      I was expecting there to be some kind of malfunction or disaster as a result and the company going out of business or something. I was surprised that they only lost internet. Safety checks are there for a reason. When you stop doing them it's only a matter of time before disaster strikes because of it.

    First story cracked me up. Mad props for OP.
    Second story is a major HOLY HELL moment. It reminds me of my old job where my managers (before the pandemic) would look more into the employees, showing they cared more about their associates than volume/profit. Then they got replaced with dipshit incompetent managers (during the pandemic) who didn't know what they were doing and people started quitting left and right because the managers worked everyone to death (worse than the usuals) on a non-stop basis and more and more associates were getting hurt on the job due to exhaustion and lack of sleep, and all they (the shitty managers) cared about was the profit. I was one of the ones they "tried" to keep me around because I was "the best" and "hard to replace", then one day they fired me because I made one mistake (I took some snacks and drinks and forgot to pay for them because I was both beyond dead tired and in a hurry to get to my work area). The looks on their faces when I said "okay" in my No-F's-Given tone will forever stay etched into my head for laughs (their looks were basically 😳). I was about to quit my job anyways because they started screwing me over on paychecks, saying "it's only money", as their way of getting back at me for putting them in hot water with the higher ups after they started talking shit about me on the radio during production.

    First story. If every area has different rules then it is up to the supervisor to inform the employee. Just create a "one pager" set of instructions for each area and provide it to the float team or attach it to the schedule.

    • @DarkLobster69
      @DarkLobster69 Год назад +8

      I really am not too sure if that story is all that true. The supervisor just dismissed the complaint after hearing op’s side? Hospital sanitation story: Two of my adult children work at the big local hospital. My son was in EVS (Environmental Services/the janitors) but transferred to a different department while my daughter worked EVS, quit and went back a year later. Her current position in EVS is to clean the OR's and there's a LOT of detail that has to be followed. Like any other place, you've got your jerks and slackers. My daughter went in for her shift one night and was called into the office, saying she hadn't cleaned one of HER OR's the night before. That got cleared up quickly. It was pretty easy to show that the night before was one of her scheduled days off and that she had never clocked in. A short investigation later and it was discovered that one of the lazy jerks had signed HER NAME to the check-off list and never even tried to clean that OR. He was fired. It wasn't his first strike.

But they were forbidden to use any of the Starburst Flares as the civilians would confuse them for chemical weapons being launched in the villages. One night Dad and his fellow soldier wondered what the Starburst Flares would look like if shot into the village. So they launched one, knowing they would catch hell by their command! He said the villagers were racing hysterically about in the village, thinking they were under a chemical attack! Sure enough they were contacted right away by command wanting to ‘now why they had shot flare into the village. They said that due to the fact that they had no lights on illuminating their position, that they mistakenly fired the flare off as it was pitch black at their post. So they ended up getting off the hook, for shooting the flare.

    There's game called Borderlands 2, and as a side quest, your supposed to set up a shield system for a small oppressed village to protect themselves from a larger corporation that have mortar cannons. It sounds weird, just go with it. The entire time you are out doing things, you are constantly hearing a man named Dave belittle the town's leader, who is a woman, with sexist remarks, telling her that "she would only be needed if the town needed a big sandwich" and that she couldn't even make a shield system because women aren't smart. In the end, we are asked to test the shield system by going over to the large corporation and firing a mortar at the town. And the town's leader just "forgot" to turn the shield on and "accidentally" gave us the wrong coordinates for a mortar shot, directly hitting Dave's home and sends his house tumbling down a cliff. The happiest ending to a quest I have ever done. As the town's leader very nicely put, "Do you want to know what the best thing about Dave is? He's dead."

    A coworker buddy of mine was in an engineer batallion in 'nam. He drove a bulldozer. "Rules of engagement" said he wasn't allowed to fire unless fired upon first. Yeah, right. If he "saw anybody sneaking around in black pyjamas" he would pull his '45 and send a few rounds in their direction. He constantly got reamed for it, even spent some time in the brig. I think he also got busted one rank, not sure after 30 years. "But you'll notice I'm here to tell the story."

    During the Vietnam war American soldiers used dogs to sniff out bombs and find snipers. The Vietcong put out bounties on these dogs and their handlers. Snipers would track troops then ambush the dogs at night. One day an American sniper protecting a platoon saw a flash of light and fired in the direction of the flash. His bullet went through the Vietcong sniper's scope unaliving him.

  • @camarofan2008
    @camarofan2008 Год назад

    Story 1: first off i am on OP side here but the way the story is presented is questionable. Let me explain if op was in a meeting with their director and HR manager with the case being dismissed then they immediately open a claim on Steve, Steve would have grounds for a retaliation lawsuit/claim as OP and everyone at the meeting admitted it was Steve who filed the complaint. Second telling Steve and the group of the outcome of the meeting and the resulting strikes on Steve's conduct report. Again this could be used by Steve as a targeted campaign by OP and management for wrongful(we know its not but hey legal system) termination. I'm glad op got a positive outcome but the story is just feels kinda overblown in events.

    The last one leaves a few holes. I'm not saying I don't believe it, just that without more details it doesn't make sense. How were they harassing the people? I'm guessing based on the context both of the rest of that story and the one it was in response to that it had to do something with sniping, but then certainly that would qualify as getting shot at which would allow return fire. Like, even if they were intentionally missing, how do you know that? Are the orders "don't shoot back until one of you gets hit?"
    And if they weren't harassing them using guns, then how did they know it was the snipers who were doing it, or how did the snipers do it in a way where they thought they were hidden?

      Lots of strange things went on in Yugoslavia in the 90's. I remember stories of the British soldiers "borrowing" bicycles so that must have endeared them to the locals. Another one was a sniper in an abandoned building taking pot shots while a high ranking officer was visiting. He ordered an armoured vehicle to spin around and hose the building down with a chain gun until the problem went away. It did.

      @LittleParody Год назад

      Because the world can still be pretty LGBTQ-phobic these days, a lot of LGBTQ people prefer to stay quiet about their identity, either for the sake of their mental health or actual physical safety. I mean, as you saw in the video, the man has said stuff along the lines of "You're only a lesbian because you haven't met the man who can fuck you right", suggesting that a gay person could be fixed with "good heterosexual sex" (Such phrases are commonly used against Asexual people too, because society is so sex focused). Additionally, some extremists will actively go out of their way to physically harm LGBTQ people rather than just verbally harass or threaten them. So it's not always safe to openly be LGBTQ, which is why it is a somewhat important detail. Especially when the story regards a misogynistic, overly conservative rube like the one in the story.
