“Why not? Let’s add a broken nose.” I had to laugh because I think I’ve gone through most of my life with this attitude. 😂
Hello Nicol. ❤ I love that you continued to record despite all the little bumps in daily life that cause interruptions. Dogs bark, memory cards get full, and kiddos get boo-boos . . . it's all part of life, isn't it? I hope this last little bit of sickness you've been contending with is the last you have to deal with this year! Great use of your dresser, and oh look! Another surface to seasonally decorate. A win, win in my book! 😊 #palette
Great video, Nikol, I hope you are healthy for the rest of the year!!
For your question on what to do with extra yarn from a sweater and keeping if a hole needs to be patched, a tip I learned from the Yarn Harlot, Stephanie Pear -McPhee.
When you are done your sweater, take 2 or 3 metres/yards and weave this long piece of yarn loosely (maybe catch a stitch every 2.5 to 3 cm/ 1 to 1.25” or so) starting at the hem of the sweater, up vertically to the underarm and down the arm and then back to the hem. This way, when you wash/block your sweater, this extra yarn will be washed with the rest of the sweater. If you try your mend something later with the original yarn and it has been well worn (& then washed a lot) or a bit of dye comes out the first few washings, there may be a colour difference. Using the extra yarn woven into the sweater will guarantee a great colour match when mending. You could probably loosely weave in a second piece of yarn on the other arm/underarm/hem if you were concerned or dealing with a child’s garment.
#palette
You need to be careful doing this. If the yarn is non-superwash, the yarn you weave in can felt and you won’t be able to get it out to use.
Great idea. Thank you for sharing.
Love the idea of using the dresser and adding it to your living room. Hope you feel better soon and your son is ok. I was looking up the yarn when you announced the giveaway. #palette
Love the idea of using a dresser!!! I’ve never tried the #palette! I’ve heard great things! I hope you have your sickness behind you and glad you’re feeling better!
Another wonderful video!! Thanks for inspiring us to use what we have and sharing your thought process!! I hope Sammy’s nose isn’t broken and you guys have a better March!! #palette
Aww Nicole bless you, I’m alway sorting out my yarn cupboard and it always feels fab 😊😊😊
I hope your son gets better soon. I love how you organised your yarn! The hand dyed yarns look amazing 🤩 The #palette yarns look so warm, I’d love to make a scarf out of it!
I love seeing how you're storing your yarn. Great podcast. #palette
Nikol=inspiration 😁started out giving my neighbor trundle beds, donated huge bags of stuff. I have 3 bookshelves of yarn (4th in box still), a tall bookcase of spinning fiber, and a table/desk. I bought bulletins boards before I started to keep me inspired 😂🤦🏻♀️. Hoping to get a rush of energy to keep going. Thanks for another great episode. I wind a couple of yards of extra yarn to tack somewhere inside the sweater along with an extra button.
My husband's knitted scarf went through the wash, and I was fortunate enough to have the leftovers (in a color and amount close to your mother's yarn) to fix the large bite sized chunk that the wash machine took out of it. The yarn was a discontinued rustic tweed, and not the sort of thing I usually keep around, but having it was a lifesaver. That remnant won't take up much space if you decide to hang on to it.
I also organized my yarn into a set of drawers recently and entered my stash into Ravelry. I, like you, buy yarn for specific projects, but I have not been able to knit as fast as I find projects to knit, and I have easily a 2-3 year backlog. I quit my subscriptions and put a hold on new projects that I don't have yarn for already. I am also challenging myself to pick out outlying skeins and big remnants for ventures into new knitting realms (I'm making an Emotional Support Chicken out of some Berroco Vintage), and I find that tremendously satisfying.
I enjoyed your video today. Your home projects are coming along nicely!
I hope you are getting plenty of rest so you can heal up.
I thought the same thing about the Knitpicks #Palette yarn, but I was pleasantly surprised! I decided to give it a shot holding it double with itself for a hat (because the colors
Glad you are on the mend and feeling better. It was so nice to see all your lovely yarns in your stash and how you organized it all. #palette
Hope you are feeling better Nikol and love how you are using the dresser/chest of drawers in your living room. I smiled when you said you have too much yarn, you really don’t in comparison to many us, myself included 😅. #palette
Impressive stash! Thank you for sharing!
I just love the color of your dresser! Just perfect for yarn storage. #palette is one of my favorite yarns for mittens. I love colorwork mittens. Great video as always
loved seeing how you organized your yarn, even the #palette yarn. Take care of yourself and your family!!
Your bureau is beautiful and perfect for storing your yarn. Love, love love the organization. Thanks for the inspiration.
#palette
Love that you were able to find a nice organizing solution for the beautiful yarns. I love being able to view my yarns easily. The #palette yarns look so nice. Thank you for sharing.
Hi! You have a beautiful yarn stash. Love that dresser. That is quite a sock collection. :) #palette
Enjoy seeing how other people organize their yarn! I use the #palette yarn to make color work wall hangings
#palette
I love how you are using the dresser you refurbished for your yarn storage. Very practical and a beautiful accent to your living room!
Love your podcast content! Love the way you don’t force yourself to knit just for content! No pressure knitting !! #palette
Love that idea of having stash yarn in the dresser, I have never tried knit picks #palette colors look lovely. And omg how do you thrift find yarn? Goodwill? Those are good deals. I hope your son doesn’t have a broken nose and is feeling better. ❤
I totally understand what you are saying about your stash. That’s exactly how I feel. Running out of closets and drawers. Too many project bags too. I have bags inside bags inside bags.
I love your yarn stash! It’s gorgeous; all the hand-dyed yarn is so beautiful! #palette I would love to make a shawl with those different colors!
I really like the chest of drawers idea for storing your stash. The color you painted is makes it easier to combine it with living area furniture. I also have an overwhelming stash that I have been trying to get under control. Thanks for the tips! Hope you are feeling better. #palette
I am always reorganising my stash… love the drawer unit ❤
It is so nice to see you more often. You are inspiring me to get organized #palette I hope your son is ok.
Hi Nicole. I hope your son's nose is okay. My daughter broke her nose and it was awful. Anyway, I loved seeing how your organized your yarn. The #palette yarn is very pretty. It makes me think of Christmas. I keep a small amount of the project yarn in a little bag (the shear ones yarn usually comes in) and I have a basket with a lid they all live in. Lovely to see you as always!
Oh I wish you felt better. Enjoyed watching you organize the dresser. Nice storage idea #palette
I also shop the furniture I already have when decorating rooms! And move things around - new placement can make a huge difference! It drives my husband crazy though 😂 #palette
Love the idea of storing yarn in the dresser. I definitely need to try that. The #palette yarns look lovely.
Love the dresser idea for storage! Definitely easier access than a closet system. Thanks for the idea :) #palette
Hi Nicole. You are an organization inspiration. Don't know that I could ever be so mindful with my yarn, but I can continue to try. Thank you for taking us on your stash update. Hope your son's nose is OK.
#palette
I love the way you think and process things. you are an encouragement! #pallett
Love your idea of storing your stash in a dresser. I’m currently using clear bins which makes my room look like we just moved in and haven’t finished unpacking yet. Glad that you’re feeling better and looking forward to your next video. #palette
Oh wow! I have a 9-year-old and he hasn't yet broken his nose, but I'm sure the day is coming. Thank you for such calm and peaceful viewing :) #PALETTE
#palette. I love using furniture for other purposes and spaces than the normal use. I think it gives a home a creative and special look! I love all the changes/updates you have been doing❤
#palette I do hope your son is ok!! Also, I think a dresser in any room can be useful and appropriate! I use to have one in my kitchen!
That looks like a great place for the dresser. I admire your discipline to keep your stash in that one dresser. I dye most of my yarn, using mostly knit picks but haven’t tried #palette
Hi. I love the idea of using a dresser for yarn. I had a dresser in my living room in my old house, new house too small. The #palette yarn is pretty and will make a great project. Hope your son is ok and you get back to 100% soon.
Thank you for sharing your stash and thought process of how to organize them. I’m a new knitter, but longtime fiber artist and really enjoy your videos. I hope your son and yourself are feeling better soon! #palette
As always, Nikol...great episode! ❤You’re very generous ... #palette I just finished knitting the “Lidia tee” using this yarn, and absolutely love it. I combined it with an alpaca and it’s very cozy.
Love, love the dresser in the living room! Here’s hoping your son is okay. I’ve never used #palette yarn as of yet, however, the colors and yarn look so inviting!
I like the idea of having a dresser designated solely for yarn and tool storage. May copy that idea. Also love the #pallette colors. Have a good week! :)
Thanks for the inspiration! It’s time for me to organize my stash 😅 #Palette
Love your channel! ❤
Glad you're feeling better. #palette
I love the dresser! Especially the color 💙 #palette I hope your son’s injury heals quickly and with character 😊 thanks for a great video. I love that it was real and still about things we all deal with as knitters 🎉
#pallet- I love seeing all your yarn and that you are setting boundaries. Hope you feel better.
I was feeling your pain! I’m just getting over being ill myself and appreciated your effort to get through your organization project. As always I enjoyed every minute. Your content is always encouraging and lovely! #palette
You have inspired me to sort through and organize my stash. It's easier to use it when I know what I have.
Thanks for your podcasts. #palette
All the yarns is very beautiful. I like all ur yarn collections, even ur “left over “ yarns is longer than my yarns. #palette yarns is so amazing. Thanks for the chance to win. Good luck everyone
The dresser is a nice addition to your living room. #palette. Hope your son is ok.
Don't worry about conventional if it works for you. We have a really small two bedroom house. We no longer entertain anyone. I did buy a cheap particle board set of 9 cube shelves for yarn. we buy new for one room (lol, except for that cube....we haven't bought anything in 25 years! Well, a craft light) and used good furniture for the family room. My son was always hard on it. #palette
OH no! I am sorry you are still not feeling well! I hope with the coming turn of weather you will be feeling better
❤ Hugs…feel better! I love looking at other people’s yarn stash😊
I’m enjoying your podcast so much. It’s one of my go to’s. The #palette yarn would make a gorgeous striped project! I really like the colors.
Enjoy watching your channel and like how you organized your yarn. Can't wait to see what you make with it!!! Would love to try the #palette yarn!! Hope your son's nose is ok!
Thanks for sharing your stash! Have a good week Nicole. Glad to hear you are feeling better. And also your poor son's nose!
I think I am about the same place with my stash as you are. It is so much faster to buy the yarn than to knit it up! My most effective way of stopping myself (besides the “there will always be more pretty yarn” mantra), is to write it down. If there is a yarn I want to try, a pattern I want to do, I write it down. I have list of “wants” which is ever evolving (because, believe it or not, in a month or so you probably won’t want that any more). I tell myself not to buy unless I am ready to start the project. It slows me down. Some…
Love how you're using the dresser for your yarn. It's beautiful! #palette
I finally finished my Musselburgh Hat this week. I was glad to get it off the needles. #palette
I have to go through all of my stash, too! No more single skein purchases because I think it's pretty. I am also making the Battenberg Blanket. I'm using my leftover sock yarn scraps for that, along with a solid cream. Love your pallette yarn. I'm definitely up for that! Hope your son's nose heals fast! Poor guy. Have a great week. See you in March. #pallette
I love the dresser you’re using for your yarn! It’s beautiful and such a great idea!! My nose hurts just thinking about your son. I hope he’s okay. Thanks for sharing your gorgeous #palette yarn. ❤
So sorry about Sammy’s nose! 🙏🏻 I keep some yarn for mending when I finish a project. With socks I’m not concerned with it matching; if I have some of the same color I will use it, but I’m not worried if it doesn’t. With a sweater mend, I think it would be interesting to have a different color mend…it can tell a story. Just my thoughts.
My brain is struggling with ‘What do I do with whole skeins that are leftover from a sweater project?’ I bought the recommended amount of yarn yardage wise, knit my swatch, got gauge, followed the pattern, and then there are leftovers. A lot of leftovers and I don’t know what to do with them. 🤷🏼♀️
Continue to feel better!
Yes I keep the extra yarn of finished garments. My daughter brings her shawls to me for washing and reblocking. She wears them a lot and I have been happy that I have the yarn for mending.
The knit picks COMFY I love for knitting THE LITTLE COTTON RABBITS animals by Julie Williams.
Lovely video - I enjoyed the simple living bagel video as well. I love that Palmer Yarn subscription and am a fellow FDF Sock Squadder 😊 Stay well. #palette
I really enjoyed watching you organize your yarn. What a great idea to use a dresser in the living room! #palette
Hope your son is going to be ok......but he has a good mom to take care of him. Love to see your stash...I need to organize mine. I agree that I need to use what I have but unfortunately i need to buy more to add to what I have to make anything like a sweater. But I'll work on it. And I have used the #Palette before and love their colors. the colors you have coordinate so well.
I love how you have organized your yarn and are moving furniture in the house to different rooms to redecorate. #palette
Good morning glad to see you again I hope you are feeling better and your son.rember it will get better and you are loved.i wish I could have all the sock yarn like yours it's all so beautiful.have a good day.❤
Love the dresser and your stash. I’ve always been bothered by a large stash too, need to actually knit with it. I have a friend who knit an all-over color work sweater with #palette and it is just lovely!
It feels so good to organize and purge. I love the #Pallet yarn. You have a nice selection! Thank you for sharing your thought process.
I really enjoy your videos! I also use dressers in unexpected rooms. They are great for hidden storage. Your yarn is beautiful! Hope your sons nose heals fast. Have a great week! #palette
I love your podcast, I hope you feel better soon! #pallet
That was fun seeing and hearing how you organized your yarn, Nikol. I REALLY want to enter for that Knit Picks yarn but but but oh heck #Palette LOL I hope you feel better soon and I hope hubby is ok!!! 🙏🏻🌸🌷🌻💕
Love your videos. I'm definitely gonna try out the bagel recipe. I haven't tried #palette before, but I keep hearing about it everywhere. Gotta give it a go one of these days. :) So sorry to hear you're not feeling well. Hope you feel better very soon!
I really enjoyed the podcast. I need to go through my yarn stash. Everytime I do, I find yarn I forgot about. It’s like getting new yarn. LOL #palette
I love the dresser in your room! So pretty. I was thinking of fingerless gloves using the #palette yarn.
Love your dresser for your yarn stash. This is my first time watching you channel. Thanks for sharing your journey and yarn. #palette
I enjoy your videos so much! You have some lovely yarn and the #palette yarn is beautiful. Hope Sammy is okay.
Love to see how you organise your stash. Thank you for sharing. #pallet 😊❤
I love how your dresser turned out! #palette
You have a lovely stash Nicol! I feel the same about my stash, no need to buy yarn this year, but s hard not to! I love getting my Sock Squad sock set every month, it is my favorite subscription, so most likely I’ll still get it next year. I hope your son’s nose is not broken, we believe my middle son broke his nose when he was 3, no bleeding or severe swelling so we were not sure, but years later we found our he has a deviated septum! I hope you have a good start of March with no sickness, and plenty pf knitting time.❤#palette
i haven’t tried #palette yarn before! the rusty colored sweater yarn you have is gorgeous!!
Hope Sammy's nose is ok, but it was still an interesting video. I think it was Amber from A Lovely Yarn Podcast that mentioned recently that she was planning to make Winglet Mitts
by Sachiko Burgin out of some Knit Picks Pallette yarn because the yardage of one ball is perfect for a pair of the mitts. I hope March is a better month for you and your family!
The knotty pine fiber collection is so dreamy! 🤩 #palette
So fun organizing your stash! #pallette I just washed a batch of socks! I love seeing all the colors! Do you have an absolute favorite sock pattern? I do alot of vanilla socks, but once in a while I go through a ribbed or pattern phase❤️
What a fun stash and I would love a chance to win this #palette . Thanks for another great episode 💖😘
Love that idea of a yarn dresser. #palette
❤thanks for ur podcasts🎉🎉
Love them!!!
Hope u feel better and ur son ok!!!!

I love your attitude of life - "why not?" Life is a journey and takes time, we are always growing and changing so why not our space too.
#palette
That knit picks #palette yarn would make a beautiful scrappy cowl or scarf. Lord hunny I know the feeling of ( yes pls just keep pilein in it.) Sometimes it seems never ending. Keep looking forward, this to shall pass as I remind myself. 😅
You have been so inspirational. Love your podcast. Your home is beautiful. #palette
#palette drooling over all your sock sets! 🤤
#palette....you are a delight. My first time finding you.❤
These #palette colors would be perfect for a the Christmas stockings on my list to knit this year. 🥰
Love #palette yarn. It's great for colorwork. I made the Mitten Garland Advent Calendar by Kathy Lewinski which includes 24 colowork mini mittens.
I hope you are on the way to feeling better. And your family. Seems sometimes life stuff just happens all at once. Also I’m in…. #palette
iI love that #palette. I never keep my sock sets as thy came. Love to do the mix them up.
