The Vampire Chronicles is one of my favorite series (even though the plot can go off the rails at times). Lestat is such a great character (one of my all-time favorite characters) and I love the discussions and ideas that Anne Rice explores throughout the series.
I LOVE that every time you finish a book you enjoyed you go back and check if it has really ended or if there are another few pages that you might have skipped😂 I do exactly the same, and I bet tons of readers out there do that.
Oh, Emma, yes. The loneliness of having no one with whom to converse about books and reading and writing and life. We listen to your wonderful commentaries and enjoy your soothing, uplifting strolls through nature, we go with you to Iceland and we're delighted by your joy there, even as we wish Toronto wasn't so oppressive, or that London might have let you find refuge there more permanently than brief visits home. We listen, but we respond, too, and some of us try to let you know. You're remarkable and a blessing. Thank you for what you do, and for what you give us all. Namaste.
I just wanted to come back here and say you've convinced me to read interview with the vampire and I'M SHOOK. This is my new favorite. I'm just like *wow, wow*
Recently read Interview with the vampire and was so in love with Anne Rice's writing, the story and the characters that I immediately started The vampire Lestat. It's even better than the 1st book if you can imagine that💖
@@emmiereads it’s called “The Vampire”! We just get to read vampire stories and learn about vampires :). Your book recs never miss so I’m sure I’ll have the best time reading it!!
Interview with the vampire was one of the books that made me fall in love (again) with reading when I was a teenager. I'm so happy you liked it so much!
I remember being a teenager and seeing my sisters copy of Interview With The Vampire on our kitchen table one day. I started reading it and quickly finished it. Claudia is such a wonderfully written character. She reminds me a bit of Cosette from Les Mis.
The Vampire Chronicles have been my absolute favorite series since I was a teenager. If you love Interview I can’t wait for you to read the rest of the series because it’s actually my least favorite! The rest are from Lestat’s point of view and he’s an incredibly complex character that I just fell in love with.
Dear Emma, this is the first time I am writing to you, I have been enjoying your critical tastes in books for 5 years. I dare to write to you for the first time, because you have just read my first love, Anne Rice is sublime, she accompanied me throughout my all youth. I dare to advise you to read Lestat just when it starts to snow, because his story is the one that will end up captivating you. PD: Try to read them in order..and when you want to take a break from Vampires, and meet the Mayfer Witches, try to do it in the fall. My best wishes.
I read interview with the vampire in high school, was a favorite at the time. I recently reread it and i didn’t think my 36 year old self was going to enjoy it as much but it blew me away. Was definitely a fave and a surprise. So happy to hear that you loved it too.
I've had the book on Audible for a long time but I like the movie and I just never got around to listening to the book. I think I will now. edit: Maybe because I'm 67, I'm not sure, but I face each day asking these questions that have no answers. I think the closer you get to death you start to see the world differently than younger folks do. You don't take death and how short life is seriously because you can always just put it out of your mind and move on but as you get older you realize the truth of it all. And you tend to be more isolated and cut off from society, a society that doesn't care much for anyone older than them and has so much life experience to share, so it starts to make you feel like you lived for nothing, other than making some kids, who now ignore you, as you watching younger people think about life based on a much smaller slice of life. I went from idealistic to depressed in those 67 years but as I approach the end I am starting to see what life is about and how you should live it. But without the tools to carry it out. I love your videos. They make me feel alive and your spirit, which I hope you never lose, helps me appreciate life even more.
Wow. I have a lot to say but I’ll try to keep this short (though, not eloquent.) I’ve always cared about older people and love hearing of their experiences in life, but being someone who is only 19, I cannot relate to many of the things that you all go through. Hearing this comment really opened my eyes and my heart. I feel a deep appreciation for you guys now, more than I ever have. It makes me think about my grandma who I’ve always been distant with due to personal reasons. But I do understand her a bit more now. Thank you. I think it’s time for me and her to reconnect.
I read Interview when I was a tween lol. It was my first big novel, and it no exaggeration changed my life forever. Rice will hold a special place in my heart forever and always.
Interview with the Vampire used to be my favourite book ever. My mum has always been obsessed with the movie and she gifted it to me for Christmas when I was 15 and it killed me emotionally. Not only did it get me into reading, but also became my whole personality at the time and I was so, so disappointed with the movie and with the sequel of the book :p. I'm curious to see what it would be like to reread it 15 years later as an adult, but at the same time I'm slightly afraid that it would spoil my very first experience ;) I'm really glad you love it so much. :))
I’ve been trying to recommend this book to every booktuber I follow and I am so incredibly happy you love Interview with the Vampire. When I was little my dad showed me the movie and I loved the story finally about 5 years ago, beginning of college I decided to read the book and I fell in love again. So far out of the vampire chronicles I’ve read the first 6 and of course some are better than others but the series has a special place in my heart. ❤
Love this book. Read it when I was a teenager. Claudia is based on Anne’s daughter Michele who passed away from leukemia when she was a child. Such a beautiful tribute to her.
I totally connect with what you said about the loneliness of not having someone to talk to in depth about books. I'm so glad you started this channel. I hope that I can find my own outlet for my book love.
I love that you talk about why you started your channel. Your channel inspired me to do the same. After you helped me reignite my love of reading I felt lonely not having anyone to talk to about all my books and so I started my channel to talk to the void/mass of the internet too. It’s been so awesome to follow you for the last year when I discovered booktube. You made my life better… thank you Emma 🥰
Emma’s testing hypothermia!! 😅 just what we all needed this Sunday morning a sweet, peaceful, and cozy fall vlog! 🍁Btw the music is just perfect!! If I smile anymore I’ll plotz! ❤
Ahhh! I'm so so glad you loved Interview! So much incorporated into it that can be contemplated and discussed, like the characters themselves do. I agree that the end of the book seems like an easy pathway to the next book, but initially it was just a novel and she didn't decide to continue in that universe and make it more fleshed out for a decade. So excited to see how things go as you continue the series, particularly with The Vampire Lestat :)
Omg I just finished Interview with the Vampire a couple days ago! It was also my first time reading it and I loved it. Rice is an agonizingly beautiful writer. I recommend doing some background reading about Anne Rice, her unique upbringing and her grief over the death of her young son. Very interesting lady!
i got through 200 pages of interview with a vampire (my copy is 3 stories in one so it's close to 1200 pages) and i've been stuck there for so long because the language and the length were both so intimidating but this video is motivating me to give it another try because you really highlight what is so special about this book.
The best part about you finding another favorite is that there is yet another book for all of us to read (at least for myself, your suggestions have been really great). I was actually skeptical this book would be any good so this is a surprise but I trust your judgment.
I watched yesterday the last episode of the new "Anna Rice's Interview with the Vampire" and loved it!! The first season is phenomenal, and it has already been renewed for a second one 😍 I recommend it if you liked the book 😊
Ha! I’m so glad you love Interview with the Vampire!!! I read it a couple years ago now, I felt the same way. It’s pacing is slow and it’s writing descriptions and characters are deep and passionate. I loved the description of the last sun rise I forgot I read it over and over and over… lol
OMG, I just finished the interview with the vampire this November 2nd after YEARS and YEARS on my shelf too and I was really surprised of how good it was and I don't know why it took me so long to read. My copy is in Portuguese though, but it's translated by our talented Clarice Lispector so it was a plus. Loved your vlog, Emma 🖤
This vlog is so cozy and healing! ✨️ So thankful I found a channel where I can just randomly tune into and immerse myself with your videos that is especially filled with nature and literature. Which is what I absolutely love
Oh Emma, it's hard to know where to start this comment. I'm a new sub, but have spent the last weeks watching so many of your older videos. First off, thank you. Thank you for sharing your life with us. You're an inspiration and your content is so beautiful. I've added so many books to my TBR. You've gotten me excited for Classics, for reading books from other countries, for pushing myself to stay vegan, and for so much more. Thank you for helping me find CarolynMarieReads and Ashleigh at A Frolic Through Fiction as well. I took some advice you gave on going backwards chronologically through authors to see how the language changes and be more equipped to read older books. When I get to the 70's (hopefully before the new year comes), Interview is now my official pick. I love your channel. Thank you! Love to you and love to Calcifer.
I had a very similar experience reading Interview with the Vampire. I picked it up for the first time this October and had no idea how to even try to talk about it or dissect everything I felt while reading it. Definitely will have to reread it in the future!
Anne Rice was the most original writer and her vampire and witches series are two of the most extraordinary sets of books. Anne Rice wrote Interview with the Vampire after the death of her little girl, she became fascinated and obsessed with blood because her 5 yo daughter died of a blood disease (not sure if it was Leukemia or something of that sort), in one of the biographies and interviews I listened to Anne said she and her husband went around in a drunken, dazed state after her death and she became intensely aware of blood. She then began to write Interview. Anne Rice was eccentric, sometimes bordering on unusual, even strange, but she was unique and she wrote some of the most extraordinary novels you will ever experience! The world lost an amazing and fascinating writer when she passed away. RIP Anne Rice ♥ 💘 💞
I've been in a huge reading slump, haven't read a thing outside of school since May... this vlog inspired me to pick up something from my shelf. Your passion is infectious, I'm always so glad to see what you share!
Omg i get what you mean! I felt the same way about A Man Called Ove - been sitting on my shelf for years before deciding to read it and now it is my fave book of all time! 😂
This is the first one of your vlogs where I've had to intentionally skip some talking sections because I'm currently in the middle of reading this book, and I'm loving it so much that I didn't want anything spoiled even a little bit haha. It is so freaking good, definitely a fast favorite for me as well -- I also can't believe I didn't read it sooner. Can't wait to rewatch this vlog and hear your opinions in their entirety once I finally finish it!
I absolutely love Interview. The 2nd and 3rd books are great too, but in a different way. The tone and scale are just not something you would expect from reading Interview, but they are still worth reading. I haven't read any other books past #3, since there seems to be a consensus that none of them are on par with the first 3 books and stopping there gives you a full arc.
I'm happy that you liked Interview with the Vampire. This book has been one of my favourites since my teenage years. There is also a gorgeously illustrated graphic novel by Ashley Marie Witter called Claudia's Story, which tells the story of Interview with the Vampire from Claudia's perspective.
so glad you loved it! i dropped a comment recommending it on your trip bak home vlog and it's made me so happy to watch you finally read it and enjoy it so much! recs are always a bit of a gamble but i was pretty sure this was a perfect match ;)
Some random tips for garlic cutting: cut off the bottom where it sits in the bulb (although you don't have to do this, the bottom of the garlic clove is perfectly edible and not something you would notice if you chucked it in a dish), then crush the clove with the flat of the knife. This releases the garlic inside from the skin and then you can literally peel the skin off in basically one piece. It also releases a lot of the flavour, and then you can rough chop it and chuck it into whatever you are eating and you'll have smaller pieces able to spread their flavour through the dish easier :) I would love the recipe for the vegan fish mix you put under the veggies in the tacos!
Always stay safe wherever you are. Emmie has always been an inspiration for many of us of here watching her videos regularly. We will all support her until the very end.
I kind of forgot about Anne Rice, I read her work religiously as a teen. Really loved the vampire chronicles I did read and mayfair witches series. Might go back and reread them since it's been a very long time.
And this my friends is why we read. I read Interview with the Vampire years and years ago, but I've just checked and I still have it on my shelves. I might be tempted to do a cosy re read.
omg i read iwtv 2 weeks ago and it's a new favourite too!!! i read the 2nd book right after and loved it even more (the new amc show is also AMAZING) ♡
OMG Emma, I'm currently watching the series, I think I'll buy the book after❤️❤️ 2023 is for books and watching your videos makes me want to just live in the library
I really loved the scenes at the beginning! OMG, was so relaxing 💕💕💕 in my country there’s not autumn and I love how it looks 🍂 also when you were marking your book! ❤️
Interview with a Vampire is one of the best Anne Rice novels. I also really enjoyed Belinda (published originally under the penname Anne Rampling). It's just as sensual as Interview and comes across as kinda sorta like her attempt at Lolita. Happy Fall!!!
heard you talking about it in your 2022 fav books video , lost my mind when I realized that I saw this one in my universitys library and its even a very old copy thee first one actually and after borrowing it I was searching your channel to find a vlog where you talk about it an dim so gladdd I found one
Claudia is a love hate for me in the movie, though idk how closely it follows the book. I have been wanting to pick it up also. Maybe it's about time. Louie just stole my heart. I love when a book makes me feel things, yeah I guess I'll pick it up today 😊
Fall is my favorite!! Its been freezing in Maine, except today. Today its close to 70. Interview with a vampire is seriously one of the best vampire books ever!! I love this book I read it when I was YOUNGER and always reread it! If you haven't seen the new TV show for interview with a vampire it's amazing and much more true to story
You make me want to re read Interview so bad. Also I have the sequels and before reading them I want to refresh my memory. We actually underlined a few of the same quotes. 😊
I understand completely, I also started booktube as a way to talk to people about books. I need to read Interview With a Vampire, its been on my list for ages
Book 2, The Vampire Lestat & book 3, Queen of the Damned are, IMO, 2 of the best vampire books ever written. The first 3 books are a complete masterpiece.
Thank you for this vlog and for sharing your thoughts on _Interview with the Vampire_ . Your video encouraged me to pick up this book. I'm currently reading it and enjoying it immensely, and I too am surprised at how deep the novel is. :)
I first read it at Uni 20+ years ago and I forget just how good it really is! I have read about two thirds of the series (I think I'm up to Blackwood Farm) and I really need to pick them up again.
My friend started watching the tv series that came out in 2022 (co-executive produced by Anne Rice herself!) and she’s raving about it - she’s a big lover of the book series and says the show captures the philosophical themes of the series extremely well
I remember when Interview With A Vampire first came out and it was a sensation. Everyone was reading it. I loved it and shared your feels for it. I saw the film when it came out but it really paled next to the book. Now I want to re-read it.
I think this is the first time I see you reading something I have read before, and I'm SO glad you enjoyed it, I read the first 3 books, The Vampire Lestat is amazing, starts a bit dumb but the whole book is so good, Lestat is definitely my favorite character. I didn't really like the third one though and it made me stop reading the series, but for now, enjoy The Vampire Lestat, Anne Rice's writing is gorgeous 🙌🏻
I HOPE you read the sequels. Lestat is SO much more fun as a narrator. His dangerous yet strangely loving nature, his brashness and carelessness, his courage and his amazing love of life mixed with his absolute constant existential dread has made him absolutely one of my favorite characters ever. Just keep in mind that Louis’ characterization of their relationship is only how he saw things, and he’s not always telling (or seeing) the full truth. He’s actually got quite a simple, one-note view of this existence that isn’t always what it truly, fully is. There is wonder and beauty in the savage garden, and Louis misses that fact sometimes. Lestat though? Complicated doesn’t even begin to describe it….. He’s actually quite irresistible once you get to know him! Claudia, though, remains (and always will be) entirely unforgivable 😔
Hi, Emma! If you are in the mood for one more vampire movie, but one with the existential/romance vibes you seem to enjoy, I'd highly recommend Only Lovers Left Alive, directed by Jim Jarmusch and staring Tilda Swinton and Tom Hiddleston. It's one of my favorite movies of all time and based on this vlog, I really think you might like it!
Emmie!! You Truly made me remember what it's like to have a knife-in-the-heart type feeling for a book. I've been having a major slump with not-so-great books. Thanks for the great recommendation def gonna sprint to read it now
Hey! I don’t know if you knew but recently an interview with the vampire show was released! Apparently it follows the books a bit more. ❤ loving the vampire hype!
This book ruined me too when I first read it many years ago and then I found myself unable to get out of that world. I read book after book... The vampire Lestat, The queen of the damned, The tale of the body thief, The vampire Armand, Blood and gold... I believe you will enjoy every one of them!
I went to see the movie adaptation ages ago and I remember laughing so much when the movie theatre didn’t have enough space for all the letters of the film title. The display read “Interview with a Vamp”
Weather is amazing and so is your coffee mug love it and love you and your amazing channel please stay safe and enjoy your reading 📖 prayers and thoughts for you and your family love your family friend and number one Aussie fan John ❤❤❤
today the last episode of the first season of the interview with the vampire tv show aired and i'm devastated. the show is amazing, i highly recommend it
My current favorit book (or series to be precisely) is Nevernight by Jay Kristoff. Although it's brutal sometimes I just like the setting there, how correct it's portrayed and I also like the Ancient Rome kind of setting. In English lessons we read Othello by William Shakespeare. It's a tough one for me because of the old language but I hope I'll like it after working with this piece. Have a nice day and a beautiful and cozy fall
Well I know what I'm reading next! Interview With The Vampire has been on my list for a while, the fact that you loved it is a really good sign that I will too
❤️❤️interview with a vampire💔💔 I'm so glad you read this! One of my fav books of all time!!! I read it loooong ago and it's always stuck with me. You've inspired me to pick it up again. This book (and movie) brought vampires to the scene way before Twilight ever did. IMO, Twilight doesn't hold a candle to this series. Anne Rice's writing is beautifully tragic. This vlog made my ❤️ so happy.
I'm reading 'Summer Light, and Then Comes the Night' by Stefansson because it was the only book of his on the library ebook app I use and it's soo ridiculously good. It's sort of a short story collection but they're all connected about this small village in Iceland and its 400 residents. There are so many good lines and I feel like I'm there with the characters. There's one section about why we write letters even though we have the internet and direct messaging that I loved so much and the writing flows so well, it's almost poetic. I think you'd really like it! Also, I just bought a copy of Interview With the Vampire because of this vlog and im so excited to read it hehe

Fall+ Gilmore girls+ A good book+ Pumpkin spice latte= Heaven
can I just say how much I love the little interludes of nature and just simple pretty things in your videos? absolutely adore

The absolute best vampire novel, hands down. Your enthusiasm is pulling me to read it again!
RIP Anne Rice, This blog makes me want to reread all of her writings! Thank you Emmie.

just in awe of how magical it is to watch someone find a new favourite book ♡♡♡
I feel like after reading the Vampire Lestat I understood him more and why he is how he is, I personally loved it ☺
I was enjoying it until the incestuous undertones because too much for me 😂

I’m currently also reading Interview With The Vampire. It’s so good.
Omg i get what you mean! I felt the same way about A Man Called Ove - been sitting on my shelf for years before deciding to read it and now it is my fave book of all time! 😂
A Man Called Ove is one of the best things I've ever read.
One of my favorite books! I’ve reread it many times. I’ve read all the Vampire novels. “Interview With The Vampire” is a beautiful read!😍
Can't wait to rewatch this vlog and hear your opinions in their entirety once I finally finish it!
i've been here since your first apartment 😭💗
Definitely adding interview with the vampire to my list. Perhaps it would make a good winter read?
Yes!!!!
something i didn't know i needed: emmie's review of interview with the vampire
I absolutely love Interview. The 2nd and 3rd books are great too, but in a different way. The tone and scale are just not something you would expect from reading Interview, but they are still worth reading. I haven't read any other books past #3, since there seems to be a consensus that none of them are on par with the first 3 books and stopping there gives you a full arc.
YESSSSSS!!! Rice is one of my favorites! I'm so jealous you get to read this one for the first time😍😍😍
I'm happy that you liked Interview with the Vampire.
It also releases a lot of the flavour, and then you can rough chop it and chuck it into whatever you are eating and you'll have smaller pieces able to spread their flavour through the dish easier :)
I would love the recipe for the vegan fish mix you put under the veggies in the tacos!
Omg finally!! Some nature. I missed it so much.
I totally approve of the map - it actually shows New Zealand AND has it in the correct place :D
omg i read iwtv 2 weeks ago and it's a new favourite too!!! i read the 2nd book right after and loved it even more (the new amc show is also AMAZING) ♡
ah amazing, I just saw about the new show - so glad to hear good things!!
@@emmiereads hope you like it if you do end up watching it!
you should check out Thirst, the Park Chan-wook film. It's very loosely based on Therese Raquin by Zola, but is also a very good vampire film
Interview with a Vampire is one of the best Anne Rice novels. I also really enjoyed Belinda (published originally under the penname Anne Rampling). It's just as sensual as Interview and comes across as kinda sorta like her attempt at Lolita. Happy Fall!!!
I have never read the interview with the vampire but I loved the movie, the idea of life and death and immortality captured me.
YES!! This is my all time fav-I had a feeling you would love it. I want to live in Anne Rice’s descriptions!
It's so good!!!
The new interview with the vampire tv series is soooooo good!
heard you talking about it in your 2022 fav books video , lost my mind when I realized that I saw this one in my universitys library and its even a very old copy thee first one actually and after borrowing it I was searching your channel to find a vlog where you talk about it an dim so gladdd I found one
cozy sunday with emmie video. highlight of the day
Claudia is a love hate for me in the movie, though idk how closely it follows the book. I have been wanting to pick it up also. Maybe it's about time. Louie just stole my heart. I love when a book makes me feel things, yeah I guess I'll pick it up today 😊
3:27 yes! This is how I felt recently after reading The Kite Runner.
I've always liked the movie, and the new show looks interesting. There goes Emmie making me wanna drop everything for a book again 😄
Interview with the Vampire is one of my favorite books, and i love the movie too. Calcifer is so cuuuuute! Best vlog, Emma! ❣️❣️❣️❣️
Ok, you've captured my interest in this book!!! Requested a kindle copy from my library 😁. Have an awesome weekend!!!
ooh hope you love it!!! you too beautiful
It was my most favorite book this year. The audio book on Audible was excellent too. It will stick with me a very long time.
My friend started watching the tv series that came out in 2022 (co-executive produced by Anne Rice herself!) and she’s raving about it - she’s a big lover of the book series and says the show captures the philosophical themes of the series extremely well
I loved the vampire lestat :3
Thankyou for another beautiful video. As always, the friend we all wish we had x
The tv show Interview with a Vampire is outstanding!!
I remember when Interview With A Vampire first came out and it was a sensation. Everyone was reading it. I loved it and shared your feels for it. I saw the film when it came out but it really paled next to the book. Now I want to re-read it.
Oh to experience and see fall's beauty!! Being a southeast asian the closest thing to seasons is when rain starts hailing lol
Love the way when you read you have ruler, sticker note, hightlighter.
I really need to read Godsgrave, it's been sitting on my shelf - I loved the first one so much:') thank you! have the coziest day
@@emmiereads you'll love the whole humor in the book. It's sometimes questionable but so funny to read alongside the main story
Well I know what I'm reading next! Interview With The Vampire has been on my list for a while, the fact that you loved it is a really good sign that I will too
This review made me pick it up. Thanks Emma. I’m really enjoying it.
