Last year I hesitated a bit on buying this rifle because I didn't like the fact that some of the parts were now being made of plastic. After thinking it over for a long time I finally went ahead and bought the rifle. It is an absolutely fantastic rifle. Once you set your optics, if you miss, it's because of you. This rifle is super accurate, super comfortable and super quality. If you want a rifle that basically needs nothing and is consistently extremely accurate, then this is your rifle. I have it chambered in .308 and love it. The first time you just hold it up to your shoulder you can feel the quality and it only gets better at the range or wherever you are firing it. Great video and great rifle. Thanks for posting.
Just to clarify, having to push up on the magazine prior to removal is not a negative design feature. It is designed that way on purpose to avoid accidental release and loss of the detachable magazine. All detachable magazines should have this very simple yet extremely effective feature.
@@Cm30000 You both are right. It is a great safety feature, especially in the woods where it will probably be lost forever. Cory, you are spot on brother, these darn magazines are definitely overpriced, especially considering that they are made out of plastic. Polymer means plastic. I still love this rifle and I have come to realize that having a rifle of this high quality means you are going to pay extra for anything associated with it. Have you priced the bipod that is from Sako? Lol, I though paying $85 dollars was insanity. A year or so ago they wanted over $400......on Amazon, lol. Where's the savings?? At the end of the day this is like getting a custom rifle for the production price when it comes to accuracy and quality.
Ive been looking at the exact same rifle. Ive heard of people having problems with rounds popping out of the magazine once you load it. Have you had this problem?
Atlasworxs makes aluminum bottom metal and aluminum bolt shrouds for this rifle in Australia. The stock is made by Bell and Carlson in the USA. All are still currently available.
A friend bought REPR/Reaper and didn't feel the need to keep his Sako A7. Sold to me with 20 rounds through it, for $500. It does feel like a custom build for sure.
Oh I want one. Just looking at a great deal. But I love my normal Tikka's too much, they seem to shoot the same. And I'm cheap as f. lol But I like the mag catch idea. As well as the thicker fluted barrel. Just such a beaut too. And in my fav cal 7mm mag, I gotta do it. sold.
I got the same gun in 7mm replaced the trigger gaurd bedded the lug and tang shoots quarter moa with factory hsm ammo and half with factory eldx 5 shit groups
Don't tell me you boys in the States get this thing for 1k USD..? That's around 820€..? For a brand spanking new Sako with a 24,5" hammerforged, stainless fluted barrel, full aluminium block bedding and a premium synthetic stock..? Here in Finland, where they are made actually, us jerks have to cough up around 1500-1600€ for one.. That is 1800$/US.. Up yours everybody.. :/
I bought mine about a year ago for just over $1,000 U.S.. I even hesitated because they are starting to make some parts out of plastic. Glad I didn't wait too long, the rifle is fantastic. Too bad you guys no longer actually own the company because I don't think there would be any plastic on your Sako's, just your Tika,s. Anyway, it's a great rifle and extremely well built. Congrats and thanks.
StPaul76 same here in the uk this model is around 1300 pounds Stirling, but at least they not made here, I will have to get one of these in 243 win ,I have 3 sakos , can't have enough sakos class rifles
Sako a7 super quality gun for the money. Same quality gun will cost at least 1000 dollars more. 3 shoots Magazine is the only pro blem but one extra Magazine for a7 costs only 80 dollars. Why pay same money for much worse gun because of 5 shoots Magazine? When you can buy extra Magazine for only 80 dollars more? Good job sako with a7 👍
Thank you for this great Vid...how does the stock feels - is it a kind of softtouch or ist hard like the cheep aftermarket stocks. I can't find any Informations about the Barrel diameter...is it a normal 17mm oder medium 19-20mm? would be great if you can help me...
Really, stop saying "sub-MOA" at a hundred yards. Sub-MOA means the same damn thing at 100, 200, 500 or 1,000 yards. It's a floating measurement, not a static one.
The rifle always has shot sub MOA for me. The only time it hasn't was when I allowed a new shooter or bad shooter to shoot it, lol. That is the truth. This rifle is super accurate.

I have this in a 7mm rem mag, an outstanding weapon. Great shooter out of the box that will deal with whatever weather conditions you can throw at it.
What are you using for a scope? I just bought the same gun and cant decide what to use for scope.
Kyle Buker I use vortex viper hs lr, I have the 7mm
Ruben Rodriguez I ended up buying a vortex viper hs 4-16x50 yesterday!
Kyle Buker haha that's exactly what I have on sweet you will love it

With the subtitles on, when you say sako it reads it as " psycho" haha.
I'm from Australia and we pronounce it like say-ko , not suh-ko

Paid $700 and 800 for roughtech Range model.
Does Sako still make the A7?
Sadly no, but there are still plenty of new, never before sold ones out there

hi nice video, what is your powder choice for it?
Thanks for the review. What make & model of bipod are you using for the review?
Thank you for this great Vid...how does the stock feels - is it a kind of softtouch or ist hard like the cheep aftermarket stocks.
I can't find any Informations about the Barrel diameter...is it a normal 17mm oder medium 19-20mm?
would be great if you can help me...
The stock is not like a cheep aftermarket. It has a rough texture. I will have to get the barrel diameter for you.
How do you find the aluminum bases that come with? Did you have to glue and locktite them down?
It comes like that. You need to do nothing to it.
What scope mounts are you using?
thanks for the upload, but this is powerfully boring. It sounds like youre reading a pamphlet. We need some insight

BS on you, is a standard at 100 yards or 100 meters. If "sub-MOA" were "floating" as you say as a standard the term would be meaningless.
+Peter Southern Boy looserounds.com/2015/01/19/moa-and-mils-summed-up-nicely/ Learn some shit. MOA is an angle, not a distance.
Yeah because it's guaranteed sub moa at 100 yards not at 2000 yards
Jared Smith sun Moa mean @ 2000 yds it will group within 20"
Does the Sako A7 live up to the 5 shots MOA or better at 100 yards every time?
+That Crazy Wrap Mom
All the ammo that I have shot has. It is a great rifle.
My sake a7 shoots just over 1/2 inch at 100 yards! Very pleased with accuracy!
Your "question" is more dependent upon you the shooter than the rifle.
The rifle always has shot sub MOA for me. The only time it hasn't was when I allowed a new shooter or bad shooter to shoot it, lol. That is the truth. This rifle is super accurate.

👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Sounds like a robot reading Google narative not experienced knowledge
Another almost good product. unfortunately it is tailored for the Merican market with plastic and only merican calibers.
It's a crap ejector design. Shells flying up and bump the scope, than get back in the rifle
