Ha David U did not ask but I would combine it with the hive u just had checked that is queen right, I would use newspaper I would use a quen excluder as well because my eyes are bad and I might had missed a queen she could be in there and not laying yet, I would spray the paper with sugar water with honey b healthy I would also cut the paper a bit to help the bees get thue the paper I would come back in 2 weeks and check on the hive and check the top box for a queen again and remove the excluder U did not ask but that is what I would do and have done good video have a great week
Here in Australia rather than feeding sugar water over the colder months, we save a couple of honey frames and place those in the hive when it starts cooling down. It's a lot better than sugar water. Also why don't you use a queen excluder to keep her in the bottom?
I am in Australia and enjoy your videos very much you are so knowledgeable on bees and their workings. You explain things in layman terms so us beginners can understand. I look forward to your next video keep up the good work. 👏🐝🐝🌻
I just found my hive wit empty frames, nectar but no brood and dead bees on the ground so disheartened. Only got this hive in July. It was FULL. We transferred from a Longstroth that was warped and damaged to a homemade long Langstroth. Super thick two by 12s all around in an insulated top as I live at 7000 feet in the mountains. You said you put a robber screen how do I do that? I’m so heartbroken. I do want to save them I’m looking forward to learning what you do
HI David, You mentioned the bees were filling empty brood cells with nectar, yet you also said you would feed this hive to stimulate brood. How does a new beekeeper raw the line between too little feeding and feeding so much the bes just store sugar water? Thank you!
Thank you for your video on raising "winter brood/fat bees" and feeding 1 x 1 feed with supplements. I went through 3 hives that did not have any brood, larvae or eggs in mid Sept. Earlier one swarmed late in Aug that I caught. Another had 8 swarm cells and I x-ed 4 of them and it swarmed and I did not catch it/them. Drones were still flying though. The last hive had basically closed down. I was able to buy a mated queen which was shipped one day before a cold snap hit but I was able to make a successful installation. For the other two with no visible eggs etc. I did a newspaper combine and they blended well but were not really thriving but with the swarm I was back to 3 hives. I put on the 1 x 1 feed mix you suggested with supplements and the swarm and other two hives exploded into activity. I think the cold snap frosted some flowers and it temporarily stalled the flow. I think I will try to be prepared for late swarms to capture them and use them to for resupplying lost queens or building nucs to winter over. I have fed 2 x 1 in the past and lost the most hives any way (I get robbed a lot). We've had night in the 30"s with frosts though days in the 60's + and all bees are still pulling in pollen. One of the best fall activity seasons I can remember. Hobby keeper over 20 years. Thanks!
Dave do you think the queen died or maybe small swarm and also why is the nectar black looking you would think golden rod is lighter color..?? I did a Google search for a queen for sale 3 weeks ago and found 1 in Hansen's honey farm in Wisconsin you definitely ain't finding one now
Hi david. I work for a commercial beekeeper in North Dekota, the bees here have basicly no brood here, temp is still in the 70's but the food source died complete. We currently checking the hives and treating mites. Is this normal for hives up here to almost have no brood? Back home my bee hives i dont have to worry about, our winters are mild. 40's. Regards
Would be great to see see how to combine a 5 frame resource Nuc w/queen into that queenless 10 frame deep w/two Supers. Would you just move the nuc frames into the deep with their queen, or join with a newspaper method?. Also my nucs are double 5 frame deeps, therefore, would you move all their frames over? Thanks.
Very timely video for me. I had one with all capped brood and no younger brood. I need to go in and confirm that the queen is gone tomorrow. I'm a little bit south of you and am still seeing some drones, I might try to see if I can get them to raise one in the meantime while wait I see what you're going to do. Thanks for the video. Update - Thankfully I was wrong, everyone is queen right.
ERRRR!!!! This has happened to me. Yesterday one of my hives i found was queenless. This is perfect timing for me. Hope it comes out soon, the next video I mean. Right now, I'm looking at a combine. I have Qeen cells that are capped. And like you very few drones around. Hope your next one comes out soon.
Let’s get Dave over 100k so he can keep producing these great videos. Tons of free info. Spread the word.
Great info. Cringy Queen dance! Loved it though.
the hive beside that one also doesn't have much activity
Future video to really answer the question if the entrance tells us anything 😀

Thanks David, can't wait for the follow-up video on this queenless hive!
Combine them with another weaker hive with a Queen. Also did I see a Queen cell on the bottom on the 2nd deep ?

Combine or if you have it combine a nuc with a good queen in it to the one with out a queen. 🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞
You are so cheesy in the most wholesome way lol. i love it!
Hi David, Just curious as to why no queen excluder now that you have her in the bottom deep?
Working with bees is relaxing
HI David, You mentioned the bees were filling empty brood cells with nectar, yet you also said you would feed this hive to stimulate brood. How does a new beekeeper raw the line between too little feeding and feeding so much the bes just store sugar water? Thank you!
Good question. Simple. Only feed when you are not collecting honey.

First time selling honey. Is $20 a quart cheap thats about 3.9 oz of honey. Thanks for any info
Could it be possible that there is a queen in there but she has slowed down temporarily due to colder temperatures?
Great video,,what gloves are those?

You said the queen was up in honey super. Does this mean you don’t put queen excluder below the honey super
Yes, check out this video: ruclips.net/video/GH6SwCqC_nI/видео.html
Trying to find out if I can feed honey back to my bees.
Good video David,
If you have two deep boxes and find the queen in a top box, would you just switch the top box to the bottom?
Green frames are they worth it or not

Good stuff David. That first colony is packed out. Fall Beekeeping gets very tricky. Here's to 100k. . That is a HUGE milestone.
