mine doesnt say "apply update from sd card it says "apply update from external storage. Also when i click the power button and the volume key that boot sign does not show...rather it either goes straight to recovery or says "downloading...do not turn off device!" everytime i click the root file it give me an error saying that i need signature permission or something. can somebody please help???

@kela542 After you root, you cant make calls.
As for moving apps this is how it goes...
- root
- install titanium backup (TB)
- open TB and backup any app that you want
- connect tab to pc using samsung cable
- navigate to titanium backup folder and you can move the backed up file on to the pc.
- If you need to get the app back, transfer the backup back using samsung cable
- Use TB to restore the app

@kela542 should be rooted, you just need to use tb and restore... y reset bro?
@vwestTube the instructions for the tab 10.1 would be similar but not exactly the same so you cannot follow these

@kela542 Bro the 7tab has call functionality and this one doesnt, its hardware related... so rooting cant fix it :(
@kela542 with titanium you can shift to pc, uninstall and then move back and reinstall, I havent used any without root bro so no idea
@Silva12350 turn off the tab and then try holding the buttons for 10+ secs and you should get recovery

@kela542 The root file gets you root access, this one does that so theres only one function and thats done by this file :)

the system menu shows upgrade from external source, not upgrade from SD card...

@omgid1 doesnt get you free games and stuff... for free stuff search for the relevant apk file... try apktop or bestandroiddownloads...
I understand da process u used but would it also work if I used "SuperOneClickv2.3.3-ShortFuse" root method? Dis 1 root click process works on most phones specifically Samsung devices but I want 2 know because dis is a tablet, will it work? I have the software but I'd rather hear from u before I use it on dis tablet.
@000pgdwn000 no bro this does not work for the lte version from at&t... try xda forums they have a tutorial for it or email me and ill get you a link to that tutorial (my email ids in the description)
@omgid1 you dont have to open superuser... it just gives you access to run some apps that you cant by default... so download titanium backup... if you can run it, it means you are good :) let me know how it goes brother :)
I don't if u tried 2 reboot da tab but if u did & failed, U might've caused a soft brick. Go in ur recovery by pressing power + volume down & do a factory reset.

You have a newer video of "how to" or URL with the latest method on how to root the WiFi only 8.9"? This method seems to no longer work.
I have an ATT LTE 8.9" as well and was able to root it using a diff. method.

2. I am seeing that there are couple of methods of installing the Clockworkmod recovery. One is the way you have demonstrated in your video using ODIN. The other one which is more latest as per the dates, is simply using the same method of transferring the .zip file of the CWM recovery onto the SD card of the tab and going into Android recovery and selecting to apply .zip from SD card option. I have never used ODIN before and so was wondering which one is the better way of doing it?

is rooting my tab gonna make all my file gone? cause many say that i need to backup my file into computer before rooting my tab.. but i do it to my phone and its all ok... but im still questioning... is it ok?
Rooting has changed over da years, now u can root without resetting or deleting anything. Its is very recommended to backup everythin in case sumthin does go wrong during da rooting process.
@stardomat Once you are rooted, you will see 2 icons CWM and superuser on it.. also installing titanium backup app will tell you if you are rooted or not...

1. You can still use skype...
2. You got a samsung cable with the tab, use that to connect via pc, if your tab doesnt show up, dnload samsung kies software.
3. Yes wrnty will be void if you root but root is harmless.
4. Yes you can unroot (but I cant make a vid tut for that cuz I dont have this tab ymore :( )

I can't get in recovery mode.
Every time i try, the screen gets black and does nothing untill i power it back on for some reason.
I use model p7300.

Hey dude, totally liked your guide, but I have one question, I have already installed clockworkmod and then I flashed CM9 ICS ROM and it works perfectly but the superuser app were included in that ROM, and now i want to root, and when I follow this guide and do everything and then start superuser it's exactly like on the video, but when i install Titanium backup it says i don't have root access. Do I need to flash the stock ROM and delete clockworkmod and then root or what shall i do?
1. Will simply rooting and NOT installing any custom ROM make my Samsung tab unable to receive the OTA ICS update from Samsung (due soon)? I own a HTC mytouch 4G as well which I had rooted in the past and once rooted even though I was on stock ROM, it didn’t receive the OTA update that HTC had sent. I guess the OTA is received only on non-rooted devices.

I've rooted my galaxy 8.9, installed superuser and and setcpu, however I cannot change anything but the min and max cpu frequency from its standard allocation i.e 216min and 1000 max. I'm really quite a newbie when it comes to anything technical but any help would be vastly appreciated.

@kela542 Sorry bro but I dont use anti viruses... On a device with 1 gig of ram... i find it too bulky... Id rather wipe and get back in case of a virus... am not saying thats the way to go but thats just my opinion :) If i come across any decent AV I will let you know

@ooj3zu5oo Rooting is the process by which you get full control of the device.. more than what the manufacturer intended us to have...
