Great review formula. Reviewing the specs, outside demo, explaining the strenghts and weaknesses of the product mentioning the efforts/research made. That puts your video above 80% of the reviews out there. Liked and Subbed. The only thing that would have made the video more valuable would have been a full-week expedition review to confirm the suspicions about the weight but that's asking a lot.
Love the intro and love the concept of this video, taking it outdoors! Looking forward to more videos like this! Also like the different types of boots you're reviewing lately!
Thanks for posting this review. I’m used to doing 5-12 day backpacking trips in the Rockies and compared to other hikers, these felt quite light when I tried them on in the store. I suspect they are just fine for multi-day long distance backpacking, but I’ll report back if I find otherwise. Fingers crossed!
@@420BLUNTLEY I didn’t get any backpacking in (tent pole broke), but I hiked more than 100 km in the Canadian Rockies (Waterton, castle park, lake o hara) with them and they were fantastic. I did a very small backpack in to a remote campsite - only 6 km with a 35 pound pack, and I felt the boots were supportive. .
I believe anything that Red Wing has a hand in is going to be really good quality, comfort, and utility. Great review and video! That was a funny intro too. Thanks and keep up the good work!
@@BootSpy It's definitely not an easy stunt! Great job with it though! 👏! Thanks for the reply. I've watched most of your work, and have been quite impressed. Been a subscriber for a few months I think now! Yes, I have a boot fetish🤫‼️🤣
Great review man thanks! I like the look of these not too modern like a transformer like some other hiking boots. I could definitely see myself wearing these for work
I just ordered a pair from REI (on sale now) and can't wait to try them out on a long hike. They felt comfortable in the store that I tried them on in, but they didn't have my exact size.
I used them in Ushuaia I climbed the glacier and walked through peat. I also put them in the water. I loved the gore tex system. Greetings from Argentina, Buenos Aires.
I don't understand how these are considered heavy. If you were to buy a beefier backpacking boot, those can reach up to 4lbs, where a this is over 2lbs. Also, the Salomon Quest 4 is only 0.5oz lighter, which is one of the most popular backpacking/hiking boots of all time.
I do about 20 miles a week on a very rocky/bouldery trails so having a very stiff sole was important to me. The sole os extremely stiff when you compare them to others in this price range. Also, these boots have been all around fantastic. They are a little heavy but are extremely comfortable and durable. I’ll take the extra weight, comfort and durability over lightweight boots that last no more than a few months. These boots are really a throwback to the leather boots that just work and don’t look and function like multi colored running shoes. Hope that helps.
These are not heavy boots. They would be considered medium weight. The extra weight, and full leather provides protection. That’s not the case with lighter boots, particularly nonleather models.
Heavy? If you backpack you need sturdy boots, that equates to more weight. These boots are not heavy, and they are not really a backpacking boot. They are a comfortable day hiker. or overnighter, and I personally like them. Use them for what they are designed for.

I'm so glad you enjoyed it! Thank you for watching and comment and keeping up with the channel!
Love the look of the boot, and the extra weight means it will beef up my legs even more. :)
Nice choice of scenery along the river.

Thank you for watching and the kind words. I had to try that prat fall a few times, so I'm glad it's getting some appreciation!

How did they held after a year? I'm thinking on buying it, they're for sale at 50$. Are they good for wide feet?
I prefer the weight given that heavier boots usually last longer and protect your feet more. I’m not doing marathons for that I’ll buy a sneaker boot

Dang that's some serious hiking!

Are these true to size?
Hi , i have the old model (other color) of this model about 6 years now . Very comfortable and durable .
Had a pair for a few months. The toe cap rubs and doesn't break in like the leather does. Good boot overall.
Do I own a pair of the previous model number of St. Elias Gore-Tex boots with number 7160?
Great review! Does this boot have a flat sole, or is it shaped? I have an insole so the inside needs to be flat.
I have the previous version of this boot, the Wasatch. Great boot, looking to buy these. And is it “Veebram”?
Just picked up a pair. Thanks
Nice! I love it! Let me know how they feel!
How stiff is the sole? I’m looking for a boot without too much flex in the sole

@@williammarshall4277 thanks! Very helpful indeed.
I find the out sole and mid sole pretty soft.
Pretty soft compared to serious boots with serious cost involved. Great for light hiking and very comfortable.
I am on my 3rd pair of these
review the la sportiva txs gtx! :))))
"Ee-lie-ass," with the accent on the second syllable.
Nice intro
Thank you! I had to do a few takes, so I appreciate the comment

If heavy for 10 miles long walking and function for winter, that show the boots not suitable with Southeast Asia weather.

Goretex doesnt insulate
Ive had good experience with Vasque.
Im sorry to hear theat your right pinky toe went away 🥴🥴🥴
you must have a huge disposable income...geeez
SERIOUSLY! You think that is a heavy boot! I have Mountaineering boots that make these feel like running shoes! Lol!
Nice review just not for me. Keep the videos coming
Rei shows $99 now, with the price what can I say, buy it😂😂😂
Yes and they have quite a selection of sizes including wide. Not just a few at this bargain price.
hmm are we that weak that we have to cry about the weight of a boot.
sad state of affairs...
for long trail hikers the weight is pretty important and something hikers want to know.
