I am currently in a similar situation & can totally relate! I just graduated high school and did not get accepted into any of my top or middle choices. I know the school I will be attending in the fall is not the right fit for me, and I know transferring out will prove to be a whole new challenge in itself. I will be attending a four-year public university, and chances of transferring out of my school and into another are extremely grim. For a good majority of this summer, I have been losing sleep over the thought of transferring. I spend entire nights researching how to transfer, when to transfer, where to transfer, the benefits and opportunities each environment and community has to offer, etc. Pushing percentages and statistics aside, I hope that my hard work within the next few years will pay off! It is obvious that you have worked extremely hard to get to where you are today. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us!
Hi! I just saw all of your replies- I ended up transferring to a university that would have been a reach school for me during my senior year of HS & am very happy with where I am now :) Thank you for the love
I transferred to another school my sophomore year for pretty much the same reasons as you and it was the best decision I ever made! So scary in the beginning but 100% worth it!
I'm going through the same situation right now. Right now its to late for fall semester which sucks i know dumb me. But i've realized i gotta transfer I am miserable at the school I'm in. I agree deadlines bring me so much anxiety lets hope i can get through this.
The requirements vary based on the transfer school I believe, but because I was transferring as a sophomore I didn't have to worry about that. Schools do use different unit distributions and scales, but they will convert your units to theirs and if you're admitted they'll let you know what classes transfer over and how many credits you'll have at their school. That way you know what your standing would be if you were to attend that school.
So my academic advisor in my current college (it’s actually a university) suggested I join the honor program but I’m not sure whether I should join it or not simply cuz I’m dreading the competitiveness of it, like just being in the “honor program” along with the “smart” kids, I feel like I’ll be so pressured and professors would expect so much more from me that they’d probably be harsher at grading?
Hi Anna! How would you suggest figuring out whether your current credits will transfer to your next school? Did your schools help you determine this, or did you need to do this on your own? Thank you so much for making this video!!!
I went to my first choice university, but became depressed and panicked when I started my 2nd term this autumn. Then, i decided to take an tardy for an semester realizing that i wanted to study media studies instead of liberal arts…help me haha
Hello, I am studying in Thompson Rivers University, British Columbia. Can I take a transfer to the Lambton College, Ontario? I am studying post baccalaurette supply chain management here and it is my first year.
about the sorority, did you affiliate yourself with the sorority at Northwestern? I'm confused about that topic since I am in a sorority at my old school but I really want to be in the sorority at the transfer school.
Celine Liang I was an alpha phi at GW and now I'm in alpha phi at NU. Once you're a member of a sorority become a part of it nationally, so as long as your transfer school has the same chapter as you're in at your current school you should be able to join it. Does that make sense?
so...is this possible for me to transfer from Seneca college (Toronto)to UoT computer science program?I have a GPA 3.0,and I'm an international student
Lioness4144 I only lost one class, but some people will lose a lot more -- it really depends on the school you're transferring to as well as how general the classes that you took at your old school were.
+Anna Graziella Hi, I'm planning to transfer ( I'm sophomore) & I don't want to lose a lot of credits when I transfer. Do you know how can I check, which school would accept more credits and I only studied GER courses. (I'm Business major) Do you think GER courses are all transferable? Thanks for the video.
Hi! Unfortunately it's pretty hard to tell for sure until you've been accepted and the school goes over your coursework. However, if you call their admissions department some schools will be able to send you lists of classes transfers from your current school have brought in and received credit for. My guess is that most GER courses will transfer well because that was my experience, but obviously it will depend on each school specifically. Hope that helped and good luck!!
I only lost two classes. It's important to talk with an academic advisor from the school and just ask which of your classes will or will not transfer over.
This really is probably none of my business but I would literally do anything to get into Northwestern. What was on your application? GPA? Were you in any leadership roles? I’m applying from community college. Thanks!

Tiffany Wong when transferring, did u need to retake the SAT?
Esosa Osagie nope! They asked for my last SAT score, but I think the parts that carried the most weight were college GPA and personal statement!
I transferred to another school my sophomore year for pretty much the same reasons as you and it was the best decision I ever made! So scary in the beginning but 100% worth it!
Megan Murphy That's so good to hear!! Do you have any advice for me going into my first quarter?
Congrats on Northwestern! So happy for you :)
***** Eep! Thank you!!
OMG I AM TOURING NORTHWESTERN IN A COUPLE WEEKS. That is the dream
What happened with Northwestern? Did you get in (or even apply)?
I'm in your shoes now haha.
Were there a lot of scholarship options when you transferred?
I'm going through the same situation right now. Right now its to late for fall semester which sucks i know dumb me. But i've realized i gotta transfer I am miserable at the school I'm in. I agree deadlines bring me so much anxiety lets hope i can get through this.
Good luck, I promise all of the stress is worth it!!
Thank you Anna!
Northwestern and Vanderbilt, dang. Smart one you are... And good taste.
I don't know why but I love watching these videos haha! All the best in your new school!
caely | lawschoolchronicle thank you! xx
How many units did you have to have to transfer? what year are you going to be in? and are the units different from california state schools.

What year were you in, and around what time (term) did you start applying to transfer?
You may have said it but just checking!
I’m starting my first year in August and I’m already considering transferring (the university I’m going to is really not for me)
I understand how you feel. But first, give it a try and see what happens.
So can you transfer to any uni? Even if you got rejected beforehand?
I went to my first choice university, but became depressed and panicked when I started my 2nd term this autumn. Then, i decided to take an tardy for an semester realizing that i wanted to study media studies instead of liberal arts…help me haha
I hope you find happiness at your new school!
Colleen Marge thank you
Would you recommend retaking SAT and ACT if your not happen with your score?
Christina Alyssa Yes I took it like 7 times... It doesnt hurt to take it again unless you want to use your current to send to universities
Upturned17 you should only retake the tests a max of 3 times

***** will you loose any credits when you transfer. I've heard that you waste like a semester or something.
Lioness4144 I only lost one class, but some people will lose a lot more -- it really depends on the school you're transferring to as well as how general the classes that you took at your old school were.
