- The previous owner of Hollywood Palms Ted Bulthaup spearheaded the petition with the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce to get the much deserving munchkins from the Wizard of Oz their star on the walk of fame!
Here is the video featured on the rlu ray all about it! - Развлечения
Oh I can't tell you how happy I am to see this especially after I read the biography on the making of the Wizard of Oz and how neglected the munchkins were treated like no names and cattle and paid pennies on the set by MGM...good for them! It choked me up to see them finally being honored! This war generation is almost gone and I am honored that the last remaining munchkins who will soon be all gone-well we got the chance to say we lived in the time when they lived and got to hear their stories and got to see the last remaining survivors of such a classic movie that will go on into the next generation- !
this makes me cheerful
They did not get paid pennies on the set, the actually got 50 dollars a week !
oh really? some documentary I watched a few yrs back with interviews of the munchkins stated they were treated like cattle-many sleeping in one room and paid pennies....??
They were each paid $100 a week while the dog who played Toto was paid $125 a week. That says a lot.
I love the little lady munchkins voice! She's adorable
The lady looks like a kid
@@unlistedtraveler3047 I've never seen a kid with wrinkles.

There are still five living Munchkins.
He molested Judy garland

R.I.P to them all. We love you our munchkins from Oz ❤️
I left my home for university in another country a while back, I was always excited to leave and couldn’t wait, but I have to say now that I’m away I really do just wanna go back home. When the beautiful elderly munchkin said “they always wanna come back home” I couldn’t hold back my tears
By far the greatest movie ever made ! I have watched it well over 100 times and still sing a long each time i do.
Sing now..we want to hear
You gotta go to Beech Mtn North Carolina and see the Wizard of Oz set up there if you're somewhat near. Mostly photo ops some sets a little bit of acting. Something to see once.
@@misterl1668 I've been wanting to go there for decades!
@MaskedMan66 It's never too late! They only do it for a certain amount of time each year. I cut up and interacted with the actors randomly. Doubt I'd ever go again unless I had family with me or friends
@@misterl1668 I was born in NC, but my family moved away while I was still a baby. If only we'd stayed...
It makes me really really happy that the munchkins are getting the recognition they deserved. I loved the Munchkin sequence as a child!
Some of the munchkins tried to put their hands up the skirt of the main character(i don't remeber her name)
@@japan9893 You don't remember the name of one of the most famous literary characters in the world, who has been known since 1900? On your bike. And no, none of the Singer Midgets ever tried anything of the sort. They would have been fired if they had.
@@japan9893 that's not true at all 👎 they had totally respect for each other.👍
Once you’ve made it on the Hollywood walk of fame, you’re a legend!
Let's be honest, they were already legends! ;-)
I actually met Jerry Maren back around 2004/2005. I was in high school and working in our television studio, and our drama department was performing the Wizard of Oz, and he came in as a special guest. He was a very nice man, had nothing negative to say about anything. My Tv class interviewed him for one of our programs we put out every evening. I have a signed program from him.
I met him and his charming wife at a Chicago Comic Con.
I went to a Wizard of Oz festival in Chesterton Indiana years ago and met most of the munchkins it was awesome!!!
I remember going to Ozfest....Static X opened and were awesome!
I was fortunate to grow up in St Louis Mo where Mickey Carrol was from. He returned to the city to run his family's monument business but was always involved in many projects in the area. I had the pleasure of meeting him in a parade in the 1980's. He was so kind & talked to me for a long time. I had my picture taken with him. Everybody in St Louis loved this man.
Have you ever heard the story of how he restored the grave and the cemetery where Dorothy Gage, L. Frank Baum's niece by marriage, is buried?
@@MaskedMan66 I think I read something about it, but I read so many things, I'm not sure.
@@phyllislowry6265 Well, he did do that. 🙂
this makes me want to cry for some reason......
I agree!
We had one of the women come to our school when I was a kid. She had on her costume. Such a pleasant lady. This was in the 70's. I remember her being up in yrs then.
my grandmother told me saw Marilyn Monroe when she was doing a movie in Niagara falls,ny
Do you remember who it was? I know Margaret Pelligrini did a lot of appearances; I met her once.
@Martha Fogelin I think she meant one of the Singer Midgets.
I'm so very glad for them. It blew me away that this film has now been part of (watched as an event) my family for four generations. It will continue to be part of us for decades and generations to come.
YES! My grandfather from Argentina came to this country because California's Golden Age movies inspired him to come out here and work and of course... Wizard of Oz was one of those standout movies that secured him packing his bags to come out here. He made it a point to raise all three of his daughters and grandchildren on this movie but with me it was something so special. I am Dorothy and he is my Scarecrow, my TinMan, and my Lion. It has become a special bond for me and him and I am going to do the same with my kids, nieces, nephews, and grandchildren ❤
i was in the wizard of oz and i was the corner of munckin land it was really nice to hear the real corner's words it put a smile on my face ☺
Coroner. ;-) You must have had a lot of fun.
The world was a better place when these people were in it. RIP all 💐
It looks wonderful seeing not only the munchkins, but also their families, Judy's son Joe, and Caren Marsh-doll (Judy's stand-in)

A wonderful watch, and I saw another, longer video with these superb Munchkin actors and actresses yesterday too and really enjoyed it. There is alot of truth in what Margaret Pellegrini says near the end too. They seemed like truly lovely and caring people.

@@theglamourtoad Yes, they've all passed on now, including Jerry (died at 98).
Gerard Marenghi (January 24, 1920 - May 24, 2018), known as Jerry Maren, was an American actor who played a Munchkin member of the Lollipop Guild in the 1939 Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer film, The Wizard of Oz.
As of May 2018 there are no living cast members from “The Wizard of Oz”. Jerry was the last living cast member and passed away at age 98 in May 2018. Karl is also my favourite! He’s so precious! He was a bachelor all his life.

This makes me so happy for these wonderful people. I have absolutely loved this movie since I was a young boy, soon I will be 66 years old God willing. It represents so many different things to me, friendship, fear, dreaming of a better world and most of all love. I love everything about this movie and have taken away so much from it. I am thankful for the wonderful memories the movie has given me throughout the years and it always makes me long for home. It never fails to make me cry and I'm not ashamed to admit it and I know it is true, there is no place like home and someday I too will fly over the rainbow.

I have the movie on DVD, and so can watch it any time I like, but... it isn't quite the same as that annual anticipation, knowing it would be on T.V. soon, is it?

CGI didn't exist back in 1939.

they actually look human like here...what I mean is in the movie they were made to look like creatures and that's just sad THEY ARE NOT DIFFERENT THEY ARE HUMANS
They were made to look like Munchkins, which are not human beings any more than the Winkies (strange you seem to have no problem with them, as they look less human). But because they weren't human is no reason to be bigoted against them.
Back when we had reasonable stuff. Such as nice clothing, food, and behaviour. Nowadays, it is just chaotic everywhere.
It was all a facade; a thin veneer of civility over a culture of violence and exploitation.

About time
My goodness these little Munchkins must be 90+ years old now, looking at how young they were in this film and how they are now really makes you think how short life is in the full picture of things
Actually, they are all dead already.
The ones in this video were teenagers at the time.
I firmly believe that the Coroner is one of two things:
1. The only Munchkin that everyone remembers.
2. That the Coroner is everyone's favorite Munchkin.
Also am I the only one who keeps clicking on 2:12 to hear the Coroner's song?
Nah, I'm sure everyone also remembers Jerry Maren from the lollipop guild. Him and Meinhardt are like the 2 most popular I.M.O.
1. I remember the Mayor, the Barrister, the Coroner, the Lullaby League, the Lollipop Guild, the Sleepyheads, and the chap who says, "And oh, what happened then was rich!"
2. My favorite Munchkin was Margaret Pellegrini.
and they knew the sad and scary facts about the movie..
The sad and scary facts are far fewer than the sad and scary lies.
This is the movie I loved and I will remember it all
