  • The Colnago C40 is the first break through carbon model from the Italian workshop of Ernesto Colnago, and our great friend and dearest fan Jakub bought it for his stable. By the way Kuba is the owner of the Colnago Master from our most viewed video! In today's video, I first remove all the remaining parts from the frame and then give the frame a good clean and polish. For the build Kuba added parts so that the Campagnolo Record titanium is a complete set. The titanium Cinelli stem is the icing on the cake! The result is a beautiful and perfectly functional piece of cycling history...
Colnago C40 je prvním karbonovým veleúspěšným modelem z italské dílny Ernesta Colnaga a náš velký kamarád a fanoušek Jakub si ho pořídil do své stáje. Mimochodem Kuba je majitelem Colnago Master z našeho nejsledovanějšího videa! V dnešním videu nejprve sundám z rámu všechny zbylé díly a pak rám pořádně vyčistím a vyleštím. Na stavbu Kuba doplnil díly tak aby Campagnolo Record titanium byla kopletní sada a titanový Cinelli představec třešničkou na dortu! Výsledkem je krásný a dokonale funkční kus cyklistické historie...

whenever I watch your builds I go out to my garage and look at my old 80s racing bike frame hanging up there. It was made by a UK frame builder called Major Nichols - in Reynolds 531 throughout. I've been meaning for years now to get it resprayed and built back up. failing health means I'll never ride it again, but just to have it to look at would give me a boost! I need to hurry up before it's too late!!!

It doesn't matter how fast and how much you ride your bike... the main thing is that you ride! Three years ago I started cycling again and it was scary, I was afraid I wouldn't get home from 30km! This year I rode almost 100 km 3 times a week and it was great. Even if you were to ride the bike that you have spread out in the garage only "around the chimney", it would be great! Do it! Now! ...and thank you very much for your huge support my friend.

La decoración de ese cuadro Colnago es una obra de arte.
El ajuste de los puentes de freno es muy curioso , un buen invento.
Y el montaje, una vez más es perfecto.
Gracias por tus vídeos y saludos desde España.

A very nice video, and nice upgrades to the bicycle. Last August I purchased a Gen 1 C40 (c. 1994-97) with an identical Art Decor paint scheme to the one in the video, although mine has a Colnago-branded Time Stiletto carbon fork. I am using Chorus 9-speed components. Although not the lightest bike, it is more than just beautiful: the C40 offers an amazing ride, particularly on descents. Wonderful...and three decades on I could finally afford one!

Congratulations on your C40, it's a perfect bike, I have two and I hope they still remember when I was young and cycling fast...

It's sooo great to see a similar bicycle with mine!
Actually I have a Colnago C40 1st gen Art Decor, with Johan Mousseuw's Campione del mondo sticker and Steel precisa fork.
And also put nimble crosswind pairs for my satisfaction(the air-splitting sound of this wheel is priceless), instead of Spinergy rev-X wheelset due to safety issues.
It might be the earliest version I guess, despite I resurrected this beauty with modern dura ace groupset and used modern carbon fork.
Even though it is not the latest one, but this is by far the most aesthetic, comfortable, and heritage-owning bicycle that I ever had.
It is a shame that I can't attach photo on this comment.
But have you ever seen 1 inch Star Carbon fork so far? It seems extremely hard to even find the thing.

    • @OnRoadVintageBikes
      @OnRoadVintageBikes  7 месяцев назад

As far as I know, Star forks are no longer even paid for in gold, but instead in human organs. I will be happy to see a photo of your bike at suchanek@onroad.cz if you send it to me. Thanks for the comment and enjoy your iconic bike.

Fantastic refurbishment as always! Also appreciated your changing the stem. Upward facing steerer stem not only looks wrong, it is ILLEGAL. (Few people know this). Keep the great vids going!

Enjoyed your vid immensely,, I’’ve mentioned before I always find watching you work so relaxing. From the brake guide position on the DT (as opposed the HT lug) think you may have a Mark II C40 there (?). Also dual thin seat stays. Great choices for the general refurbishment, nice its now all returned to 9 speed Record Campagnolo. Sensitive and sympathetic rebuild, nice touch on the TT cable guide and also using the gold Connex chain . Makes it feel as though summer has returned ! Chapeau my friend 👍 🌞

It's definitely a C40 older than my two frames. I have one with two thin seat stays, but already with holders for the shifting bowden, and I have one with a seat stay. Here is also the original bracket for the double shifter...Thank you for huge support.

No problem, like you content... Watching it all over and over again.
Those deep drop handlebars are so rare sight these days.
I'ii stick to 125mm drop, 42cm width on my roadies.
But, nonetheless, awesome build for such a legendary lady from 90s.

All the handlebars from the 90s were mostly poorly shaped, you couldn't hold it anywhere...
