If I remember correctly, the Wild Hunt is in reference to Odin's Hunt from Norse mythology. Basically, in Norse mythology, sometimes when walking through the woods and everything is silent no wind rustling against the trees, no animals scurrying across the wood floor, nothing but the sound of howling wolves can be heard, then it is an omen that Odin's hunt has begun. It basically is an omen that something bad is going to happen such as a war, or disease, etc. The way it goes is that Odin rides his eight-legged horse Sleipnir, leaves the halls of Valhol (Valhalla) and goes on a hunt with his two wolves Freki and Geri (hence the howling of wolves). This usually happens every Wednesday hence Wodin's (Odin's) Day (Wednesday).
I’m not a massive fiction reader. Mainly non fiction. But even so I love your vlogs. First of all they are insanely calming, and yet also informative and stimulating. I envy your life and outlook, it seems all so calm and collected. Thank you for the inspiration
If you like Pamuk I would like to recommend his other masterpiece Museum of Innocence. Thats one of my favourite book. Also please try Elif Shafak! She is my new "author crush", I just binge ordered her books. So far I think Honour is my favourite.:)
Emma, what’s the name of the music you started this video with? You have inadvertently trained me to hum along to it whenever you play it, but I just now realised I have no idea what it is.
I'm sooo envious of the snow! Don't know where you live in the world since I just discovered your channel but in France where i live we have barely nothing... One day I will read a book in VO I'm so inspired by you to discover more English books and more classics!
Thank you for all the snow footage. Watching here from Australia, one has to travel far to see snow. I think I may purchase Ceasar next time I see it. You are certaintly influencing what I buy. :-)
@@melih6766 I am from Russia. I searched English-speaking channels to know what books are read in another countrys but find Leo Tolstoy. Lmao And I am sorry for mistakes
As a person who has been to Kars and seen its snow covered world, I loved hearing you talk about "Snow". It really reminded me of my trip there. I was actually supposed to read the book before I got there but I didn't have time. I hope you enjoy the book
7 A.M. alarm!. I can relate. 😆. I used to be there. Snow! Snow! More Snow. Shove the snowl. Then the City plows come by, and then you have to dig out again! 😆 With your talk on 'Snow', it really seems interesting. It's not my usual type of reading, but means it may broaden my horizons. I definitely will keep it in mind! 😃
I just bought Giovanni's Room, One Hundred Years of Solitude and Autobiography of Red at your recommendation. I can't wait to read them. They get here on Friday. I started watching you a few months ago and you've drastically changed my book taste. I couldn't be more thankful I've loved everything you recommended! I just finished Julius Ceaser for this months DA read and I adored it. I keep underestimating the writing of Shakespeare until I pick one up again.
Thx Emma, watching this makes my day better. I hope you're taking care of yourself. Maybe I'll see you this Saturday? If I can't then I'll be certain to comment on it afterward.
0:13 That is me, all the way! I will read in the weirdest places; on the floor anywhere in the house, including the kitchen, and occasionally the counter. I will choose to use a chair or couch as a backrest instead of actually sitting in it. I will never change, and I hope you don't either 😂
Yeah, Caesar the person is just a McGuffin. I really feel like, even more than most playwrights, Shakespeare should be seen performed in addition to being read. I think he intended his lines to be interpreted by actors and it's such a rich experience to see it that way. Even if it's just a group sitting around reading it out loud.
I'm not sure if you are on the website but you should start a Likewise account. It's a website that's geared towards videogames, movies, tv shows and books. You can make recommendations for the aforementioned things and people can like and share them. The website is kind of like Instagram but only entertainment stuff such as books, etc.
Hi Emma, I found this radio drama of star wars and thought of you - I'm not sure if you're a fan of the films as well as the novels but here is the link if you are: ruclips.net/video/0-29uKdckL4/видео.html - I've not listened to it yet but people seem to like it 😁 Hope you're keeping well and thank you for another cosy friend-filled vlog xx
