Isupport your motion to get an ackie monitor and put it in that awesome tank! Also, now that I've see it, I really want one of those tanks for my bearded dragon!
I mostly use wooden enclosures and I just seal the inside with wateproof kidfriendly wood glue. You mix it with some water and just paint multiple layers on the inside. Works great in my experience.
@@kariross8120 There's vinegar based sealant made for aquariums that I use. It's not toxic but you still want to air it pretty good. The smell is horrible haha.
@@sum12stupid4u Any solvent-free wood glue will work. That's basically what kid friendly glues are. I use a german brand called "Ponal", I'm not sure if it's available outside of germany tho.
Clint obviously hasn't did much research on ackies since they need a supstratw that's very wet which would rot they also need 1 and a half foot of substrate this enclosure is unsuitable plus ackies need a 6ft long
Loved it. Also if a beardie happened to open the door it would just be sitting there with the terrified look of 'Hooman! Close this door, I could get out!'.
Thank you, Clint and everyone at Clint's and Zen Habitats. I really dig the Zen look, but I had reservations. They are doing PVC now, and I really think they are super nice. The aluminum rails are so sexy (I'm an engineer, we are weird), and their sizes and prices are as attractive as the whole look of them. The open upper cabs they make are PERFECT for hiding lights. Love it!
My bearded dragon has a Zen Habitat. We love it and I think dragon Rayne loves it too. We did NOT get ours for free, but thought the price was incredibly reasonable. It took my husband and me an hour to put it together. We had to hammer down all but TWO of the connectors. I honestly don't know how other people in videos make it look so easy, because it wasn't. And for us, the doors do not go in and out easily. It is a struggle. But the cage is SO BIG and sturdy, and not heavy for how large it is. I put a really beautiful linoleum down to protect the floor. My basking area is big and tall, so my UVB (a T5) and basking light rest on top of the screen top. Our set-up is awesome. Beautiful to look at, beautiful to look IN. I couldn't be happier with my Zen.
Clint, I have to say. I am so happy that I found this channel. I found you through Emily, and boy am I glad I did. I've been completely enamored with Emily and her raw passion and excitement about working with reptiles, even after all the years she's been doing it. She's just so overwhelmingly positive, I can proudly say that I've now seen every single one of her videos after just under a year of being subscribed to her. Then I decided to check you out, because any friend of Emily is a friend of mine (I'm a fellow Wisconsin girl, I might be a little too attached to her because of it lol). Boy am I glad I decided to check you out. You have such an overwhelmingly positive presence and I can't help but smile every time I watch one of your videos. The excitement I see in your eyes when you talk about your passion is like what I see every day at my job. I work at a candy shop, and every day, I get to see kids come in and nearly lose it because they're so excited. The kind of energy that I get from you, Clint, is so pure and refreshing during a time where the reptile community is getting quite toxic. You, Emily and Alex from GoHerping are the only places I can stay sane and constructively contribute to the enjoyment of reptiles with the whole spider ball python thing going on right now. I want to personally thank you for being such a powerful source of positive energy in my own, and many other people's lives as well. Whenever I'm getting fed up with the community, I know I can hop on over here and have a positive and enjoyable time. You've saved me from going to bed steaming mad many nights now, thank you for that. Keep up the excellent work sir. I hope the passion stays with you forever. 🦎🐢🐍
The substrate shield could help keep the lizard in. Also I imagine running a bungee cord from knob to knob behind the enclosure would keep the lizard from opening the door. I bet you could bring one of the panels in to Home Depot and new panels cut of a new material.
Yes please. I would love to see more reptile enclosure and even reptile product reviews! They would be extremely helpful, especially for newbie reptile owners like myself.
This is the one I plan to upgrade to for my uromastyx. Currently using a 24x18x18" which is a plush condo for my baby for the moment. I will definitely be ponying up for their mat in lieu of actual substrate. It will have plenty to climb on and a "swimming pool" filled with coconut fiber. I love how easy to clean a uro is. Best pet!
I second the decision to make an enclosure for an ackie, mostly because I intend to get one some days (once i settle after my PhD), so seing a build video for them from my favorite pet youtube channel would be awesome :D.
the PVC composite is poorly made and it scratches and chips easily. It's very very thin and flimsy and even someone like GoHerping showed the truth about it. Wish I had listened to him than Clint on this.
Build it for an ackie!! I'm planning on getting one and would love to see your setup! Also I love that you're expanding the types of videos you do! Best channel ever.
Yes please build it for an Ackie, I want one really bad, but have worried about finding the right enclosure, and this looks great, and I agree I would replace the wood with pvc
Clint! I know this enclosure is too small for a BCI but I am dying to see you do an enclosure setup for one, you're the only one I trust because I know you love boas so much! My vote for this specific enclosure is uromastyx :)
My concern with this build is the bottom edges. It's not sealed so substrate would get wedged in frame super easily. Also, one runny poop and you're going to have to disassemble the thing to clean it.
Watched all the way to the end, and whadda ya know? I was actually planning to suggest building it for an Ackie. Loved your video about them, and would love to keep one sometime in the somewhat distant future. They seem so cool.
Uromastyx or a red ackie monitor, something with high heat. You could use a liner down before you put the substrate to help with some moisture. Collared lizard maybe?
Please more video on tanks and setups! Could be a great enclosure for a northern blue tongue skink, with something to allow for a thick substrate layer
You should try your hand at custom foaming it and making a bearded dragon enclosure. Ive seen a few other custom foamed enclosures on other channels but I think you could bring your own ideas to improve the process. The foam would also help hide and protect the bamboo.
My first enclosure was for a beaded dragon. It was 36” H x 24” D x 72” L. I bought the dragon as a baby and put a barrier to make it 1/3 the size. Opened it up as he grew. I had a cabinet maker constructed for me. Charged me $150 for it. I only had to buy tinted glass and the railing. I was super satisfied with it. I waterproofed the bottom and later added a hood to conceal all the lighting. Looked and functioned fantastic. That looks like garbage to me, in every respect.
I'm a little behind, but I'm so glad you did a review of this. I have been looking for something for my bearded dragon and my ball python. We have been trying to price cages vs building our own and the Zen's have caught my attention. I will wait to take a look at the Zen when the PVC is released for my ball but it seems perfect to my bearded dragon!
I REALLY like this enclosure. Its esthetically pleasing unlike most. The only thing I kinda dont like is the mesh top for humidity. But it slides in so that's a easy fix to replace with wood, PVC or whatever material if need be.
I'd say a collared lizard community tank would be nice in that enclosure. Ackies of course as well, although I'd imagine they'd be more prone to scratching up the acrylic doors.
The National Geographic terrarium has a really nice cord pass through that might benefit Zen. It's big enough for large plugs to go through, but has a slotted cover that seals to the cords. The only thing I don't like is that it's not waterproof. Even with PVC panels, water can get between the panels and rails. I think they need some type of silicone gasket that can squeeze in the channels and around the panel edges.
I thought Ackies needed high humidity burrows? If you sealed the inside of the wood with Pond Armor, could probably get away with moist substrate, but adds about $30usd to the cost. I don't know if this can be a bioactive setup tho, foreseeing leaking and bugs getting out (silicone seal?). Fantastic video, love this new product review style 👍👍👍 though you might want to try 2 camera angles so we can see you and the product better. Overall, score of 4.8/5 😁
That's what I said! I have an ackie and it seems pretty essential to his regular shedding to have damp substrate in his burrowing area. I'm open to seeing how he plans to do it though.
Sadly, GoHerping's video is more accurate than Clint's.... I am going to sum it up- low quality materials... both the bamboo and pvc- not to mention bamboo isn't a good material to use in the first place.... the frame is weak and cheaply made.... the customer service is horrible and they do not honor their warranties. Bought a few of these and only one of them was relatively "ok" and even still it rattles whenever the animal moves(a beardie) and its just completely horrible. Highly disappointed in this. Went with this because of Clint and now I will be taking his comments with less trust.
Blue-Tongued Skink, Uromastyx and Australian Water Dragons are the lizards I'm most interested in getting, so making the enclosure suitable for any of those would be really ideal for me! (I'm pretty sure Water Dragons need a vertical enclosure though so I'm mostly just voting for the first two.)
Heck yeah, I'd love to see an Ackie set-up in one! Mostly because an Ackie is on my wishlist, so I'd love to know how to set one of these up for one whenever I get around to being able to afford it.
I like the idea. But I have a need to house a 10 pound snake. Will the bottom floor panel bow? Do I need to put a support under the middle so it does not sag? I wonder.
Just bought the pvc version of this enclosure :) It’ll take a while to ship out/get to me, but I think it’s going to be worth the wait. Anything for my beardie
