Great critique of all the plants. It's so helpful when the names of each plant are placed on the bottom of the screen. Amazing progress! Thank you so much!
Many thanks
The redbud now makes a window next to the “door” of your archway. A sneak peek and teaser to the backyard garden. Draws your eye to anticipate what’s next.
I really love that view
It took me years to get rid of the multiple small containers and go with fewer large containers. It looks so much better and relaxing.
That’s the plan!!!
Love the honest banter between you both and how you evaluate your plantings year over year. Thank you for making videos, and having the plant names on screen is so helpful. 😊
Thank you for watching!
I made the mistake of planting a mugo pine thinking it was going to stay compact. It is now at least 12-15 feet tall and about 10 feet wide. It's a good thing I had a lot of room and it is beautiful. I'm also in zone 3, so I can't imagine how big yours will grow. Maybe you guys have a dwarf version or something? Btw, you guys continue to be such an inspiration.
It did say it was a dwarf, but we may strategically prune to keep it in check. Thank you!
I could go on and on about my love for Lamium. It’s such a little plant but makes such a BIG impact. The way it frames other larger plants. I love how it makes things in the garden look and feel more organic. I think we have about 4 or 5 different varieties on our property. I just love it. And right now it’s flourishing in the chilly fall air here in Plymouth Massachusetts. ❤
It really does!
Good morning ya'll! Zone 9b Texas Gulf Coast here. What STUNNING Gardens you have! I really enjoyed this full garden tour. Everything is so lush and beautiful there. 😍 Thank you for sharing this with us. Have an AMAZING week! 😊🌲🍁🍂
P.S. thank you for including the names on the screen, and all the details of each plant. 😊
Ooh the gulf coast...hot hot hot!!!
It's a lot of work but I feel like it makes the video a little more beneficial. Thanks for watching!
@@growformegardening yesss.. the humidity 🥵
We had much higher humidity this summer than usual, thankfully the Fall is really the BEST season in our area
The Winecraft Black Smokebush draws my eye immediately. It is just a beauty!
It is a fantastic plant
I’m a blossoming gardener and love, love, love garden walkthrough videos. So far, you two are my hands down favorite of all. You are efficient, charismatic, clear, and your garden feels relatable/aspirational without being commercialized. It feels like a home garden curated and cared for by experts who have invited us for a visit. So well done! 🎉
You mentioned wanting a new lambs ear for next season. Which one will you choose?
Thank you so much... we haven't chosen a lambs ear yet. That will be something we figure out in winter
Wow, guys - still so much to see in September. Just lovely! Thanks for taking us along!
Glad you enjoyed it
Hello, I am so glad you showed the Bathsheba climbing rose. In that heat wave that WV , Pennsylvania, and most Eastern states suffered through, I had planted the Bathsheba. I asked you at that time.... had I killed was it just stressed with the heat and transplanting. She is looking good today and hopefully makes it through the winter. You garden looks wonderful and just want you to know I appreciate your knowledge, thank you for sharing.
I am so glad that you stuck with the rose. This was a challenging summer, hopefully we have an easy winter and the rose wakes up refreshed!
Would love to see some of the inside of your home and Fredrich! Maybe this winter? When you bring in your houseplants ;)
Possibly!
I’m not usually a grass gal, but yours looks amazing (as does the rest of the garden)!
Thanks!
What a beautiful early fall transition. I can't wait to see the leaves turning!
Us too!
Just a thought chaps - but if you bumped out the bed with surefire begonia by about 6 feet it would really add a little privacy and mystery to the hydrangea room. Whatever you do, it is all so beautiful. X
You know we hadn't considered that..what a brilliant idea.
My thoughts too
Good morning🌞it is wonderful to see the transition of your garden throughout the seasons, always lovely and great combinations, I will watch this again with my husband, I am itching to get some gardening done, so much to do out there but the rains have continued and the ground is too wet🌞🍂🍁
Hopefully it dries up a little for you. We could use a bit more rain!
When your Troemner Spruce gets giant, you can limb it up from the bottom, and change part of the garden to shade plants.
My mom did this at my childhood home, and it looks great.
The tree is still there after 60 years!
That's an interesting idea
The entrance towards the Gothic Arch where the Bobo Hydrangeas lined before the arch is just perfect, it's beautiful. Well done! I think I am going to mimic this:-)) but I can't use hydrangeas but instead I'll probably use roses, who knows in this zone 10a hard to find bushes that can take this sun/heat/humidity well. Thank you so much for showing your September garden, love it. Love your show. Maritza
Thank you for watching!
The Rise Up Rose is better treated as a small climber up to 6-8 ft. I have mine on an arbor and it’s great. Just plant it in the ground and grow it on an obelisk or trellis and it will be lovely. Love your garden and channel so much 💕
Thanks for the tip!
Greetings from Queensland Australia . Look forward to watching your videos , always full of helpful advice and information.
Thank you!! I hope you are having a lovely season down under!
Whew…so glad you guys mentioned that your lemony lace had been cut back and looks as good as it looks now. I just cut mine back and thought I killed it.
We cut it back really hard and it exploded this year
What a fun video to watch. I really enjoyed seeing all your hard work flourishing so nicely. Thank you for sharing it.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I've always love the cottage garden look
We like to call it our Contemporary Cottage!
Your garden is always stunning 😍
Thank you so much 😊
Finding the same with my Autumn Joy sedum, strange. Zone 5/6 🇨🇦
Interesting!
you keep using the term past it's prime, l think everything looked gorgeous!😅! Everything together looked like a beautiful fall boquet of flowers! Thank you so much for the tour❤❤❤❤❤
Oh thank you!
Great tour! Very informative and enjoyable as usual.
Thank you! I'm glad to hear that you enjoyed it
Everything looks beautiful ❤❤❤ my sedum this year look strange as well and have seen several other gardners say the same thing.
We shall see what the nest few weeks bring
My holly is doing this and I can't figure out what it is!
Beautiful garden thank you for sharing your video.❤
Thanks for visiting
Gorgeous garden.
Beware morning light miscanthus will turn into a gigantic beast.
We had one in front where the purple fountain grass is... in fact the two in the back were tiny cuttings off that original one. We will keep it in check!
Always beautiful 🤩 I love your garden and I enjoy so much watching your videos 👌😍
Thank you so much 😊
Yes! Love the idea of plumbago under the ginkgo. Their blue flowers are a favorite in my little garden, but I didn’t grow from seed. That will be cool to see if you go that route. 😊
I will try to find seeds. I also have considered gomphrena
Gomphrena would look great there too! Gomphrena would be more seasonal and easier to find seeds could be a great choice if you want the option to change it out often.
My only issue with gomphrena is that it is makes the rabbits go wild. We planted a single plant and it has remained a stump for months
@growfromegardening thanks fro the awesome video as always! I did have a question that it made me think of as I watched... how late into fall can you plant in your area??? or overseed your grass even??? it seems like you still have a lot of plans for your garden despite the cooling temps. as a zone 6 gardener, I'm wondering if I too could be out there doing more!
We generally want plants in the ground six weeks before the first frost, but this season has been so warm that we are pushing it a little. Not to mention...getting in the ground is better than letting them sit out! We probably wouldn't overseed at this point, since we are getting so close to a frost
You have a beautiful garden.thankyou.
Thanks for visiting
Hi guys-I'm always a little jealous of how good east coast gardens look in late summer and early fall. 6 months of no rain takes it's toll herein z9 Calif. On the other hand , I can garden year round. Trade offs ! I discovered last year that Heliotrope (the classic variety 'Marine') is really easy from seed. I'm going to sow a bunch in spring. I get my seeds from Swallowtail which is in Sonoma County so close for me-I imagine there are choices out your way. You should give it a try !
Oh cool! I'll take a look at their selection
I added a variegated hydrangea to my garden because I loved yours blooms or no blooms too.
Oh I'm so glad. I hope a little bit of protection helps it to bloom a little next year
How beautiful your garden is. Your veggies are out in open, how do you keep all the varments from stealing ? I enjoy all your videos, Thank you for sharing
They are raised which keeps bunnies at bay. Deer don't seem to come through there thankfully
You guys I love your garden so much! So I was told that when spring flowering trees bloom again in the fall it’s due to stress. The tree trying to recreate itself because it thinks it dying. Deanna
I believe that. Even with the drip irrigation the garden is really needing some rain
I went to my local garden center recently. Unfortunately, their Seaside Serenade Glacier Bay hydrangeas looked terrible in pots.
They aren't looking so hot in the ground either to be honest. We will protect them and give them another season to straighten up their act
New to your channel and I must say your gardens are stunning! Thanks for the detailed tour~!
Welcome! Thank you for joining us!
Gorgeous!
Thank you! 😊
Love to your videos learn a lot with your experience 😊
Glad you like them!
Your garden looks fabulous!!!!
Thanks!
You are bringing in some of the tender plants. Are you doing anything special to avoid bringing in BUGS 🪳? 🌼🐝
I will run some of the BT mosquito stuff through it just to ward of gnats, but otherwise I won't fuss too much.
Will you be showing any fall clean up/cut back videos? I’m in southern Vermont and can’t believe how much further advanced fall is in my 5A garden. My giant Maples are quickly loosing their leaves and my perennials are looking like they are ready to go to sleep.
Oh wow...we are just starting to see color. We definitely do some cleanup as the time comes.
Love your content! Keep it coming
More to come!
I look forward to your tours so much! One of my Brunnera was full of small holes this year. I checked and there was a slug 🤮 on one of the stems. I couldn’t believe it as brunnera is so prickly. Have you noticed that in yours? 🇨🇦👏🍁
On occasion yes but we don't have much slug action.
@@peggy-ann1961 one of my lambs ear was succumbing to slug damage. The garden center said dig a hole in the ground put in a cup of beer. They're attracted to the yeast and low and behold, I caught three of them.
haha that's awesome
@@judyluce3141 Thank you! ☺️
Boy I just love this time of year for the garden... it's like everything took a collective sigh. There is such beauty in the fade. Q for you guys- would an oakleaf hydrangea do okay in very moist shade? Or is it better with some part sun in your experience? (I have 2 possible spots)
I don't think moist shade would be a good idea...part shade without the moisture would be better. The ones that we have in more shade are slower growing but ok overall
@@growformegardening Thank you for taking the time to answer me!
of course! Damp shade can be tough!
@@growformegardening thanks guys .. i decided to put it in an area that will get more sun & a bit less room...but I don't have to worry about it sitting in damp shade. I'm hopeful & excited to see how it gets on in the spot I put it.
Laura from Garden Answer said quick fire fab is her favorite!!
I remember her planting some awhile back
Great tour.
Thanks!
Great garden tour. You didn’t talk about the hydrangea hedge along the fence. Have you made any decisions yet about that area?
I think a decision has been made, but we will let you know soon!
This topic is killing me with anticipation!! 😅
oh us too
Regarding the Jensen Urn, could you seal the inside and/or outside of it, to help reduce the porosity and thus water loss? 😊
That's an interesting idea. I might contact the Campania team to ask them
I like your Goorin Bros hat.
Me too!
Gorgeous Gardens 💚
I hope neither of you suffer with allergies.
With 🤧 Golden Rod, you'll find out quick!
Oh we see goldenrod EVERYWHERE, along the road, backyards...it's here whether we like it or not! haha
Beautiful gardens! Where in upstate are you located ? Do you have garden tours or participate in open gardens?? I’m in Erie co.
Oh we are on the other side, near Albany
I love it. I have some plantings I need to threaten too. I’ll let know if they participate. My Astilbe and Coral Bells just do not look good in the shady area they occupy
We have some old fashioned Astilbe that are getting boot!
I have 4 crepe myrtles that have just barely bloomed in the 15 years they’ve been in the ground. Last year I was very honest and frank with them: do better next year or you’re outta here. It worked! Blooms galore!
I'm glad! Sometimes they need to be told who is boss!
This may be a weird question…where do you keep your trash and recycling bins? I’m looking for ways to disguise them
We keep them in the garage. It’s annoying but we didn’t plan ahead to keep them somewhere else!
Have you considered to plant some mini fruit trees? I jave one mjni apple tree in my flower bed and it fits there perfectly and also gives fruits!
We do have one mini peach tree, but we haven't looked in to any others...but we should!
You skipped the vanderwolf pine. I really wanted to see it . Yours look so healthy and grown so much but you skipped right over it.
oh my goodness we did! We always talk about it too
I see that you have some tags for your plants, other than the ones from the nursery. Where did you get them and how long does the writing last?
Since we work with some brands they will sample newer varieties for us to trial. Those are usually the ones that have the tags. We really appreciate getting to share upcoming releases
Gorgeous! Do you guys put a lot of native plants in your garden?
I would say that we have a bunch of "nativars"... native plants that have been bred to have some different characteristics. For instance, smooth leaf and oak leaf hydrangeas are technically native, but not "from the wild"
What type of plant protection do you have for your hydrangea?
We actually have a video about our planned products! ruclips.net/video/3vya4Ud78OI/видео.html
No mention of the limelight hedge and plans for it?
You caught us. We have made a decision and we will share soon enough
@@growformegardening I’m trying to decide what to do with mine! I think I will give it one more year and prune it twice in the spring - will just have smaller flowers.
@@AnnPull That's a very good idea!
Hi guys! What is that tall juniper called by your front entry? Love it :)
That is a Hetzi Columnar Juniper. Eric trimmed it pretty narrow
Do you guys do anything to your grass? How do you keep it so green and weed free?
I love your garden btw!
We have a service that does four treatments a season.. of something!
Thanks!!
I’ve missed y’all. 😊
Aww shucks!
I see you have a section of rock around the foundation of your side yard. What is the average depth of this flower bed? I'm putting in a new flower bed again my home and really think I should add rock against the house for drainage.
It varies in depth, we like to have the garden edges curvy. I think it is minimum of 3 feet up to 5 feet
Lovely. Are those new evergreen deer resistant?
That's a good question... but honestly during the worst of winter everything seems fair game for them
❤❤❤❤❤
🍁🍁🍁🍁🍁
Please don’t cut down your golden Winebark. What if you just limp it up to give it a high canopy making it a beautiful tree specimen it’s so big and beautiful.
We love it..but it's more about the window being completely covered than anything!
❤❤❤🥰
Thanks!
This was anything but boring. I love your garden tours. I am on a budget but i could use some of your ideas on a small scale. Do not listen to negative comments. Thank you for the tour. I can't wait to see what is next.
Thank you! No room for negative in gardening!
