  • asimplyfab.life/ Part 6 of our Europe Road Trip sees us back at Omaha Beach camping. We visited here back in 2008 and have been back a couple of times. Despite some heavy wind it continues to fascinate with its history, most notably, of course, but not restricted to the second world war. This also marked our official start and e had to open a very special bottle of red which we had saved for the occasion.

Camping Omaha Beach was normally our base for exploration. Back then it was a lot more basic - for example, there wasn't an indoor pool and the hedges seemed taller. There is now also a very good D Day museum right at the start of the entrance road: asimplyfab.life/normandy-omah...
This visit had its moments, and of natural causes being severely buffeted by forceful winds forcing us off the clifftop and eventually into the Landy in order to spare the tent any further damage. The cloudy skies, drizzle and eventual monsoon conditions also added to the particular charm of the region. Add in a rather special bottle of Bordeaux red and you have a lasting experience.
This is a good destination for the history buffs. This one overlooks the Omaha beach from the furthest westerly point at the town of Vierville-Sur-Mer. The nearby museum is easily accessible and it is quite centrally located to visit the various museums and memorials in the area. Just keep an eye on the wind...

So great to watch your adventures, I’ve been to Omaha beach many times & think what went on there & how it must of felt. You can’t help think of all those men & boys who died & their last day on earth there. Must have been terrifying. Anyway, keep on rolling as you say. Looking forward to the next simply fab life production😊 cheers folks
