Smoked a joint with them on their Shortbus with couches. That was a few yrs before Travis was in the band. Anyways, I want one, but cant bring myself to spend that kind of money on a MIM strat
All the reviews I’ve seen people enjoy it! I think the only disappointment is the fact it is 1300 bucks for a Mexican Strat This should’ve cost no more than 800 max
@@MJ-nk7mp yup! Better off making your own to your specs! That’s what I did and it came out amazing and like 600-700 bucks with everything being fender authentic
It would be an interesting guitar at half the price, but i suspect you could make a Squier as good or better, also at a lot less cost. I'd be interested to know if they are routed as a standard Strat!
A guy could pick up a CXS built Squier at a pawn shop for about 70$. He could order a pre-soldered single humbucker pickguard with a generic invader pickup for 40$. He could buy a nice set of locking tuners for 40$ and if he can operate a Phillips head screwdriver he could make his own in an afternoon for less than 175$. Plus he'd have the bragging rights to say "I built this" Now as fer me....I can't play a lick, and I poked out my eye last time I tried to use a screw driver and I have a sub 85 IQ but I own the biggest septic tank cleanin' business in the state so I'm a gonna just order me one of them purdy blue ones. I have friends that are a gonna be impressed with it a hangin' on my wall.
I made one. It's originally a hollowbody starcaster stratocaster (hollow as in, particle board) it has a Fender pickguard and that single fender humbucker with one volume. Chug! Chug!
I got mine from Thomann too and if I was being super super picky I could pick fault at a tiny scuff on one edge I could only see at a certain angle in a certain light, the nut edges weren't rounded off and the edge of the fretboard felt rough on one side but looked fine, BUT I bought it to play, not hang on the wall so I don't really care about those minute details. I'm just happy its back on sale again.
some internet nerd somewhere said cash grab... it's totally on brand for tom delonge, if you ask me. i still say parts-caster one together for cheaper. i also dont really like signature models because they usually come off like a cashgrab to me. besides, modding a guitar to similar specs maintains the inspiration from artist but adds a personalized story to it, and should make that axe more special to you, or something... but whatever, y'all do you, guitar nerds!
A Squier Sonic Hardtail, with a new solid shaft 250k pot, SD Invader bridge and a new pickguard does the trick for $300 a $400. And it will work hella fine.
Comparing this with my same priced ESP LTD M-1000 Purple Burst, and there are huge differences. Stainless S Frets, 57/66TW pickups, no fret sprouts, FR-1000 bridge, locking nut, neck-thru, and overall great quality. To me, this Fender is like a Squire that it's pickup has been upgraded... It'd had at least a nitro-cellulose finish, as I already said in my other comment. They also have a MiM Jimi Hendrix Strat for 1100 Euro=1000 Usd. which seems to be working well... Also Nostalgia... Still in stock. Poly finish for some reason doesn't stick to the body on Fenders, and once it has a scratch from an accident, you can scrape off little chunks of finish, or the entire finish, by the scratch, it's for me a big flaw.
Bought my TD strat about 10 years ago in mint condition on eBay for $500 for the same reason as you (I was 15 when dude ranch came out and became a now lifelong fan). Still love it to this day. Paying $1400 now is ridiculous. Even if you have 1400 to spend, why not pay less if you can? Didn't buy the starcaster at launch because I knew they'd be on eBay for less eventually. Now, just a couple months after release, they're going for $800-$900 new. In a few months, they'll be $700 and so on. If you're patient with new gear, the price always goes down
I love that guitar! so much that back in the day I bought a peavy predator then set it up with just a volume knob, fixed bridge and humbucker. LOL I also had to cut the spring on the E.
Thanks for the preset just got the Katana not to long ago and having a punk rock preset too have an idea where abouts I should have the knobs is nice thank you again
I picked up a MIM Charvel that I HATED, until I put a scalloped Warmoth neck on it, swapped out the Floyd Rose 1000 for a Gotoh 1996T, and replaced the Duncan pickups with Dimarzios. I play it all the time. NOW it feels like MY guitar.
I got the Daphne Blue direct from Fender. It came mostly in tune, no fret sprout, perfect neck pocket, and nearly perfect setup. I got the guitar for less than $1200 with their 10% discount they were offering. Like you, I’ve wanted that guitar since the early 2000’s, and too be honest, I’m happy it’s in my collection. The only other Mexican Fender I have is the Jim Root Tele, and this feels just as good, just not as good 😂. I think this Tom Delonge has a great tone, and I’m super happy to have it in my collection.
Why do people comment if a guitar is in tune when you get it or not. You shouldnt expect anything to come from a factory in tune, thats a nonsense factor
@@Ottophil Did you wake up crabby today, Phil? It was a comment about being surprised it was in close to being in tune. I don’t care if a guitar shows up in tune. None of my Charvels, Fenders, or Ibanez, with the exception of Gibson and this came set up correctly or had near perfect intonation. Do you want me to rewrite my comment? Did I strike that much of a nerve with you? Does it matter to me? No.
Man, I'd love to be able to have one of these. I'm not someone who listens to Blink that much anymore, or even that "kind of music," but yeah... I was a HUGE fan of theirs back in the day. I actually have a Partscaster Strat that I put Invader pickups ( _and a pearloid pickguard, lol_ ) onto and I loved that thing for a good while, some 15 years ago. The electronics in it are shot somehow though, so I need to figure out how to replace those/fix that issue. I have an Esquire where I put some Hot Rails pickups into it and a pearloid pickguard as my "main" now (well... "second stringer?"). Lol, I love pearloid pickguards. It had a wicked sticky neck so bad that I had to take sandpaper to it. Before I did that (just last year), I just wouldn't play it because it was too "sticky."
My dad played acoustic guitar for a very, very traditional southern Baptist church. Organ, piano, choir, everything. But when I bought my seafoam green tom delonge strat in the early 2000s my dad played it one time and instantly fell in love with it. He would play it instead of his acoustic and look completely ridiculous on stage. When I showed him they rereleased the guitar he acted like he didn’t even remember playing it at church. Wtf you played it every Sunday!
Great video! Would love to see one of those without an artist name assigned to it. If Fender does make something similar, I'd bet it's priced much lower.
Idk how I feel about the invader pickup, seems like a little too much “twang”, just personal opinion. I play the HSS Strat with the Shawbucker and going through the Boss Katana MK2 is great sounding. Great review video man!
Pickups are supposed to be set back 1/4 of an inch from the strings. Especially humbuckers because if they are too close it will pull the strings out of intonation. Learned this years ago because I always kept pick-ups super close to get more attack but I struggled with intonation because of it.
Looks and sounds like a pretty solid guitar. Personally, if I was to pay that amount for a guitar, I'd like more tone options AND locking tuners. Then again, I usually sling Gibson guitars. Gotta say that even though this is a limited one-trick pony guitar, that one trick it does extremely well! Perfect for Blink 182 songs 😁
I have to say, vintage tuners are so great. I enjoy them just as much as locking, as it achieves the same goal for me. Who knows why they left a better design for something more 'modern'. Locking/vintage> most modern/standard
I completely agree. I was sold that I would never want anything other than locking but, after getting a guitar with vintage split post tuners I am sold either option is a top choice.
First time I went to string vintage tuners it was a nightmare, felt like I needed a third arm. Now I wish all my standard non locking equipped guitars had vintage tuners, no slippage!
I still have my older Tom DeLonge strat from 20 years ago, the new reissue doesn’t really seem any different, mine came in all black I modified mine over the years, I never liked the Invader pickup that it came with, so I switched it out, the nut joint broke after a couple of years at the Low E string, but I had a roller nut installed at it was fine after that, the new price point is ridiculous, I remember a long time ago they had issued a squire model Tom Delonge strat that was way more affordable, but I learned how to play on a Tom DeLonge strat, and after a few tweaks it became something I always would use 👍
People are reacting negatively because it is made in USA priced for a made in Mexico guitar with no trem, one pickup and one knob. It has nothing to do with the quality or the sound.
at the end of the day, to me, the purpose of an artist a signature model isnt to create the best value for money for the consumer, its to sell the artist's personalized instrument to people who want to buy that. tom delonge's strat is an iconic instrument to many many people and that iconic image and association is also a huge selling point for the guitar, not just its features. its not designed to be versatile its designed to be the opposite, to fit the vision of one specific and beloved guitarist. it would be stupid for them to price this lower or similarly to a standard strat because it was designed specifically to be a collectors item for blink fans. to me, the pricing makes total sense
How is the placement of the bridge? Agufish received a model where the bottom E was practically hanging off the fretboard at the higher frets. It's hard to tell but when you place it on the scales, it does look mis-aligned?
I'm glad you like it. It's a nice guitar that's worth that much money Question . I think Fender is taking advantage of people. You know that on my costume? A couple 100 bucks to make
Got mine on launch day from sweetwater, the only issue I had was the nut wasn't properly filed resulting in some dead strings. Took to fender authorized shop under warranty and they did a full setup for free and now its working great.

Im 44 and i can remember Blink 182 and Unwritten Law playing a show in my town when I was 17 or 18. Used my older brothers ID to get in and rocked out to Cheshire Cat and OZ factor. Smoked a joint with them on their Shortbus with couches. That was a few yrs before Travis was in the band.
Anyways, I want one, but cant bring myself to spend that kind of money on a MIM strat
All the reviews I’ve seen people enjoy it! I think the only disappointment is the fact it is 1300 bucks for a Mexican Strat
This should’ve cost no more than 800 max
Fender junk
@@MJ-nk7mp yup!
Better off making your own to your specs! That’s what I did and it came out amazing and like 600-700 bucks with everything being fender authentic
i just got the same yellow one yesterday in the mail. it feels great and sounds awesome.
It would be an interesting guitar at half the price, but i suspect you could make a Squier as good or better, also at a lot less cost.
I'd be interested to know if they are routed as a standard Strat!
They are indeed routed with 3 pickup cavities like a standard strat.
I doubt they would go to the lengths of making new bodies for these or any single-pickup Strat. Easier to reuse the HSS bodies they already have.
Plus he'd have the bragging rights to say "I built this"
Now as fer me....I can't play a lick, and I poked out my eye last time I tried to use a screw driver and I have a sub 85 IQ but I own the biggest septic tank cleanin' business in the state so I'm a gonna just order me one of them purdy blue ones. I have friends that are a gonna be impressed with it a hangin' on my wall.
@@rustyshackleford9557 ya what this guy said.
Over $2000 CAD for this guitar is mental.
The "consistency" in the volume roll off is a treble bleed circuit.
Poly finish for some reason doesn't stick to the body on Fenders, and once it has a scratch from an accident, you can scrape off little chunks of finish, or the entire finish, by the scratch, it's for me a big flaw.
lol I have the M-1000 too and wtf are you comparing to a TD for? Weird flex
If you're patient with new gear, the price always goes down
your bridge is also misaligned like agufish had... seems the low E is meant to be riding the edge of the fretboard?
Oh my god that All the small things guitar sound is phenomenal
Mine is 20 years old, has great range if you like punk/metal/rock
I love that guitar! so much that back in the day I bought a peavy predator then set it up with just a volume knob, fixed bridge and humbucker. LOL I also had to cut the spring on the E.
Thank you for reviewing this one Andy! I love the color. Have you taken a look at electronics? Does this one has a treble bleed?
Got a Graffiti Yellow one on the way!
Thanks for the preset just got the Katana not to long ago and having a punk rock preset too have an idea where abouts I should have the knobs is nice thank you again
nice instrument, sounds good too, but, 1433eu for a sinlge pick, minimal, Fender Mexico, guitar, is'nt a bit too much?
No.
That yellow looks killer
Nice color yellow, big fan of the big Fender headstock, most of the 70's Fenders have the big headstock.
I just love you. You don't coat a thing.
Great video! Would love to see one of those without an artist name assigned to it. If Fender does make something similar, I'd bet it's priced much lower.
I’m disapointed because the only way to get a hardtail strat is if you get a signature or noventa
I remember paying 375 in 03 for my Denlong, I paid 250 for my hoppus bass in 08 as it was at the same music store for 5 years.
Idk how I feel about the invader pickup, seems like a little too much “twang”, just personal opinion. I play the HSS Strat with the Shawbucker and going through the Boss Katana MK2 is great sounding. Great review video man!
I was scrolling past, saw the thumbnail, and swear to god I thought that Steve-o was doing a skit in a curly wig 😂
8:12 how can you tell a part was not right? i didnt hear anything lol..
This guitar will only go up in value just like the original
I have to say, vintage tuners are so great. I enjoy them just as much as locking, as it achieves the same goal for me. Who knows why they left a better design for something more 'modern'. Locking/vintage> most modern/standard
I completely agree. I was sold that I would never want anything other than locking but, after getting a guitar with vintage split post tuners I am sold either option is a top choice.
That's the tuner bassist enjoy until now. It just makes sense. Stick it in and turn it, locks automatically.
First time I went to string vintage tuners it was a nightmare, felt like I needed a third arm. Now I wish all my standard non locking equipped guitars had vintage tuners, no slippage!
Yes!
That yellow will age nicely. I would like to see it in 10-20 years.
Poly finishes don’t age
I was proper excited when saw this had been reissued, then I went online and saw they were £1300 😮
Great video! Nice job!
at the end of the day, to me, the purpose of an artist a signature model isnt to create the best value for money for the consumer, its to sell the artist's personalized instrument to people who want to buy that. tom delonge's strat is an iconic instrument to many many people and that iconic image and association is also a huge selling point for the guitar, not just its features. its not designed to be versatile its designed to be the opposite, to fit the vision of one specific and beloved guitarist. it would be stupid for them to price this lower or similarly to a standard strat because it was designed specifically to be a collectors item for blink fans. to me, the pricing makes total sense
I’ve been wanting this guitar for SO LONG! Would have absolutely purchased a brand new one if I didn’t just buy a puppy :(
How is the placement of the bridge? Agufish received a model where the bottom E was practically hanging off the fretboard at the higher frets. It's hard to tell but when you place it on the scales, it does look mis-aligned?
holy crap, its worse than i thought,...now i think its a majority that have this issue
Awesome review ! Beautiful guitar
Seems weird that it wouldn't be coil split. It wouldn't take away from the simplicity and it would actually be a great feature.
After you released the kneck, I could see that E6 looked like it had become too close to the edge of the kneck. 12:00 to 12:10.
What about a comparison to the squire strat with a single humbucker?!?!
Great review. You can easily raise the pickup. Watching for a second time. I wonder if this can plan any other type of music.
it's a nice guitar, I just love the simplicity of it, however ,I would not go for a yellow finish though.
Haha it's a pee pee joke color guitar fitting for Tom Delonge 😂
that low E is off the board!
Could you possibly show the electronics? I do like when you open up the guitars.
I'm glad you like it. It's a nice guitar that's worth that much money Question . I think Fender is taking advantage of people. You know that on my costume? A couple 100 bucks to make
I believe it has a treble bleed circuit.
Got mine on launch day from sweetwater, the only issue I had was the nut wasn't properly filed resulting in some dead strings. Took to fender authorized shop under warranty and they did a full setup for free and now its working great.
for the money should be set up perfect and have a case
@@bikeman1x11 i agree, it is what it is. They can get away with it cause demand is high.
@@yourbuddykevin im going to build a partscaster version- I love bridge pickuo only guitars - i never use the neck anyway. Not an invader pickuo fan though

We would love a everyday guitar unboxing video from you! :D So fun! I have watched this video many times.
There’s a new one in Andertons for £849 at the moment, in black.
I wonder if it’s got the regular routing under the pick guard
HSH but I can't remember which channel I saw it. Maybe Trogly, maybe Play And Trade.
Great video. Seeing you fight the smile was funny to me.
Fender did release a Squier version of this guitar back in the "Take off your Pants and Jacket" days, and I have one :) , White body with white pick guard :)
great video! i might need one of these guitars in my life :)
Great review! Please do review the LIMITED EDITION SQUIER SONIC® STRATOCASTER® HT H and maybe even look at replacing the stock pickup with the Invader. Would be amazing to see.
