So, in case you are not familiar with "hormone" in the Japanese culinary sense -- it is offal, organ meat and other such bits, mostly of cows and pigs, that is sometimes believed to be a power-building sort of food.
I like the efficiency of the room. Two beds, enough room to be comfy, shades if someone needs to nap while someone is up using the lights, a bit of air conditioning. As for the night meal....I wasn't expecting a packet of internal organs to be available. That's kind of awesome. If there was a little bit of sake or beer to enjoy before going to bed, that'd be a fun snack. The Game Room being closed sucks, but I dare you to name another ferry ship that has a 24/7 dining area and an arcade in America.
Thanks again for your great Ferry uploads. Wow so many vending machines to be topped up. I do like the little Ferry gifts you purchase. I look forward to your next adventure. Adam from the UK
Quite misty in the morning while approaching the dock. When it comes to bunk bed and train berth, I always take the lower berth as I have some phobia about the upper berth. On the whole, you always fail to disappoint us by uploading all the wonderful videos about Japan! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
In all these videos with vending machines on board, not a single one was jammed or had the product get stuck. Definitely a better ethic about designing, maintaining, and stocking than here in the USA.
Thank you for the video! It’s best to translate ホルモン as offal. It looks like it was pork, right? For other viewers, it seems that ホルモン (horumon) may be a multilingual derivation/pun, hence the katakana. In Kansai-ben, 放る物 (hōrumon) is discarded stuff, whereas the Greek ὁρμῶν (hormôn) means setting in motion. Eating ホルモン is suppose to make you more energetic and lively, which tracks somewhat with organ meats being high in various vitamins and minerals. It’s not good to eat too much too often though!
"Hachinohe factory area is always lit." I know exactly what you mean perfectly clear. But I still laughed because the American slang meaning of "lit." Thank you always for taking us on your journeys.
Reminds me of the ferry that my family took to get to Macau from Hong Kong. You can either get a bunk bed like this, but they were all in a common large room on the ferry. Or you can get a airline like seat in a large hallway and watch tv.
Late night meanderings again ... such a night owl you are ...lol. Not my style of a room with my phobias of small spaces but it looked comfy and spotlessly clean. I would be lost with those vending machines. Thanks for the foggy journey. Bushyboy Oz.
I'm curious - what exactly is salted hormone? I'm not sure if it's a bad translation but google isn't helpful for figuring it out! Thanks for sharing your travels!
Hormone-yaki (ホルモン焼き) is a Japanese dish, consisting of broiled internal organs of pigs, cows and poultry in the shape of large and small intestines, stomach, liver, heart, kidney, lungs, etc. This dish used to be served only in Korean barbecue restaurants. However, ready-made packages with already seasoned organ meat have been widely distributed in the supermarkets, so that anyone can quickly prepare this dish at home.
I have been on ships at sea in foggy conditions before, and they seem to operate more or less normally, but they did sound the ships horn every five minutes or so to alert other passing ships of their presence, which could get loud.
Also radar to locate other ships and such things as bridge pillars -- sometimes (especially on sailboats) you'll see these things hanging on the mast (three flats at 90-degree angles from each other) that are made to reflect radar signals far better than a fiberglass hull can by itself 🙂
I think the room was too small for 2 persons especially for stranger but luckily you stay alone for this trip. In my country Aomori apple juice is very expensive a very small bottle cost about 300 yen.

This was so nice. I sat with my toddler and narrated the trip for her. She really liked the vending machines, we don’t have many like that in the US so it was quite the surprise for the 2 year old! Thank you for sharing!
I've stayed places where I would have loved to have those vending machines instead of having just junk to eat. However, there's no way I'm sharing a room with a stranger. Leaving port at night is different than leaving in the day - there's something melancholy about it.
Iirc you can sometimes get the rooms to yourself if you pay extra -it's just not worth it if it's not busy because they don't double people up if they can help it.
Hallöchen Itsuka, thank you, your video made me dream again. Feels like holiday from everyday life. Is there any way I could support you? Have a nice day, スティーブン 🤪

Me too! More thanks!
Offal is delicious.
Gracias por la aclaración.
Yo no puedo con ellos.

We dont have that in America. Were still behind on alot of incredible things.
The Bento boxes and food vending machines particularly.
We don't have 8 hour ferry rides, in general.
We don’t have them because it makes no sense to have them in the United States.

That was the coolest apple juice container I've ever seen. And the stamp card was really beautiful!

That handkerchief and card artwork is really nice!
That fog was really strong that day!
Thanks for the great video as always!
Thank you very much. I've done a lot of ferry travel, but this was my first experience with fog and it was very interesting.

New sub, love the intimate travel tours.
Thank you for a pleasant video

This was a fun video. The top bunk is a good choice. You got to control the air. Plus if someone is going to be sick it's better to be on the top.
Thank you. I enjoyed the trip and hope you did, too!

Beautiful Video 👍

@@Vladimir-hq1ne so maybe equivalent to "offal" ?
It is from japanese word horu(to be wasted)-mon(thing).
@@michelleb4697 Maybe by substance - I wonder about the taste, though.
@@michelleb4697 Yes, it seems that Itsuka should use the work 'offal' for translations, and not the direct translation 'hormone'.

I have been on ships at sea in foggy conditions before, and they seem to operate more or less normally, but they did sound the ships horn every five minutes or so to alert other passing ships of their presence, which could get loud.
The image of the Titanic scared me, but I was relieved to hear that the ferry was surprisingly safe in the fog. But please don't be noisy 🤣.
