Zero complaints with my 4spd minicab dump but I only use it around the property and to run errands in town. Even when I had my 5spd it never saw highway speeds but you can also get pretty much anywhere in NH using backroads. Great video!
9th generation DC51T (4x2) Suzuki kei trucks have their engines mounted on the middle of the truck, while DD51T (4x4) have their engines mounted forward, just below the cab. If I am not mistaken, this kind of engine placement also applied to the preceding year model ('88-'91 8th generation). 4x2 = middle engine, 4x4 = front engine
Man thanks for all the info. These trucks can haul very well at slow speeds. When I was in the Philippines, one of those who were converted to a bus that's haul 10-16 people. I couldn't believe my eyes.
We have a '95, 4x4, 5 speed. F6A engine. 657cc and around 40hp. These trucks are fun and can do serious work or Off-roading. We also used it to bring water up the mountain to our vac. home. Loaded one ton of water and 3 people. Steep up. 1st gear. Never a problem. Outstanding Quality made in Japan and parts are cheaper than old Chevy's.
Well I have a question about a kie van 2002 miti minicab has a cracked windshield 4x4 5 speed high and low range needs tires and a good bit of work from what I see what do you think it's worth if it runs
6:28 - Speedometer shows a little over 80 KPH (50 MPH). Pan up, and there's a 25 MPH speed limit sign. Oops. Great real world kei truck experience video. That's what first drew me to your channel - the POV driving videos with your comments of how it felt to drive the kei truck. I live in town and drive in town. There are some expressways where the speed limit is 55 MPH and everyone drives 65 MPH. I like having a 5 speed that can go 110 KPH without blowing up, even though most of my driving is only a few miles at 35-45 MPH max. It's nice to hop on the belt line and zip around to the other side of town like a real car. I also love having 4WD and the low ratio transfer case, even though I use that much less often than winding out in 5th gear. I mostly use 5th gear to econo-cruise at 40-45 MPH. The 3" foam arrived today so I can reupholster the seats. I already have the gray pleather. Now I'm waiting for the California shipment of the seat heaters after the Chinese eBay seller sent one when the auction was for four heaters.
Appreciate it man, yeah I think 4wd is great if the person needs it but for me living in nyc I NEVER used it. I wish JDM Hawaii had a Daihatsu deckvan I wanna do a pov drive in one of those so I can see if it’s worth buying
@@Waybeforethefame - I used 4WD today in the park. Took my 91 year old mom to watch the dogs in the dog park. I parked downhill on gravel. The kei truck is very nose heavy, and the nose downhill had almost no weight on the rear wheels which spun in gravel. I'm still waiting for the need for the crazy low billy goat low range gears for serious off road. I love the looks of the funky deck vans but every time I think about using one, I'd rather have more van space inside than the very short bed. Love the looks but it keeps adding up as the worst of both worlds. I prefer a full size pickup bed for truck things and I prefer a 4-5 person van with a large interior cargo area at the rear for van things. Arguably the best value would be a kei firetruck that was very well maintained with less than 10,000 km.
The closes i could do in my country is 80kph on my suzuki every de51v, which is already that point kinda scary, especially when if i go any further i might experience death wobble which is my fear when driving that van, but if i were in a smooth freeway which i dont have in this province, that 5 speed could go above 80, but its kinda loud so yee. Interesting video btw :D
I wouldn't ever buy a 4 speed unless it was for offroad use only like on a property with some acreage and only going 30mph max. The extra gear is well worth the slightly higher cost especially since on most of them, the 5th gear is overdrive.
Hello! I’m 13 and can’t drive yet so this comment isn’t important. But, i was wondering what one you would recommend as a first car. Here in massachusetts it’s cold in the winter and warm in the summer. I also don’t need to be driving in the highway either. Thanks for your time!
Personally I wouldn't recommend any RHD or Kei car as your first car, driving RHD in a LHD world is hard even for experience driver so i think first you learn how to drive a normal car then jump in the RHD life. But if thats not the answer you want i would say a kei van or car. Lots of room and a little easier to drive than a kei truck
Eh. The speed of the vehicle isn't really the scary part. It's sending the engine to the high end of the RPM's for extended period of times that feels the most bothersome. If I throw my wide tires on to widen my wheelbase by about 4 inches, it handles like a small hatchback. Those skinny stock wheels are only scary on turns.
To add to that: if you're getting death wobble check your suspension and make sure it's in good shape. Any vehicle is scary over 80kmh/60mph with bad suspension.
@@jpnkyari oh you mean the crash part itself. Yeah, sure. But at 30kmh a Honda acty crushes like a coke can on the nose. Getting in a kei car period in the US is risky.
As someone that daily drive kei cars and just did that crazy roadtrip, I still believe getting a 4 speed for highway driving just isnt worth it long term ESPECIALLY when getting a 5 speed is usually not much more $$ lol
I definitely have driving my kei cars well over 80klm and 5k on the rpm BUT it’s with a 5 speed lol and idk why they do that it’s also the same people who say these get 40MPG
@@JimsEquipmentShed I get about 30-32mpg in the city, staying at or under 4.5k rpm, shifting at 3k all through 1st to 5th. After I hit the highway it drops to 25-27. Mine definitely needs a carb rebuild though. I can only assume EFI gets slightly better.

video clarity is great, sound is great
great little 2wd truck, less stuff to tear up and better acceleration than the awd stuff, and ac is a plus
100%! 2wd is great for most users

Wow! Is this truck runs in premium or regular gasoline?
Just regular 87
If you had the 4WD, the transfer case pushes the engine forward. To where the air filter is under the seat.
Yeah my 4wd carry engine was wayyyy closer up I was wondering why it was so far back
I love these kei trucks where the entire sound system is in the deck itself 😂 I wanna knows how good (or bad) those radios sound lol
You can barely hear anything over the engine noise. A small Bluetooth speaker is much better lol
Good feedback on the 4 speed. Looking to get a carry soon
Yeah you should
My 5 speed van, I'm comfortable over 100kph. Against the wind, that's pretty much top speed😂

I have a '96 Every Van with the same engine. It likes higher revs and mine shifts better at 20, 40, and 50+ kph.
