Sounds like the 6.0 race vest has seen some great improvements Steven. I just got the ultra 6.0 on Monday but I haven't had a change to run in it yet but the updates to the design do look great and make a lot of sense. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and impressions buddy! 😎🤘🏻
Thanks so much for this one Steven! I've been looking for a replacement for my race vest, but it seems like this one is lacking in security. I appreciate your honesty as always! Keep pushing!
Love how they listened to feed back and changed some things up! They really should have kept the zippers on the front pockets. I feel like having zippers comes clutch especially for marathons and ultras.
@@scottphillips2921 Thx Scott. I have been using mine for about 2 months and I have mixed feelings about it. I am gonna a wait a little longer before I put out a full review.
The padding to eliminate chafing is great…zips for pockets like the 5 would be an improvement.. I don’t understand manufacturers obsession with phone pockets though in race vests! I wouldn’t be taking a 200 gram phone…but each to their own. Thanks for the review, I had a look at some UD vests in a shop today and they seem great quality..
Hi Steve Great vid has always 👌 I've never understood why a long distance runner would want to carry a large & heavy smartphone? For myself on a long training run, I always use a small key phone. Scott 🇬🇧
Thank you, Scott. I agree. 95% of the time I do not carry my phone. I just don’t want it. With GPS watches have maps and return to start features now, you don’t really need a phone. Unless of course something bad were to happen.
Thanks for the great review. I just ordered this model on sale for $110.00 Canadian. I was looking for my first vest that I could use for training and racing as I'm getting more into trail running. My training/racing is not going to be more than 26 miles so I don't need something with a huge amount of storage. It has room for a water bladder and is fairly lightweight. I think I will be happy with this. Looking forward to getting it and trying it out. One question, is there a spot on the vest to attach a bear spray cannister to have easy access to it?
Has the heat index been in the 100’s where you’re at ? Ran the other day, and the heat index showed 112 on my phone ( local weather)…. First half, not too bad, but last half ( several uphill’s) was quite a hot challenge 🥵🥵. I know we are in neighboring states, so probably pretty close temp wise ? Great video by the way….. 🙂👍🏃♂️
Yes! It’s supposed to be 105-107 index tomorrow! I stayed on the treadmill Monday and this morning, but ran outside this afternoon. The humidity is intense! Probably good training for Beaverhead as it is affecting the breathing. Thanks, Mike!
@@UltraTrailSteven I was wondering how you did your training in this heat/humidity…….. especially when there’s pretty much zero shade. 🥵. Be careful out there !
The pocket still gets MOIST in there? 😱 hmmm it’s like you have to choose between secure pockets or chafing…I don’t know why they changed the pockets, it doesn’t make sense to keep them open if the main goal is to run…

Thanks, Ben! Definitely some good improvements, but a few things that could be tweaked to make it even better!

I definitely recommend checking out the Salomon Sense Pro 5! ruclips.net/video/zCCzlyO2ZeI/видео.html

Yeah for sure. Losing a headlamp on course would suck! Thanks man!
Damn it, I just bought the Skin Adv 12! Great review/comparison Steven. It seems like the 5 still holds it's own (storage wise).
Oh you will love the Adv Skin 12! Thanks, Sage!
Hi Trailsage
You be happy with the Salomon adv 12L, it's 1 of the best hydration packs I have used & the storage is fantastic 👌

This was really helpful! Thank you! My only concern: beware the Sawyer Mini. Those things don't hold up for very long.
Thank you! I use a filter for my Salomon flasks now. Much easier!

Yeah I probably only carry my phone 2% of the times I run lol. Thanks!

Probably the easiest/quickest access would be to use one of the front flask pockets.

@@mikes7654 you too!
Great info but FYI the upper corner doesn’t appear
Thanks. I see the top right corner vids on the computer, but they never show up on iphones.
Thanks for the great review. Straps for poles look horrible. Definitely a no for me.
Thanks for watching

Nobody likes flapping poles 👀
Good point about the epi pen and filters
Hahaha moist and flapping poles. No one wants that! 😂 😛
I just bought the 6.0 and it does have two zipped pockets on the back. Looks like they modified the design.
Sorry, ignore my comment, I have the Ultra vest 6.0 not the Race 6.0
Oh man I was about to get excited lol. 😂
