Fantastic video as usual Ken! I need to play this version of the game, I played the heck out of Link's Awakening DX on my GameBoy Color back in the day. Also, the dancing after you changed Link's name to Zelda was awesome.
Hey Ken, nice review, yeah same did have lot of fun with that version, just the dungeon that you make yourself, you did not have enough control to make it great!
Link's Awakening was such a great game. I remember playing the Deluxe edition on the Gameboy Color that has the exclusive color dungeon. It was a fun little gimmick for it's time
Ken bro you crushed this. I loved this remake. Didn't even know about the GBC stuff that was in this. I grew up with the original GB game. Not a big Zelda guy but Link's Awakenings deff one of my favs. Echoes of Wisdom felt like a chill successor.
I really liked Link's Awakening on GB, but I LOVED the Switch Remake. It looked and sounded as beautiful as my memories made it out to be. And the quality of life improvements with the items alone--fantastic!! Personally, I always liked the darker nature of the story and back then, it fit the narrative that would go on to build the NES originals. In those games, Link came from a far away land--how did he and then his descendants get to those lands? This bridged that gap, for me at least.
I worked at Thrifty scooping ice cream for my first job and we had Nintendo games in the photo department, my mom wondered how I suddenly had a bunch of games 😅
