    Phonearena gave this a 8.7. Meanwhile they gave the iPhone SE a 9.0. And their cons were
    1. Iris Scanner is unreliable
    2. Fingerprint Scanner could be better
    3. Edge Screen is useless
    4. Camera post processing is too much
    wtf

      +Gregory Lanphear because of course, you already own one, correct? I'm thinking no, because it hasn't even been released yet. Secondly, you've tried other phones to compare the note 7 to, correct? I'm thinking that's also a NO.
      Is cool to love the note 7, but to say things like that, makes you sound WAY too much like a Samsung fanboy, and NOT an unbiased consumer.

    • @playerslayer4577
      @playerslayer4577 8 лет назад

      He meant a DAC separate from the one provided with Qualcomm's chipsets.

    • @TheJoeHindy
      @TheJoeHindy 8 лет назад +4

      +Andrew DD lol no it didn't. The V10 DAC actually powers my sennheiser headphones. The s7 edge (with the same 820 built in chip) could not.
      People with expensive headphones can definitely tell the difference.

    • @Kakeyoro
      @Kakeyoro 8 лет назад +1

      Ironically, the Qualcomm Aqstic DAC that's being used is the same one being used in the HTC 10. I think the difference in sound was/is the absence of an amp or proper equalizer. Between viper4android and rooting, I have no problem with that. My car's custom sound system has been centered around Note(s) since the second iteration.

    • @scottyrob82
      @scottyrob82 8 лет назад

      +Joseph Hindy The thing that sucks is that the DAC included with the Exynos chips etc is far superior than the Snapdragon DAC. I noticed this when I went from my Note 5 to the S7 and it was very noticeable. I wish the states got the Exynos chipset or that Qualcomm improved the DAC in theirs.

    • @TheJoeHindy
      @TheJoeHindy 8 лет назад

      Scotty Rob Samsung used to use Wolfson DACs and were years ahead of their time (galaxy s3 days), but never gave it the full potential in the software.

      +TheHerbaIist I don't see it as an improvement over the Note 5. I did not get the Note 5 because it got rid of important features, the Note 7 is what the Note 5 should have been, therefore it's an old phone in a new box. Long story short I would go for the S7 Edge before the Note 7. But most importantly I have a 6S Plus and a Moto X Pure so no need to invest in any other phones anytime soon.

    • @DrussNL
      @DrussNL 8 лет назад +8

      I mean, phone manufacturers keep one-upping each other (or themselves in this case) so each consecutive phone is often the best (in their price range). But I get what you mean as well, they should probably take that into account somehow.

    • @AndroidAuthority
      @AndroidAuthority  8 лет назад +46

      We're currently working on refining our review process but as it stands, the very best of the best get Editor's Choice. It is mostly related to the overall score the handset achieves and even then sometimes, we won't award it. Rest assured, we're listening to your feedback.

      @bakulnapalchyal1558 8 лет назад

      I know smartphones keep getting better but it would have been a better decision to award the smartphones at the year end when you have all the right contenders for your badge/award.
      I think it confuses the audience and also degrades the imp. of such badges with you seeing more of these.

    • @darrinthorpe9292
      @darrinthorpe9292 8 лет назад +2

      +Android Authority that's good to hear. Shouldn't you wait a few months after you've put 100 apps on it, etc and see if that 4gb of ram is actually enough to power this phone? Don't let the Samsung fanboys tell you is enough. I own the s7 edge, and 4gb isn't enough on MY phone to make it run smoothly. Not to mention the RAM management is horrible! To initially award it "best of the best" at this point, is premature.

    All phones have compromises, and most have many, many, many compromises. There is no perfect phone.
    But Samsung is the only one that comes closest to giving us the perfect phone with the least compromises.
    Samsung gives us class leading display (they always have every year), class leading camera, class leading RAM technology (not the most RAM, but what real world benefit are you going to see from 6gb over 4gb?), class leading CPU (Exynos), class leading storage technology, class leading base storage size, class leading software, class leading design, and class leading waterproofing without sacrificing design or function.
    Samsung's battery life has always been the best for many years since smartphones began, and has "only" shared the title of one of the best in the last 2 years.
    The only definite negative is sound. But how high of a priority is sound on a smartphone to most people?
    I know there are some small percentage of people where a certain feature is very important to them, and they're OK sacrificing other aspects of a phone to get the phone with that 1 feature. That's a valid reason to go with something else.
    But outside of that, most people who find something to nitpick about this phone don't understand that they're being irrational. They will be unable to find a phone whose whole package and quality level is better than the S7 Edge or the Note 7.
    It's about seeing the forest instead of the trees. You may be able to find 1 or 2 trees better on another phone, but Samsung's forest is the best.

    every smartphone with a 3.5mm port requires a DAC hence the note 7 does gave a dac. almost every audio device has a dac, it's the thing that converts your mp3 file to an analog signal. only USB type-c phones without 3.5mm might not have a dac but they probably do (for the call speaker near your ear).

      ***** WOW THAT IS A STEAL Urghhh i feel the pain with my s6 even. Maaann i don't even use it as my daily driver. The battery is so underwhelming and hard to replace too. I just used it for occasional snaps. The note 3 was the start of the perfect samsung phone (aside from the poor quality optics, note 4 fixed that, but the bezels were bigger than the 3 so bought an s6 to compensate)

    To say _"you simply need not look any further than the Samsung Galaxy Note 7"_ (16:17) is really bold. It's like you guys omit the S7 (Edge) on purpose, a brand new phone with the exact same specs that goes brand new, unlocked on e-bay for 569 dollar. That's right now *280 dollar* less for practically the exact same experience.

    Just ordered a new Note7 on the day my carrier discontinued it. I had to search to find it bc it didn't show up as an offered replacement. UPS says it will come tomorrow morning. I'm proud to get it. I'll turn off fast charging and I have taken precautions in case it does catch fire / explode but after a month or two I'll trust it. I'll definitely check it our when I get it (green battery ind., made in China, etc). But if it all checks out I'll be ecstatic. It's the phone I've always wanted ... a waterproof, drop-resistant note with QI charging and an outdoor-capable display.

  • @davidkirksey2263

    I haven't owned a flagship device since the S3. This phone is absolutely GORGEOUS! It's perfectly symmetrical, thin, a disgusting amount of space and all around amazing! I watch almost every phone review posted here and the Note 7 beats them all! Being an artist, I would love to use to the S Pen. Unfortunately, I have a LG Stylo 2 Plus and it's stylus is no where near as accurate or advanced. It's just a stylus. A chance to use or own a flagship would be dope. Great review, as always Josh! Keep it up! Can't wait to see the LG V20 or the iPhone 7. Just to see what Apple has to offer in terms of its competition. So far, it's looking bleak.

I'm very failure having only skipped the note 4 and just ditching my S7 edge. Battery life has been good, camera is great and multitasking unmatched. I'm a complete Apple user (have been for a decade now), but I'm getting increasingly drawn to the Note 7 and S7 Edge. I tried the latter on Sunday, and it was the first time I've used a demo Android device that wasn't dog-slow and I walked away very impressed. My only reservation is the software update fiasco - how long is it before Samsung get Android updates out to UK customers on EE-locked devices?

    Has anyone had any luck using Google Voice Input on the stock Samsung keyboard. I can only use Samsung Voice Input which is horrible. When I disable it and keep google voice input enabled the mic button on the keyboard does nothing. T-Mobile nor Samsung have been any help. On the Verizon, Sprint & AT&T Variants it works fine, in fact they don't even have a Samsung Voice Input option under the Samsung keyboard settings, only Google. This is driving me crazy as I use it constantly and my S7 was fine.

  • @RedFenceAnime
    @RedFenceAnime 8 лет назад

    Well I'd like all those features but there's always the need for an easily replaceable battery because in the 3 years I've owned my galaxy S4 I've need to replace the battery twice.
    My battery usually dies at 3 pm. At first I used to just charge my phone twice a day but that just kills the battery. Now I have a spare battery just replace it in ~5 seconds when needed.
    There is even a trick to do it so fast your phone doesn't even lose power and thus doesn't need a reboot.

    Awesome looking phone, I like that the rim is now onyx black like the color of the phone. I'd almost be jealous if I didn't choose to upgrade with the S7 Edge earlier this year. The S7E should have come with 64gb standard, and usb-c although the gear vr might have had something to do with that? S7E has been the best phone of the year up until now? Think it's been a good year for Samsung, and no ragrets with purchasing this phone.
