I really like that you talk about the bad stuff, it's relatable. My year has also been hard, having to juggle jobs and a masters degree, taking care of the house without the help of the other people that live with me, family death, pet death, and mental health. A mess.

Also, I am processing my 19 year old cat’s worsening health 😢 I’m scared the pain from losing her will be so bad that I’ll never be able to recover. I can relate to your immigrant trauma because I am Chinese as well and moved to Austria in 2002 when I was 7. And even though my mum is not a business owner, she is a dental assistant/hygienist, she also had very high expectations of me. I took this as a research topic when I did my bachelor degree in Culture Anthropology to understand the way I grew up better and IMO it is due to how they were raised in China. Chinese culture is very traditional and very demanding. The concept of parenthood is very authoritarian in China and children are expected to do everything the parents are asking them to do, even when their kids are adults. They have never learned how to express love in a healthy way, so that is why they are not able to express it in a healthy way towards their kids. And guilt-tripping is very common and a powerful tool, which a lot of Chinese parents use, and my mum is no stranger to that. Chinese parents also have a tendency of not taking creative jobs seriously, and I feel that this is a problem all over Asia. I have struggled with this for a long time, especially when I was still living at home. Being treated like a kid, even though I was in my mid 20s, was hard. I did not grow up properly, because my mum didn't give me the space to. The reason why I was still living at home, was because my Uni was literally 10 min away from my parent's house. I had to move away to another city and with the support of my partner to actually be an adult. This was a necessary boundary. In 2021, I was actually diagnosed with a light depression due to immigrant childhood trauma by my therapist. So, it is really a thing. Therapy had helped me a lot with navigating through my trauma and also how to deal with my difficult mother. Now she has accepted that not taking my creative side seriously was wrong, because yours truly with a BA in Culture Anthropology and soon MA in Global History can't find a job in my field, because they are mostly looking for artists. Maybe you give therapy a shot as well, it might help you with navigating your feeling in this time. I hope that you can take some time for yourself and your mental wellbeing in 2024 🥰

You're the only good youtuber I know for reviewing Cbeauty and Kbeauty stuff!! No one introduces that stuff to the western audience like you do
What I found helped to ground myself and understand what was going on in my brain a bit more was trying to distinguish the difference between being anxious and something being a result of anxiety. Everyone has been and will be anxious but it becomes more serious when it turns into anxiety. From there, I try to give myself more room to work on myself - trying not to beat myself up as much for certain things that occur within myself and externally. I hope this makes sense!
There is so much sinophobia, online and in the real world. When people review and praise kbeauty products, viewers don't really question or challenge the creator/product. But when there's a viral/highly praised cbeauty product, there's always so many comments questioning the creator (especially if they're chinese) and the quality/reputation/reliability of the product/brand.
Since you love c/j-beauty and those products excite you most, I think you should steer in that direction! Do what you love ♡ Also, I think your content will give cbeauty a positive platform and will help destigmatize chinese products.
Your work will spread awareness of the beauty and quality of chinese products!

Edit to add as i kept watching: I knew a guy who was forced to work part time at his parents grocery store. Asian grocery store immigrant family whole thing, he hated it but that was just "what you do". Its tough.
I adopted a cranky old man of a cat once and only like two or three months later he had an eye ulcer rupture and basically put a hole through his cornea. Had to get a skin graft over it... That was an ordeal... Then he got a tumor in his ear that we diligently tried to manage until finally it grew against his throat and one night I was feeding him and he couldn't swallow. I knew right then and there that it was time to set up a home call vet to come and let him go and he passed peacefully 36 hours later 😢
There is nothing wrong with seeking help or asking a doc, anxiety is a problem if it interferes with your ability to live your daily life, as someone with diagnosed anxiety having the diagnosis can be a huge help in getting access to the right therapists or meds etc 😊
2023 was a shit year for me too, currently dealing with a ringworm outbreak so all of my cats are in jail (kennels) and I have to bathe them... Hope 2024 is better for both of us 😅

oh sweety I'm so so sorry for the passing of chips 😢 I totally get it though, I'm a cat mom myself and I don't let my cats outside (they are used to being indoors ever since they were little) but I go crazy every time there's something wrong... and honestly, they really are like children and they are my whole world, I think it's hard to understand for someone that doesn't think like that...and you're no downer at all, it's perfectly fine to tell what makes you sad, mad or anxious (as long as you're comfortable with telling us, please don't feel pressured!) and i hate that we always have to justify that there's bigger problems in the world so we have to play our situation down. Yes there are terrible things happening and yes there are people who have it worse, but there are also people who have it better. If you're not directly involved with the events in the world, you can't feel the emotion attached to it, however you very much can feel the pain that's surrounding you directly and it's absolutely valid to acknowledge that pain. In case you're a little interested in astrology, maybe look into your birth chart for your saturn placement, because you're around the age for a saturn return and that time is hard af, but it will pass and you will be rewarded for it.

You are so SOO strong. I can tell from the years of following you that you take care of sooooo many people and animals in your life. I can tell you put others before yourself. So please don’t feel you are complaining or your problems aren’t that big of a deal. Loosing a pet is like loosing a person in my opinion. Pets are like people you know…and I’d be said if I couldn’t see them ever again. Its hard. Please know you are ENOUGH! I know things can get crazy and go out of control, but know you are human. We fall, we trip, and hey sometimes we land on our face 😂 but if you can walk out the door even with mascara dripping down the face that still makes you a FIGHTER. Keep fighting, keep expressing yourself the way you want! Love you lots! ❤

2023 was also a roller coaster year of for me. I passed probation at work, got out of my team with a terrible boss and switched divisions. My new boss is much more helpful and understanding, and everyone on my team is super helpful. Then after a wild series of events, I decided to end 2 friendships for my mental health. After all the drama, I feel like it was truly a blessing in disguise, because I'm much happier now.

My baby boy cat passed away a few months ago at the age of 15 years. This was our first Christmas without him and it was hard. He loves Christmas. I completely understand how you feel and I have a teenage daughter and other animals and they are all family. 🥰
I recently found your channel because I was searching for flower knows reviews and I bought some of their products (which was my first time trying cbeauty makeup) and I love them! I’ve always used kbeauty products but I’m interested in cbeauty. I’m Japanese and I find kbeauty works well for my skin but cbeauty seems like it will work even better but it’s hard to find reviews so I look forward to your videos on them.
Btw I feel like we are quite similar 😆 I thought I was the only introvert who literally gets headaches after going out and seeing people. I’m also a cat lover and this year was rough for me too because I had to put down my last cat I own (also my last pet 😢) in November due to cancer. She was 17 years old and super healthy until she developed a tumor in her jaw, broke my heart so bad and it was the most stressful time in my whole 26 years of living. 2023 was an emotional rollercoaster for me and I just hope that 2024 will be a lot kinder and chill year for me as well as for you 🩷
