    You should get yourself a parts washer. Clean everything before re assembly. I got mine at harbor freight cheap, but works good enough for what we do.

    We used to refer to those flex hones as dingleberry hones. Used 'em for the same thing you just did. We have a much better and more expensive, of course, hone for using after boring the cylinders. We use them to bring the cylinder to the exact size desired. Anyway, I saw you wiping the cylinder with the shop towel after honing. The cylinder should always be washed with soapy water after honing. Oil should be applied after washing. There are microscopic abrasive particles that no amount of wiping will remove and those particles will wear the rings quickly.

      Ive always used rubbing alcohol or lacquer thinner on microfiber towels to wipe down cylinders or mating surfaces after being honed, bored, or machined and i dont stop wiping until the clean spot on the microfiber no longer changes color. I use tht instead of soapy water because it will really get off EVERYTHING, itll evaporate off on its own, and i dont have to worry sbout any flash rusting possibilites or water contamination in any bearings. I also use a spray bottle with a light weight oil in it and mist it over everything and give the cylinders a good wiping with an oily microfiber. works absolutely beautifully.

      The old school term for those hones is bottle brushes.

      You oughtta see what happens when folks use scotch brite on engines! Guaranteed to take out cranks and cams. Folks don't get the abrasive residue 100% removed and the oil filter will bypass.

I can still remember that video where you got so upset about someone telling you that you didn't fix something right or it was something like that. You had a fit over it lol. Good job! Watching your journey through this one lets me know what I will have to go through on mine when it gets to that point. Mine was "warped" somehow, and I thought it was a bent frame. Turned out to be bent swingarm, but I tredged through a whole lengthy education (for myself) to figure out how to set it up to measure where and how it was warped. It was a fun education, though, and even more fun to make a set of videos on what I went through from beginning to end. Thanks for this series of videos!

    Good work man! You brought her back to life! Really amazing work! Back 2002 i was in doubt between the Yamaha warrior 350 and the Suzuki LTZ400 , I'm glad I've went with the Suzuki (huge room for improvement+ it really grew up with me) but seeing your warrior 350 now makes me want one! They are really good quads when you compare them to their competitors back in the day (warrior 350, Suzuki z400, Honda 400ex - but the banshee 350 was the king back then 😀) because of the reverse, 6 speeds, air-cooled!

    • @Davido50
      @Davido50 2 года назад +1

      Good pts i agree 👍. You made a good choice w/ Suzuki LTZ400 quad..some ppl don't realize Suzuki invented the modern quads in late 80s plus had 1st performance quads (Quadracer). Try get a real clean used Yamaha Raptor 350 (has updated Warrior engine) or if you have the financial means a new Raptor 700R. *Prob the best all around sport quad ever made!* We are lucky Yamaha still makes em. Hard to find @dealers as well.

    Noticed the intake valve's rocker wasn't making complete contact with the valve stem. It's almost half way off the stem, off to the left. Never seen that on an un damaged valve train before. Not on a Japanese manufactured engine.

    If you ever have a set of "disposable" plastics for a quad or dirtbike, you might want to try "lightly" heating them up with a torch a bit. I watched it done and it works AMAZING on plastics that you would assume were beyond bringing back. Obviously just go carefully and don't completely melt them, but try it on something that doesn't matter first and see how it goes ! I think you will be amazed.

    Just sayn,,,when u get the bike u powerwash ,then when u have the engine apart you Parts wash all that liked the head that was filthy,,, while the engine's getting fixed you touch up the paint that's when you would put the new shark on text brakes clean all that stuff up almost perfect, so when you put everything back together all you're doing is wiping it down with a waxy rag you seem to be doing things backwards
    It's almost like a mini restoration and you would get a lot more money for all your bikes..
    It just seems that it would be easier when everything's apart and you can reach and get to everything
    It seems like you get everything running so it wouldn't really be a waste of time cuz you always get the bike going

    The bike seems to be running soundly , however it bothers me enough to want to take my engine back apart , i rebuilt it already as a mock up to make sure things were seating properly etc but yano ...... i havent ridden for a couple of months and well...... I may have XD
