My 12 years of English classes as my 3rd language has finally come into use...
Actually najariya ki mari is also a remake from pakeezah movie. But with different arrangements and he has beautifully composed this song. And its really lovely that we get a so original and memorable song like masoom dil hai mera. Hats off to SANJAY LEELA BHANSALI 👏👏

Nazariya ki mari purani thumri hai. It was used in Pakeeza.
Its a thumri...even pakeeza copied it😂😂
So, many of Bhansali ji's songs are besed on Raag Yaman (Lydian in western music) with the sharp 4th note (teevra ma).
Here, phool gendwa na maaro, chaudhvi shab, masoom dil hai mera and Ek baar dekh li jiye are based on this raag.
Some older songs of Bhansali ji based on the same are Ek dil Ek jaan, Laal Ishq, albela sajan (some parts), Aaj Ibaadat.
Sakal Ban song is based on raag Bahar, which sounds similar to Vrindavani sarang ( Ghoomar is based on this raag).

At first I found the album average and then I got obsessed with every song. What an album. 😍😍
I think Nazariya ki mari is very famous Thumri song. It was also used by Kamal Amrohi in his Magnum Opus "Pakeezah" an it was sung by Praveen Sultana ( probably).Madhubanti bagchi's vocal is a exact replica of typical haunting and classical vocal of yesteryear Ghazal or Thumri3singers ❤
It was sung by Rajkumaari. She was actually chosen to sing in chorus but when the music director recognised her, he made her sing this song. That is why the pain can be felt in this song. SLB's version is not serious at all and there falls pale in the comparison with the older version.
@@Ajay-ph1ei Yes, I checked it later, it's Rajkumari and Kaun gali gayo Shyam was actually sung by Praveen Sultana.
I totally agree, one who have listened Rajkumari's version of this song, will definitely not prefer SLB's one, However Madhubanti Baghchi is a great artist.

I think most of the work is done by composers like Shreyas Puranik, Sanjay ji only gives the basic idea.

You forgot about the BGM of the entire series.... What a totally grand arrangement it was... I would say you must watch... You'll enjoy yaar musically yeh movie bht enriched hai... Bht saare youtubers ne review di hai is movie ki kehte hain bore ho jaoge but an actual music lover won't tell so after watching this series... Gaano ko sajaya hai series ke scenes ka demand dekhkar... And that song which is known as "Saiyaan hato jao" is really a captivating musical reflections of the tawaiff , who accidentally fell in love with a Nwab despite being a twaiff...

Masoom Dil sounds like "Jaiye aap kaha jayenge ye Nazar Laut k fir aayegi"
The attention to detail is commendable in the series.. every character has its own layers even the male characters are very well created. What worked best for me is the way SLB used every tiny little component of the set as a character to tell the story.. I have first watched to know the overall story and now rewatching solely for SLB's story telling.. a good watch
(Note : this is to encourage those who haven't watched yet )
Masoom dil sounds like maru bihag mixed with some yaman phrases. The other one you asked about sounds yaman-ish too. The chorus in masoom sounds like puriya-kalyan. SLB keeps milking Kalyan and purvi thaat based raags in a lot of his songs.

Some of the songs have actually grown on me after only 1 listen already, Sanjay Leela Bhansali is by far the most talented gems ever Indian cinema has got, he can direct masterclass movies, even compose songs so well, Heeramandi album is unique and classic, the instruments are well organised giving fusion and classical vibes, the sound arrangements are absolutely amazing.
Overall a great album ❤️👌
Aazadi, Sakal Ban & Maasoom dil hai mera are some of the best songs!❤👍

If you want to watch the series for feel good music in cinematic views so you definitely watch it otherwise if you want some amazing climax like present series have so you maybe not prefer it but it's all about the pre-independence era so if you like those time and elements you give it a try..

5:39 - 5:41 part from "Masoom Dil Hai Mera" song, the singing part actually, I found very similar to the song "Dil Jo Na Keh Saka" by sung Lata Mangeshkar ji in movie "Bheegi Raat" (1965). If you want to hear the later song, hear from 1:36 to1:39, you can find the a little bit of similarity too. Please let me know, if I'm right or not.

Sangeetarist bro, main ek baar maidaan dekhne gaya tha aur film shuru hone ke pehle ads waghere chal rahi fir suddenly 'Amar Singh Chamkila' ka trailer chalne laga and I was like
'Kaash yeh film cinemas mein release hoti, main toh zarror dekhta'
Idk but all of the songs are extremely well remade , and well produced , as a hard core classical and semi classical music listener , I was more than impressed the theme may be repetitive , but the singers and production unit did an excellent job

Sakal ban is raag Vrindavani Sarang, Masoom Dil is Yaman raag that's why sounding recreation. Yaman has been used a lot in Bollywood.
Still their is one big technical problem in Sakal ban, if I am not wrong, In the next line of "tarah tarah ke phool mangaye".
Le gadhva haathan mein *aaye*, the word *aaye* is not cropped and joined properly.

The series is may not be one of this 'Best' work but definitely worth watching..It has everything u expect from a SLB venture.. Stunning visual,set,costume,drama,great music etc..Criticism is fine but the hate is unnecessary..
