Phonearena gave this a 8.7. Meanwhile they gave the iPhone SE a 9.0. And their cons were 1. Iris Scanner is unreliable 2. Fingerprint Scanner could be better 3. Edge Screen is useless 4. Camera post processing is too much wtf
+Gregory Lanphear because of course, you already own one, correct? I'm thinking no, because it hasn't even been released yet. Secondly, you've tried other phones to compare the note 7 to, correct? I'm thinking that's also a NO. Is cool to love the note 7, but to say things like that, makes you sound WAY too much like a Samsung fanboy, and NOT an unbiased consumer.
Same here, i simply love my Note 3. Dropped it a few times while walking but fortunate enough to get away with a very slight (unnoticeable) ding. Big fan of Samsung and specially Note series!!!
I still use a Note 4. I've been holding out for a decent phone at a mid-range price but I might just get the Note 7 instead. I do love my s pen and this new phone just takes it to another level.

+Andrew DD lol no it didn't. The V10 DAC actually powers my sennheiser headphones. The s7 edge (with the same 820 built in chip) could not. People with expensive headphones can definitely tell the difference.
Ironically, the Qualcomm Aqstic DAC that's being used is the same one being used in the HTC 10. I think the difference in sound was/is the absence of an amp or proper equalizer. Between viper4android and rooting, I have no problem with that. My car's custom sound system has been centered around Note(s) since the second iteration.

Don't let the Samsung fanboys tell you is enough. I own the s7 edge, and 4gb isn't enough on MY phone to make it run smoothly. Not to mention the RAM management is horrible! To initially award it "best of the best" at this point, is premature.

But how high of a priority is sound on a smartphone to most people? I know there are some small percentage of people where a certain feature is very important to them, and they're OK sacrificing other aspects of a phone to get the phone with that 1 feature. That's a valid reason to go with something else. But outside of that, most people who find something to nitpick about this phone don't understand that they're being irrational. They will be unable to find a phone whose whole package and quality level is better than the S7 Edge or the Note 7. It's about seeing the forest instead of the trees. I lost my S-pen on my Note 3 and while I was waiting for a new one in the mail, I about died every time I went to pull it out... You never realize how much you use it until it's gone! I'm very excited to upgrade from my Note 3 to the 7!
Very true S-Pen is the primary reason staying with the Galaxy Notes Phablets.. Ive had the Note 2 and never gave up on me and now currently have the Note 4 and is even more brilliant.. A Note 7,.. Hmm I cannot wait to get one!!
My problem :( I have iPhone 6S plays and loved it! But becoming jaded with it and too big nowadays and heavy too! But still served me well and Good job Apple! But hey I already Preordered the Note 7 and picking up tomorrow from BestBuy and let's see whether Note 7 will be able to win me back to Android OS after I left disenchanted after Note 4 horrible experience and horrific glitches and bad finger scanner !!
man i used to watch android authority all the time. such great reviews. this galaxy note 7 review is a perfect example of a classic AA video. its the bomb .com as always
every smartphone with a 3.5mm port requires a DAC hence the note 7 does gave a dac. almost every audio device has a dac, it's the thing that converts your mp3 file to an analog signal. only USB type-c phones without 3.5mm might not have a dac but they probably do (for the call speaker near your ear).
***** WOW THAT IS A STEAL Urghhh i feel the pain with my s6 even. Maaann i don't even use it as my daily driver. The battery is so underwhelming and hard to replace too. I just used it for occasional snaps. The note 3 was the start of the perfect samsung phone (aside from the poor quality optics, note 4 fixed that, but the bezels were bigger than the 3 so bought an s6 to compensate)
The perfect review. I've seen almost all others reviews and no one this good. This guy knows how to give all the important things but also the details that matters most. Great video!
To say _"you simply need not look any further than the Samsung Galaxy Note 7"_ (16:17) is really bold. It's like you guys omit the S7 (Edge) on purpose, a brand new phone with the exact same specs that goes brand new, unlocked on e-bay for 569 dollar. That's right now *280 dollar* less for practically the exact same experience.
Just ordered a new Note7 on the day my carrier discontinued it. I had to search to find it bc it didn't show up as an offered replacement. UPS says it will come tomorrow morning. I'm proud to get it. I'll turn off fast charging and I have taken precautions in case it does catch fire / explode but after a month or two I'll trust it. I'll definitely check it our when I get it (green battery ind., made in China, etc). But if it all checks out I'll be ecstatic. It's the phone I've always wanted ... a waterproof, drop-resistant note with QI charging and an outdoor-capable display.
have the note 4 and got the s7 edge. I love both phones and you didn't do such a bad decision. but I must say the battery life on the s7 edge is amazing for now getting 7-9 hrs screen on time ! 4hrs 30 min with note 4 but can swap in less than 30 sec lol
Me too. I didn't break mine yet, but I've had to replace the nib several times already! I can never use a phone without an S-Pen. It looks like this year's S-Pen will appeal even to a lot more people than before too.
+AVA4444 Whaat??! Haha. I use it all the time outside and I've had a few people convert to the Note because of it too. Don't worry, the more you use it outside, the more people will be curious and the more you can show off all the cool things you can do with it! Hehe Eventually it will be even more commonly used.
Amy Fischer what broke on mine was the end came off along where is says samsung. there is a spring inside so i just super glued it back on. :-D all fixed
I LOVE this thing. Exchanged my S7 Edge for this and couldn't be happier. Thanks to the recall it seems they paid extra attention when making the new devices. And the phone actually looks professional again compared to the Note 5!
The symmetry on this phone is amazing. I showed this phone to my co workers and they all thought this new note series had a smaller screen than the previous note series. So easy to use and very comfortable in the hand. Best phone of the year for sure!
I haven't owned a flagship device since the S3. This phone is absolutely GORGEOUS! It's perfectly symmetrical, thin, a disgusting amount of space and all around amazing! I watch almost every phone review posted here and the Note 7 beats them all! Being an artist, I would love to use to the S Pen. Unfortunately, I have a LG Stylo 2 Plus and it's stylus is no where near as accurate or advanced. It's just a stylus. A chance to use or own a flagship would be dope. Great review, as always Josh! Keep it up! Can't wait to see the LG V20 or the iPhone 7. Just to see what Apple has to offer in terms of its competition. So far, it's looking bleak.
The iris scanner works fine with my prescription glasses on, I didn't think it would but it works almost as fast as without my glasses. I've been using it since release day and so far so good. I'm very failure having only skipped the note 4 and just ditching my S7 edge. Battery life has been good, camera is great and multitasking unmatched. The interface has come along way and is one of the most convenient devices I've use in my day to day life.
i just recently got my note 7 and dang its awesome love the way its built and it operates well in my opinion. trust me if you are in the market for a new smartphone look no more
Really loved this phone for the short amount of time I owned it. Got really bummed out about the replacements catching fire. Looks like I'll have to wait till the Note 8.
I'm a complete Apple user (have been for a decade now), but I'm getting increasingly drawn to the Note 7 and S7 Edge. I tried the latter on Sunday, and it was the first time I've used a demo Android device that wasn't dog-slow and I walked away very impressed. My only reservation is the software update fiasco - how long is it before Samsung get Android updates out to UK customers on EE-locked devices?
Josh, thanks for answering the sound quality of the Note7, I have an M8, so sound is a big issue, because of the price...I think I'll wait another year to get a Note phone, I've been off contract for about five months now. Not a big fan of the glass back, my wife has the S7 and hers cracked. Great video.
The Note 7 has one of biggest and scariest security issues so far. Leaving the Iris and fingerprint scanners useless. I've already reported this to Samsung and covered it in detail on my channel.
FINALLY THE NOTE SERIES IS WATERPROOF. i was so tired of putting a waterproof universal case on my phone when i go swimming and worrying that the case will fail and ruin the phone. don't have to worry about my phone being stolen while i'm swimming OR worry about water damage now. definitely getting this now.
How many here are watching this review on there note 7? Loving this phone and I can honestly say that its the 1st time I've been this excited about a phone.
I would still buy this phone if it was available, all note phones are good and last a few good years.. but my note 9 is a beast with these stereo speakers and battery life
I came from the note4 that had everything, I added a Qi wireless charging pad, note5 was a fail with a small battery, I skipped the note8 because it really didn't impress me, great phone but I didn't think the battery was on par.. note 9 awesome phone, love it.. 128gb and 256gb sd should last me, plus lots of cloud storage.. I'll probably hold onto this device for a few.. note sure the 10 will b much of an upgrade, but that charging speed would be great
And to think, the Note Edge started it all with it's own separate edge screen.. now the entire galaxy line has this option. I have the Galaxy 6 Edge Plus, not so sure if this is worth the upgrade to the Note 7... but love the looks of the device.
I'm definitely get in the note 7 I'm kinda glad I live in Europe to get the 8890 over the 820 snapdragon . due to the fact it has better battery life and overall performance and less lag
great video.please someone answer!!! i have had a s4 for the last 3 years.Should i buy the note 7,wait for mwc 2017(s8,g6,htc 2) or wait until late 2017 and buy the galaxy x (flexible samrtphone).thanks!
Has anyone had any luck using Google Voice Input on the stock Samsung keyboard. I can only use Samsung Voice Input which is horrible. When I disable it and keep google voice input enabled the mic button on the keyboard does nothing. T-Mobile nor Samsung have been any help. On the Verizon, Sprint & AT&T Variants it works fine, in fact they don't even have a Samsung Voice Input option under the Samsung keyboard settings, only Google. This is driving me crazy as I use it constantly and my S7 was fine.
There's no dac in the Note 7?! 6:50 Then how is the sound converted from digital to analog? All devices that playback music from a digital format have a dac!
11:54 DAMN already Cracked the front DISPLAY and shattered some of the top left corner ??lmao what happened ? was it to slippery or was it a total accident that would be nice to know before buying it how truly comfortable it is ?
I received an update tonight... nice small features were added.... one of them to change the screen resolution out side the power saving menus. .. and new mode for AOD... etc
Well I'd like all those features but there's always the need for an easily replaceable battery because in the 3 years I've owned my galaxy S4 I've need to replace the battery twice. My battery usually dies at 3 pm. At first I used to just charge my phone twice a day but that just kills the battery. Now I have a spare battery just replace it in ~5 seconds when needed. There is even a trick to do it so fast your phone doesn't even lose power and thus doesn't need a reboot.
Awesome looking phone, I like that the rim is now onyx black like the color of the phone. I'd almost be jealous if I didn't choose to upgrade with the S7 Edge earlier this year. The S7E should have come with 64gb standard, and usb-c although the gear vr might have had something to do with that? S7E has been the best phone of the year up until now? Think it's been a good year for Samsung, and no ragrets with purchasing this phone.
Very nice review, thanks. I just ordered mine today (or pre-ordered since it's a day or two away from going GA). I currently have a developers version of the Note 3 and skipped the Note 4 and Note 5. On my Note 3, I rarely, if ever ever, used the stylus. I think I will make a more conscious effort to use it with the Note 7. No phone is perfect, but this one seems to be a huge upgrade from the Note 3.
The S-Pen really takes your smartphone experience to another level. It'll be worth it to sit down and learn all the tricks you can do hehhe. I can't use a phone without an S-Pen anymore.

+Joni Johnson I didn't know that. That's very cool.
Not a day pass by that I don't use the S-pen. Original note users know this.
Me too. S-Pen is the best!
I lost my S-pen on my Note 3 and while I was waiting for a new one in the mail, I about died every time I went to pull it out... You never realize how much you use it until it's gone! I'm very excited to upgrade from my Note 3 to the 7!
+MistPassiert You will be blown away. Congratulations.. I've had every Note, (sPen is a work necessity) and this Note7 even blows away my Note5.
Very true S-Pen is the primary reason staying with the Galaxy Notes Phablets.. Ive had the Note 2 and never gave up on me and now currently have the Note 4 and is even more brilliant.. A Note 7,.. Hmm I cannot wait to get one!!
I would love a pen for my phone.
Id rather have a IR blaster than that iris scanner
Same.
same
Agreed.
Have had so much fun with the ir blaster on my LG g4! Still rocking the note 2. Its never felt better.
Same
the love the sound effects putting that bass all the way to the left as well as the instrument sound amazing
My problem :(
I have iPhone 6S plays and loved it!
The Galaxy Note 7 is Amazing ! , I heard it's the BOMB
6:50 "There is no DAC in the Note 7"
So... how do I listen to music then?
Still running this phone in 2020, brilliant phone when it doesn't, you know, turn into a ball of fire
Wait you still have one even now?
@@standupyak aye I'm typing this comment on it now

@@standupyak time will tell
@@rogehmarbi for your safety I think you should upgrade
man i used to watch android authority all the time. such great reviews. this galaxy note 7 review is a perfect example of a classic AA video. its the bomb .com as always
every smartphone with a 3.5mm port requires a DAC hence the note 7 does gave a dac. almost every audio device has a dac, it's the thing that converts your mp3 file to an analog signal. only USB type-c phones without 3.5mm might not have a dac but they probably do (for the call speaker near your ear).
what about note edge? wouldn't that be considered part of the note line?so Samsung didnt really skip a note?
That's what I was thinking
nope.
Edge was basically a Note 4.5.
+Robert “Rob” S just installed my note 3 with grace ux bwahahahahaha. maybe getting the 7 at nov?
***** WOW THAT IS A STEAL Urghhh i feel the pain with my s6 even. Maaann i don't even use it as my daily driver. The battery is so underwhelming and hard to replace too. I just used it for occasional snaps. The note 3 was the start of the perfect samsung phone (aside from the poor quality optics, note 4 fixed that, but the bezels were bigger than the 3 so bought an s6 to compensate)
"There's no DAC in the Note 7"
If there wasn't a DAC you would have no headphone audio bud.
He said no amp.. not dac
He also said DAC...
He isn't wrong. If you open the phone up and look around you will not find one. It's integrated into the processor.
Therefore there is an (integrated) DAC.
samsung canceled the sales for this phone, because some of them exploded in less then a month
The entire studio got burnt in flames up at 17:20
Bogdan - TC You sir, are correct.
nice review I pre-order the blue coral and got it in the mail today I love it so far

finally samsung made chinese people to open their eyes fully.....
Hahaha. LMAO
lmfao
not funny at all..
u broke my heart
no chill
Just ordered a new Note7 on the day my carrier discontinued it. I had to search to find it bc it didn't show up as an offered replacement. UPS says it will come tomorrow morning. I'm proud to get it. I'll turn off fast charging and I have taken precautions in case it does catch fire / explode but after a month or two I'll trust it. I'll definitely check it our when I get it (green battery ind., made in China, etc). But if it all checks out I'll be ecstatic. It's the phone I've always wanted ... a waterproof, drop-resistant note with QI charging and an outdoor-capable display.
Would anyone say that their note 7 is laggy? I want to go back to Samsung but I don't like that touch wiz lag
Haha that headphone jack joke. Looking at you Moto Z and iPhone 7.
I'll stay with my note 4 for another year :-)
have the note 4 and got the s7 edge. I love both phones and you didn't do such a bad decision. but I must say the battery life on the s7 edge is amazing for now getting 7-9 hrs screen on time ! 4hrs 30 min with note 4 but can swap in less than 30 sec lol
The 4 was (is) amazing the 5 not so much.
enjoy the mmc fail error coming soon
+Discord's Dynasty what is the mmc error?
Not to wonder that Note 4's Display and camera is still one of the bests.
interesting i'm one of the few who use my s pen every day. I've used it so much i broke it and had to glue it back together
Me too. I didn't break mine yet, but I've had to replace the nib several times already! I can never use a phone without an S-Pen. It looks like this year's S-Pen will appeal even to a lot more people than before too.
me too but not outside of my house. I don't want to look like a d-bag lol. my note3 is my computer though so I use the S-pen alot st home.
I broke my note 4 stylus. you can buy replacements super cheap on ebay.
You're the first one I've seen to mention the resolution feature, so awesome. Keep up the good work!
Samsung galaxy Nuke 7 :D

I miss it so much ;( REST IN PEACE!!!!

aliwalyd3 lol true!
Where's the damn IR Blaster? Sticking with my Note 3 until they figure it out!!!
Guess you will have a Note 3 for the rest of your life,
I rather have a removable battery than an IR blaster.
+Yujin J I'll take both. Now once SOT hits 12hrs with heavy usage then swapping batteries will no longer be needed.
It's coming next year on the S8 and Note8. Hang in there.
Bonedatt Proof?
I LOVE this thing. Exchanged my S7 Edge for this and couldn't be happier. Thanks to the recall it seems they paid extra attention when making the new devices. And the phone actually looks professional again compared to the Note 5!
These videos are just so cool to watch. You have some of the best tech videos on the web! And that intro was fire :)

The bomb jokes in this section cringes me alot
KABOOOOM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Heard it was the bomb.
Yeah im late and it's lame.
zenmar84 imma late too
The iris scanner works fine with my prescription glasses on, I didn't think it would but it works almost as fast as without my glasses. I've been using it since release day and so far so good. I'm very failure having only skipped the note 4 and just ditching my S7 edge. Battery life has been good, camera is great and multitasking unmatched. The interface has come along way and is one of the most convenient devices I've use in my day to day life.
This guy has the perfect review voice, well done!
i want a note 7...😓
it explodes
Krayola D what? no way are they releasing it again samsung even said they're discontinuing the note 7
they're reselling it soon

i just recently got my note 7 and dang its awesome love the way its built and it operates well in my opinion. trust me if you are in the market for a new smartphone look no more
Really loved this phone for the short amount of time I owned it. Got really bummed out about the replacements catching fire. Looks like I'll have to wait till the Note 8.
Another c4 knocking at the door
Josh, you are my favorite reviewer of AA, please tell everyone else to leave and do all the reviews :p
Great video.
i watched a couple of other reviews but honestly have to say this is the best one so far!!
The Note 7 has one of biggest and scariest security issues so far. Leaving the Iris and fingerprint scanners useless. I've already reported this to Samsung and covered it in detail on my channel.
The best review of the Note 7 so far loved it perfectly logical and detailed review Nice work Android authority!
I'll probably hold onto this device for a few.. note sure the 10 will b much of an upgrade, but that charging speed would be great
Excellent unbiased professional dispassionate review
Good job
the learning curve is my favorite part of getting a new phone!
I used to really hate touchwiz, but i'm glad that samsung has been streamlining their skin over the past year or so.
I'm glad too. The software here looks really gorgeous and useful at the same time!
Thank you for doing a full audio segment, especially including how the phone performs with headphones!
Does anyone know the name of the music starting at 0:34? Thanks.
very professional review !
your reviews keep getting better !
thanks
And to think, the Note Edge started it all with it's own separate edge screen.. now the entire galaxy line has this option. I have the Galaxy 6 Edge Plus, not so sure if this is worth the upgrade to the Note 7... but love the looks of the device.
I would wait for the S8/Note 8 to upgrade. The S6 in my opinion sucked I thought the S5 was better, No SD slot, not water resistant
note 7 battery burst into fire slows release. I will just enjoy my new note 5 thanks.
How do i get that wallpaper on the right? 3:34
Loved the intro! Best review I've seen yet!
Does anyone know what the game is called as he plays 3:06 into the video?
Then how is the sound converted from digital to analog? All devices that playback music from a digital format have a dac!
got mine on the 18th. so far I love. I don't use the headphone jack at all since my QC35 is Bluetooth.
oh yea the Iris scanner works when I have mh glasses on actually
You don't just give a review you educate and provide a different approach to present high tech devices to people. Quite refreshing
O cel. Galaxi S7 Edge e excelentes nos quesitos fotos? principalmente noturnas ? Alguém pode me ajudar ?
Samsung do a great job at addressing customer concerns and constructive criticism, often addressing those issues in their next model.
what's that on the bottom of note7 @ 2:00? Is it a crack?
I have 2 question? The Note 7 have a Private Mode and cpu cooling system like the S7?
