I'm 74 my husband is 72 and we live in my old family home which sits on 2 and a half archers together we take care of the whole thing including a swimming pool I'm not sure how much longer we can do it we have 3 kids who are understandably not able to help they have jobs most all our grandkids are adults and have jobs and no time so we try hard no matter how hard it is we keep almost the entire properly mowed groomed even the house work we keep a clean and tidy home but I have to admit it would be nice if they could find some time for us even to come and visit,
3 kids and adult grandkids - have you tried telling them that you could use a little help? Nothing wrong with making your needs known as I'm sure you have helped them all their lives. Sometimes our family needs a reminder that we are getting older and could use some assistance.
No excusing your children and grandchildren! We are the same age and the ONLY reason why they can't help is because they live in different states than us. In your case, if they live nearby, they need to help mom and dad. One day both of you won't be here anymore, and they'll regret not spending time with you. They can't devote ONE Saturday every other week to help? When did they turn so selfish? Kids, jobs, errands, cleaning, shopping--all the things that working people all over the world have to do, yet they somehow find the time to go to a movie, or the mall, or to the baseball game...again, no excuse.
Erik saves women, men, elderly, handicapped, ill, code enforcement and now birds 🐦. The place looks marvelous, simply marvelous. This woman deserved a nice blessing. Thanks Erik

Some people from a big church came and brought me an air conditioner and asked if I needed anything else and I said I need a new door and washing machine cause mine was broke and they said they would also mow my lawn .......Guess what ?They lied , haven't seen them sense , smh . @@Crystal_Blue_Persuasion This is out in the country... those neighbors have their own acres to upkeep. Plus it's a scary time to go knocking on unknown people's doors out in the country. A lot of people are trigger-happy, and while I don't let that ruin my sense of community here, I think I'd want them to ask first before I took initiative. Some people are particular about their property and their lawns.

I would think twice about living that far out by myself, and having health problems, she has a lot of property and can’t care for it, does she have any family that can help her? If it were me, I would sell and get someone to help care for me in town, with medical support, with what she would get for that property. I feel for her, and I know your helping for now, but what about in six months from now? I am 85, but I live in town, neighbors check on me, and my kids call, I can pay for a housekeeper. Only two miles from hospital. You’re a good man Eric.
I don't know the value of land where that lady lives, she might not make a large profit if she sells it but surely she can't stay there alone much longer!! It's a real dilemma about what to do when we get older and can't take care of our property or ourselves - I certainly understand those that want to stay in their forever home but sometimes we must downsize.
