Headlight Restoration Kit - G1900
"I recently purchased the Headlight Restoration Kit, and all I can say is WOW. I own a 1998 Mustang GT. It's my daily driver. Here in Wisconsin, cars take a beating. The headlights were in really bad shape. I tried another product that I found in a hardware store and it didn't do much. I was contemplating buying new headlight kits. I saw your ad in Autoweek, and watched the demo on your website. I thought I'd give it a try. I am very pleased with the result. The money I spent and the half hour of my time was worth it. I'll be looking for some of your other products to help bring back the exterior finish. If you have suggestions, I'm listening."

"I used your Headlight Restoration Kit and it worked really well. I had a lot of build-up on my headlights and I am definitely impressed with how well it worked. I had tried other products that hadn't worked and am definitely impressed with yours. Thank you!"

I use that on my 2006 Corolla every 1 to 2 years to keep them totally clear and free of haze. Works like a charm. I just use the drill buffing pad and a lot more polishing past then that guy uses (about 20 times more) and it works fast and easy. I use a variable speed drill at half speed, that way the polishing paste doesn't get flung out from the spinning pad because the pad spins more 'slowly'. Every now and then during the process, I take a wet shop rag, wipe down the headlight, and see what area needs more polishing, then continue with the polishing. After about 10 to 15 minutes the headlight is in new-like condition and good for another year or two of use. Unlike using sandpaper, this process is impossible to do wrong, no risk of doing any damage to the plastic surface. No need for clear coating, the surface of the plastic is left perfectly clear by the buffing/polishing pad alone. I guess you could put a clear coat on the surface of the plastic, but why bother when this polishing method is so easy and simple.
I love plastic x. Greatest product ever. I used it on my Toyota Paseo headlights and taillights and now they look like new again, and I still have a lot of product left. I got my best comment because they where selling a headlight restoration product around my local malls parking lot and the guy looked at my car and said "These are still new". LOL
2:47 "Allo-allo, what's goin' on ere then, sunshine?!"
Nice video. Thanks for showing how it's done!
Looks like a good addition to the product line
That's amazing!!!
I didn't even know that headlights can get that yellow, the end result looks simply amazing!
@myztichydra yes it is reusable and includes the product, drill pad, and towel. If you want more aggressive you can use the Meguiar's professional one that has sand paper. :D
good job man
Have it and i love it
I WILL HAVE TO GET THIS DONE
@lc2dae yes! this is a medium option, more aggressive than hand applied, but less aggressive than our new Heavy Duty Headlight kit that does include foam finishing discs to sand with.
@meguiarsasia i have this the first time i used the drill attachment it shred itself into alot of fibres and i had to get it off my car
can for plastic use plastX ? if plastic not weight damage ? can use by hand ?
HD would really help bring out the true finish this kit offers.
@DaleStiles thats the drivers side headlight that has the spider crack not the passenger which he did the polish on. He probably just did another 5050 on that side
does this kit include everything but the drill right? and is this reusable i was thinking about doing this for my fathers car which are worse than those headlights its practically yellow
Pastx....can you use that on an ipod screen? that would be sweet.
where did you get that polishing wheel from?
@UnstableCore its just an old vehicle in bangkok that we found. it has oxidation problems and is faded from the sun, rain and extreme environmental impacts.
I used this product and another one from 3M. 3M will work better if the lens are really beaten down by weather. I will test them again on my BMW.
@DawgcityClev it actually does, because its mildly abrasive, but it has to be paste, not gel or else it'll just make your lights smell good haha
do they sell this at walmart?and whats the reason for putting teh yellow tape in the middle?
i hav same exact car but with those clear glass lights and theyr very dirty both nside n out. the silver surface on inside is also n bad condition so light doesnt reflect well
if drying use what ? PVA chamois ? i have AION chamois, if i buy G220 and swirlX can remove 100% ? how to wash microfiber towel ?
@lunasicc916 you could use 1000 or 1200 and plastic x or fine compound
do they sell this at walmart?
what kind of drill did you use?
@BlueDemonGTR the backing plate came from the headlight kit
no problem
nice uuuh...........
can remove hard damage of plastic ??
what NXT shampoo effects ? than gold class shampoo ?
and what different gold class and NXT tech wax 2.0 ??
i want to buy G220, where r u Mr ??
@badlamb yes
I really need an answer, would retrofit these kind of headlights(such lenses) with projectors work out normal ? I mean all the car with projectors has plastic crystal clear lens ?
would this not work better if you rubbed it down with 2000 grit sandpaper to remove corrosion prior
great
people said PVA chamois can make swirl,
i believe in u meguiar's, if megs water magnet that's very good for drying ?
will this work with my canon camera lens?
Gold class gives more of a wet look and NXT gives better protection. Yes, Daniel is an expert in Indonesia for Meguiar's.
this headlight seems made of GLASS ! I aint blind
I use polisher and brasso for the MOT ever year
@undertake782 if the plastic is exposed to UV rays and sunlight...yes over time it will turn yellow....especially in very sunny environments
What will happen if i don't remove the tag?
sooo, if black car more good if use gold class yea ? soo black ? if NXT for high gloss, right ?
u know indonwsia meguiar's bos ? daniel
I polished my Chrysler Voyager Head Lights with 1200 grit W&D with soap and water, ONLY along the length of the light, then 2000 Grit and finally 3500.
Then towelling polishing cloth with Mequiar's Heavy Cut Cleaner followed by fine cut cleaner and finally a compound similar to the Headlight and plastic restorer. My headlights are now as they were new, $20 in polish and Abrasive Paper worth every bit.
NEVER in circles (Never use machine polishing IMHO it leaves swirl craze marks)
Wait, do all headlights turn yellow after a long time? Including new 2011 vehicles? The material seems so different than older materials.
to można zrobić zwykłą pastą ścierną do karoserii np. Tempo:)
What kind of polish liquid would u recommend? I'm a college student on a budget and i need to clean my camaro's headlights. :/
i think for plastic headlight is the best sandpaper 1000, 2000... 5000 and than polish paste?
can use wax or rubbing compound and drill away
Use gear lube it works great because i used on my car and it lasted months and also it is cheep and to make it last longer take the gear lube off after the headlights are treated then apply a clear coat.
@speedmasteruk1 i used to have that exact car it's thick plastic u can tell when u knock on it
yes
but no problem if i only have swirl use ultimate compound ?
if use likes PVA chamois no problem ?
yes, the best is to use microfiber drying towel.
@carguy379 On my car, as long as the scratch doesn't penetrate the clear coat itself, it will work fine. But if the scratch is paint deep then its ineffective.
@lunasicc916 this product is for light to medium defects. If you are sanding, you want our pro headlight kit.
plastic x is awesome
If you want the cheapest wax Meguiar's offers, it would be our consumer cleaner wax that polishes, protects and a bit of cleaning.
@Liberaltedjo yes plastx is to be used on plastic parts
so will this work in USA?
Hello, I live in Istanbul, Turkey. Can I order these set with credit card ? Could you send it by cargo ?
@lunasicc916 Wet sand with 1000 vertically then 2000 horizontally, then use this and it will look perfect!
@UnstableCore i really wanna see u doing that soap and water, make a video and see if it come out the same -.-
I can do that with tooth past on glass which is what they are polishing and it won,t cost £20 quid at halfords
Does your toothpaste offer UV-protection?
And what about glass lights? Like golf mk3?
That is glass lights in the video
u have facebook ?
i've NXT now, but i want to try gold class, gold class pasta / liquid ? for best result
How long does the application last?
About 8 weeks if you’re lucky
@DawgcityClev toothpaste buffing works but it sure ain't no natural conconction given the chemicals in that paste. The abrasive nature of the toothpaste will work as a 3000-4000 sanding paper but it won't protect the lense in the coming weeks/days. Use a wax or a seal to protect your plastic lense from UV light and ozone. Plastics will get discolored when exposed to sunlight unless protected
@Liberaltedjo to dry use a microfiber drying towel...G220 with Ultimate compound will be the strongest combination to remove defects...swirlx is the least aggressive consumer cleaner. microfiber towels should be put with only microfiber towels with normal clothing soap and air dried or machine dry with no drying towel.
On my Corolla which is the same exact model as that one, it's glass... On the newer ones, it's plastic...
SE PUEDE UTILIZAR PULIMENTO DE CARRO QUE SEA SUAVE , EL BLANCO Y CUALQUIER CERA DE CARRO NO OCUPAS NADA ESPECIAL
well finally, someone had washed the headlights ...
I'd look into Pittman's Onestep deoxidizer, simply wipes it away in seconds and UV safe and non abrasive so it wont turn em yellow over time. just search pittmanautocare.
pasta abrasiva fai prima ;)
Produkty do polerowania plexi na verad pl
polish* ... and @lc2dae suggested sanding it down with 2000 grit wet sandpaper, and if you're doing a deep restoration, that's exactly where to start. plastic headlights go to looking brand new with meguiar's when done properly.
@UnstableCore it doesnt actually. you need polish and sometimes even sandpaper to remove it
@badlamb No ofcourse not, it says "POLISH"
you need to protect it just like you would your car paint
@UnstableCore a real scratch will not be removed with just soap and water
@besir87 its not fake!
@DonRonter HAHAHAH yeah this sounds like Blade Runner!
1000 grit 2000 grit 3000 grit then plasix x or i heard tooth paste works too. i used the plastic x but ive heard good things about toothpaste too, lol ppl will do anything to save 3 bucks
i just replace a new plastic headlights..so simple
and recycle the old one because you're not a barbarian
No, your replying to a comment I made about how dirty this car is.
u can use car polish to its the same
Why does the music sound something from an 80's crime drama?
Hi everybody :)
Somebody would be so kind and explain why almost all the car manufacturers switched to the plastic headlamps?...(???) I still driving rather old car that has glass made headlamps and was shocked when discovered that all the new cars I have checked have sort of SOFT, easy to scratch plastics. Has anybody got less injured during impact with such a headlamp or car got substantially lighter?.... What was the reason for such an downgrade?
if the board has plastic on it, yes
Mother's Mag and Aluminum Polish
if you used a light sanding paper like 2500 or 3000 preferably. Really if you are sanding you should use our professional headlight kit.
@gone911helloWRX Toothpaste on headlights? LOL What brand? I'll throw that in my book of natural detailing concoctions. Natural lemon removes rust!!
Where was the plastic headkight?
he even buffed the area around the headlight, he should have covered it up with tape
It still looks oxidized in the upper left corner
toothpaste does, but you have to use generic normal toothpaste or with baking soda in it , non of the whitening stuff
the problem is with sanded headlight !! no Meguiars product can remove that unless you scrub it with a sandpaper .
Sean Brown u absolutely wright.Sand paper, compound and job done.Cheap and easy.Clip is jus an advert, expesive stuff not worth it.
