There are so many variables involved in the tax code. For instance, if Walmart is forced to pay say 20% in taxes, they will lay off many workers, and raise the prices of everything by 20%. You don’t really believe that corporations are just going to eat that loss do you ? They will pass it on to the consumers and you and I will be forced to pay that tax. It will not help us or the country. Small businesses may just have to fold. Close shop and let the employees go because they are running on a thin budget as it is.
With the minimum wage expansion many will be forced to do the same. MacDonald has a few stores, but the majority are franchises. Privately owned. Are you prepared to pay $15.00 for a Big Mac ? $10.00 for a medium French fry ? The only way for them to stay in business is to raise their prices. Minimum wage is for teens to get a first job and gain experience, cover some gas and a movie on Friday night with your best gal, not to provide a lifestyle forever.
Every one of the examples they constantly bring up about child care and universal health care for Canada, and Europe, are only able to provide these under the umbrella of protection and safety that we provide them. If the United States suddenly pulled our military back into our own country to protect only our homeland, and these countries all of a sudden had to provide their own defense, form armies, navy’s, air forces to stand a chance against North Korea, Russia, China, and even the Middle East, they would have to end every “social safety net” they have instantly.
One more thing. Our scientists spend millions of dollars, and many years to develop a drug. Let’s use Tylenol for instance. They then have a patent for five years, to recoup the money and get their brand name out there so people will know and trust them and hopefully continue to be lifelong customers. Then a first year college chemist from Canada drives down and spends $6.00 on a bottle of Tylenol and returns to school and breaks it down to the base ingredients with his professor, in a couple weeks. They change the percentages of several inert ingredients ie; 2% of this to 4%. 3% of that to 5% , then knock off a couple percentages of other ingredients to balance it out. The medicine is exactly the same as far as effectiveness goes. They then use the pharmaceutical name instead of the brand name. They are not subject to copyright laws here in the states, and because it is not the exact formula, they technically haven’t copied it. They have invested basically nothing and can sell it for $2.00 a bottle and still make a killing.
I used Canada for the example, but many countries are doing the same thing. It’s our system of the free market that allows and encourages our people to strive and thrive to do so many amazing things that no other countries do. We are not smarter than everyone else. We are not holding back anyone else. We do these things for the incentives, that other countries simply don’t offer their citizens. If you are assigned to be a ditch digger in China, an American who decides to do the same job, will far outperform the man in China who is just commanded to do it. Even under lash, he will still not give his best effort.
It baffles me that people like that woman have no idea about these things and yet gets on the world stage. Anna something I think ? Apparently even now there are people who believe that he shot three black men. They were all white. They all had criminal records and tried to kill him. The first one was a fan of the playground, and diddling pudding people, that Mark Ruffalo affectionately referred to as JoJo. That speaks volumes about his character. POS. in any sense, I just don’t understand how people cannot understand these basic facts, and believe socialism ( the cause of deaths of millions of people in the 20th century alone) is the way they want to go. It has never worked. It will never work. It only destroys lives.

I would like to add, that as usual the governments interference in child care isn't going to help. It's very highly regulated, you need certiffications insurance and many other things to open a daycare. All of that costs money. Gone are the days you could just hire a babysitter for a few bucks an hour. For decades this worked just fine, but now you need insurance which has premiums and stuff. That's why child care is so costly. Someone used to come to your house or you would drop your kids off somewhere, now many places have buildings, they pay rent on, pay insurance on, have utilities on.

Regarding the taxes argument - it is a flawed argument and it is sad to see that while generally it is true, the people pushing for it are either incapable or purposefully don't argue correctly. The reason why in the US the companies don't pay their fair share is mostly due to the way the tax base is defined. The tax base is on what you levy taxes. If you levy a tax even 100% on a tax base of 0, no tax is being paid.
What the lobbyists have achieved is to make sure that there are all the necessary exceptions in the tax code to reduce the tax base as much as possible, so that taxes do not affect the company.
I don’t want to take care of anybody children.
why not use tax dollars to help everyone's kids including yours. if everyone is prosperous, you will be also. no one is trying mooch but why not spend our tax dollars on us instead of tanks. Taxes are paid regardless. stop look at your neighbors as torns instead of humans
