I get asked a lot about whether being a practicing attorney is like being a lawyer on TV. I love watching legal movies and courtroom dramas. It's one of the reasons I decided to become a lawyer. But sometimes they make me want to pull my hair out because they are ridiculous.
Today I'm taking a break from representing clients and teaching law students how to kick ass in law school to take on lawyers in the movies and on TV. While all legal movies and shows take dramatic license to make things more interesting (nobody wants to see hundreds of hours of brief writing), many of them have a grain of truth.

Not a lawyer, but I learned the value of writing a really nasty letter or email, then letting it rest a bit and editing out the worst of the nastiness. The subtle nastiness that can be achieved this way is epic.

the attack, defense, face down was a reference to Yu-Gi-Oh!. A card game.
For more context here, cards in 'Yu-Gi-Oh!' (the card game in question) can be played in several different positions depending on which type of card they are, and this causes them to do different things. While I'm not familiar with the exact mechanics, unfortunately, generally speaking one position allows the card to defend, another position allows the card to attack, and I believe face-down is for trap cards? Which are essentially cards that are hidden, and have an effect and trigger condition - Both of which are hidden to the opposing player by virtue of the card being face-down. Or something along those lines.
Woodledude, please do your homework. As a die hard yugioh fan/player/collector let me break it down for you.
Monster cards have 2 positions (face up/down Defense position and face up attack position)
Spells and traps ONLY have face up or face down (not positions just placement)

When I was a kid, my mom watched a lot of Law & Order, and since we only had the one TV, I watched with her. At one point, I remember going and asking my dad what they do during recess. I mean, as an elementary school kid I knew what I did at recess, but I figured it must be different for adults.
My dad told me, matter-of-factly and with a straight face, that they all go out to the parking lot and play roller hockey. So for years, even after I realized he was screwing with me, I had this mental image of an old dude in judge's robes and goalie gear.
My dad now says he doesn't remember telling me that, but him and my mom both agree that it sounds like something he would say

charlie ox Sure, in a wonderful utopian society where everything gets done super fast and correctly and doesn’t upset anyone, it’d work that way. However, sadly enough, RUclips’s Copyright system is a genuine dumpster fire.
Honestly, the most likely scenario would be that he’d get automatically claimed, he’d try to get that claim removed, RUclips would send out an autonomous email that said his video was reviewed manually and they thought it had copyright-infringing content on there, and he’d be stuck with a demonetized video.
That’s the state of YT right now; companies can claim whatever they (or, I should say, their bots that scour the depths of RUclips to find even the tiniest tiniest resemblance of their content) deem fit, and it’s damn near impossible to get that claim revoked.

A truth I struggled to accept all through college.
And a difference that could mean getting your motion granted, and/or winning your case.
Truly! Because the professors, more often than not, want you to get it written AND get it right.
This gets in the way of most any kind of book writing and journalism.
For a journalist it's most important to get the accurate WHO, WHAT, WHY, WHEN, WHERE, and HOW. For a novelist it's important to get down as many words as possible. First drafts are supposed to suck. Novelists have to unlearn the "being perfect" impossibility of university.
@@ginnyjollykidd On the novelist part, couldn't agree more, that is part of the reason why me and my co-writer for the personal project we are working start out the process, as a text role play to help set up the basics and figure out what are important details, and what is needless filler only good for overall word count.

the Orca meme has another level at which the lawyer would be objecting, it is not only prejudicial having the word "Killer" in the name but also a misrepresentation as Orcas are Dolphins not Whales.

What you said about _Law and Order_ reminds me of a story my boyfriend told me. When he was in high school, he was a really big fan of the show _Narcos_ and would watch it all the time.
