avout the Salomon vests though, always my go to vest of choice 👍
Thanks for watching and I hope you are running fit 😊
Awesome review and amazing vest!
Btw, which size where you wearing? And do you recommend to go up ot go true to size?
Really glad you enjoyed the video Angle. I was wearing a medium, I'm a 38-40 inch chest 👍
Hope this helps and thanks for watching the channel 🙏
Tempted to get a new vest and looking at this. Price very close to Salomon though. Thanks and nice review very comprehensive
Ended up buying one. Your review is spot on, this is more than an 8L, bad. Loving it, just not sure if I will use it for WIldstrubel, While I can hold all the mandatory kit, bit tight if the cold weather kit is added. Keep doing great things
This looks like a real smart vest thanks for the review! I really like all of the color options especially some of the lighter choices as it is really hot during the summer where I live and that makes a huge difference. Sorry to suffer the fine details but do you mind looking at what type of zippers they use? In my experience they are one of the first things to break and this pack looks to have a lot of them. That's why I typically look for YKK at this price point. Thanks again!
Can add some long-term perspective here:
I've had the Air 2.0 for over a year now and it's my go-to vest for most medium-long runs and races.
Pros:
- If you run hot like me, the mesh and fabric is super breathable and doesn't absorb sweat (or water) like many other bags and this alone makes the vest.
- The soft bottles are good quality have stood the test of time. I often use them even when not using the bag.
- The ADF/BOA works really well and hasn't degraded at all. The laces are still pristine. Even though I normally don't connect the bottom toggle as it feels a bit restricting, you can still tighten the bag
- the anti-slosh pulls are way more useful than I ever expected them to be
- the white version is a thing of beauty 😍
Cons:
- the outer mesh has degraded a bit, and is vulnerable to ripping and tearing. I've had to patch a small hole with wire thread
- it sizes SMALL. I'm a medium shirt size and the large is just about right for me
- Kailas have unfortunately put a bit of a mark-up on the price as it retails for around or just under £100 in China (where I got mine)
Thanks for all the info John that's really appreciated 🙏😊
Thank you Loyd 😀
No worries, thanks for watching and taking the time to comment it's appreciated 🙏😊
Hi guys. Helpful video Loyd. Here is my like. A nice weekend for everyone. ⛰🏃♂️☀️
Cheers Manuel 👍
Hope you're fit and well and training hard. Thanks for the support 🙏😊
Looks pretty good. Knowing what I like and don't like, the external bottle bungees flapping about would probably annoy me. Also, those laces look very thing, did you not feel they were cutting in at all Loyd?
Which 1 better if compare this and salomon adv skin 5?
the tiny pocket on the front of the vest is perfect for salt tablets, my Nathan vest has a tiny pocket like that and they specifically mention that it's for salt pills.
I know you could use it for salt tablets Christopher but it's so small you could probably only fit 2 or 3 in there 😊
Thanks for watching 🙏
Great review, will it take Salomon softflasks if i kept them as spares?
I'm pretty sure you could use Salomon soft flasks in the vest John. The Kailas bottles would obviously work better but I'm sure you could 👍
Hope this helps and thanks for watching 🙏😊
@@Run4Adventure Cheers, Iv'e ordered a pack and im going to get a Salomon flask with the filter built in for the more remote runs. your video's are top notch, cheers!
@@johnmurphy6162 Cheers John 👍
Looks a belter of a vest
I was really impressed with it, a well thought through running vest 👍
Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment it's appreciated 🙏😊
What size did you wear Loyd?
I'm 6ft 1" and have a 38-40 inch chest measurement and a medium fits really well 👍
Hope this helps and thanks for watching 🙏
@@Run4Adventure are you a medium on the Salomon 12 also
@@DustinHallUltraRunner
Yes I wear a medium in the Salomon Adv 12 Dustin 👍
Does it have space for a bladder on the back?
I went through that in the review Bilal? Did you not see that? Yes you can use a bladder 👍
Hi
You're wasting your time with a hydration bladder and concentrate more on soft bottles.
It doesn't sit well with me they named the Brand after a mountain from a country they occupied & that is regarded by both the Tibetan Buddhists and Hindu's as one of the most sacred of places. There are things in life you should be respectful of
