Dave, I've recently spent about 20+ hours watching, and enjoying, your videos. I just love watching you work so gently with these typically quite frightening animals, and it's really turned me onto the hobby. Ironically, it seems like quite a calming hobby when done correctly, aside from a few hairy situations!
Recently an older gentleman who was a good friend to me passed away who was very much a fan of spiders (and all animals), and I've given some serious thought to getting a couple of spiders myself. Anyways, I'd like to thank you for creating such a wonderful resource for this underappreciated hobby. Many thanks from _New_ England, USA!

Hello Dave and Camera Lady. What interesting spiders and quite lovely. The subtle yellow pattern on the abdomen is really very pretty. It will be intriguing to see the advancement of the project. Of course it is always fun to get new babies. Have any new egg sacs dropped? Just curious. I have the distinct feeling that you will have no issues finding homes for your skeleton legs if the pairing was successful. Seems like a lot of people are looking for them. Anyway, thank you for my midweek fix. Thank you again for doing what you both do. Good night!❤🌗✨

You did say the male was developed but also said he was quite small ... so he might be okay for breeding later?

Funny story-I know your not a fan of jumping spiders but I’ve had the oddest experience this last week with them…I went out to my vehicle and on the door was a small male. Then a few days later on the inside of our storm door I found an adult female! I caught & kept each separately few days but felt guilty so put them back in the exact place I found them. I think if there’s a third I’ll just have to keep it right?!😆And last winter I was desperate to buy one! 🤔were they around me all this time and I just never noticed?

Picked something like this up yesterday labeled orange leg trapdoor spider just need to get a proper id. They did say it was this genus/sp. But theres a few that go by that common name above and there is one other that goes by this orange legged trapdoor spider. Found in US Thailand Africa japan and i think a few other places. I’ve got to rehouse it today and get a few photos

So special! Do you think it is necessary to build a bioactive terrarium for these little guys?

Dave - been watching for a while now and I used to be fearful of spiders growing up - these days I am way less this way and find them fascinating, you have helped greatly in developing this appreciation.
Anyway, I dont think you guys noticed - you can barely tell but I see movement near the water cap in the first tank you built at around 18:30ish. What do you think? Actually caught on film some drinking going on?

Yes they would have been springtails I think and yes the male was straight in for a drink 👍

Same here. As a child I was also scared of spiders-which I think is all but ingrained in Western society. We're essentially trained from a young age to see them as a threat and a lesser form of animal. Tarantulas really aren't anything to fear, but they do demand respect, and the two are mutually exclusive. Anyways, Dave certainly has a way of making this hobby seem attractive and relaxing. Simply watching him work is enjoyable enough, but I am very tempted to get a spider of my own!

Dave, have you ever had, or want to have, a Chinese Cyclocosmia (cork lid trapdoor spider)? I wonder how they developed their odd shaped abdomen. I like your new little beastie 🧡

@@daveslittlebeasties Lmao be careful with the Chinese ones too theyre known to play dead then use a Chinese kung fu side kick 😂.
The Asian trap doors you have now, do they have severe, potent or very potent venom? just wonderinf as you mentioned theyre related to funnel webs.

@@themondalorian9844 There is no real data on their venom but would treat with respect as I assume them to be quit strong 👍

Would really love to see them on your Channel. They Block there Burrows with themselfs. And look really beautifull.
They are quite rare, so as with current ones getting them to breed would be awesome.

I see a lot of unboxing of spiders. How do you guys get them in a tissue filled cup to ship out? It seems taboo or something.
