Here's how to make a simple blowgun dart using dut tape as cone material. The dart itself can be anything that will fit into the bore of your blowpipe. I show a nail and a bamboo skewer in the video.
A cool thing you can do is make two cones and place them on opposite ends of a short 1" bamboo skewer or toothpick. This will result in an hourglass-looking double cone. Make a bundle of bamboo skewers, toothpicks or thick steel wire and push them loosely intot he barrel of your blowgun. Place the double cone, which will act like a sabot behind the bundle of small darts. When fired, the cone will fly off to the side and your multiple darts will haphazardly strike the area you pointed the blowgun at.

One suggestion is, it might make the dart last longer is either melting the duct tape to the nail or gluing the tape to the nail

With the volume off, this is a film about making yourself a tiny party-hat, it gets rather confusing when the nail comes into it though.
I've been using a variant of your dart technology for several years. I cut the head off the nail and use a daub of glue in the tip of the cone where the nail shaft is. I also sharpen my nails. I can penetrate 1/4 inch plywood with these reliably at 35-40 feet.

It's a walking cane and the mouthpiece was made of three sizes of pipe heated and formed over each other and then turned down on a lathe. I've also done some turned mouthpieces out of exotic woods for canes like this.
Can you demonstrate how to make a turned mouthpiece for the walking stick/blow gun? Thanks, bro. will be waiting for the tutorial video.
I made some of these with 3-1/4 inch sinker nails and shot them out of my homemade 5 ft blowgun with a copper barrel and they work perfectly. I didn't realize just how deadly they are. I have an old, cheap wood door that I use as an archery backstop in my basement. from 10 feet, the nails stick through the opposite side. Damn impressive.
Thanks for sharing. This works great. I use copper pipe because it is straighter and more accurate. I also lashed three pvc together for defense weapon and quick follow up shots close range. Very powerful and destructive. Don' t think this is a toy. It will shoot into the side of a steel soup can with nail darts.

Hi. I made your duct tape cones and it works the best that I have tried so for. I used bike spokes as the metal dart. It works really well. I straightened the end and glued into the cone. Then sharpened the other end. I had beads that I than glued them to the end of the cone. Try it out!!!!
claude morneau Nice, sounds awesome! Back in college my roommate and I made throwing spikes and blowgun darts out of bike spokes as well.
I used bike spokes for ages. I upgraded to these nice thick yet light coat hangers. They work really well but will bend if you hit something solid like cement or bricks.

I have been looking for a waterproof, flexible material to make cones for ages. I tried wax dipped paper, reshaped HDPE, 3d printed cones, you name it. Never once did it occur to me to use duct tape 😂I'm a bit late but thank you!

Nick, it looks like a different blowgun from the ones in your other video. Is this another one you made and beefed up the mouthpiece with epoxy putty? I like the knob style end as it looks more like a walking stick proper.

Nice bro, i liked the video but only problem with those darts is that they brooke too easly, well maby not "brooke" but they are too easly damagaget still great idea I made darts just like those but just added arrowhead. You are AWSOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey there Nick, I got thank ya' for this dart tutorial brother, with out it I was gonna quit furthering my interest in blowguns. I used to make the darts in the past with duct tape but I'd use waaay to much & stop the interest for a while, I considered paper cones for the darts but wanted that durability of the duct tape; now I gotta go make sume but with clear packing tape, to be stealthy, lol...Thanks Nick, for sharing this way more effective method.
