If you’re law enforcement, you better make sure the ignition is off before reaching in to grab your suspect.

Some definitely would consider it a lethal weapon, and would potentially feel justified. I've seen enough instances where it has to know that it's not recommended, especially if your known and considered armed/dangerous. That could have ended really badly for everybody.

The charges will most likely be dropped. You can't open and reach into someone's car without identifying yourself as a police officer. The male officer realized their mistake and finally yelled out "Police" AFTER the car reversed and crashed. Not even the cop cars had their lights on. They'll be lucky if the driver doesn't end up suing them for emotional distress, PTSD, and damages to himself and his vehicle. Another criminal goes free, and all because the super heroic female officer forgot to say one word, "Police".

Officers initiate a traffic stop; then UNLOCK car door while distracting driver to suddenly snatch & grab the driver. This driver may have committed a crime; but police are acting criminally. No officer should follow this new training instruction. It is dangerous and could have killed this officer or maimed her for life. officers are putting their hands inside cars to unlock doors for a seatbelt violation.
