For these kind of movies i feel safe to live in south america. No matter if it's an alien invasion, catastrophe, a meteor crashing, or nuclear bomb, they always target the United States :D
@joseph adel Really? Because normal people who pay to see movies see it as a depiction of a meteor hitting Earth and nothing deeper than that...which is normal.
@@rprince418 Funny you should say that because I immediately thought of Obama's speech when he said "predator drones, you'll never see it coming" when I watched this scene. Lol
You can See World Trade Center in this movie, but in April 2002, This Movie aired on ABC which the world trade center getting hit by meteors is removed because of 9/11
so the safest place would be towards the impact...cuz it's unlikely a meteor shower will strike the exact same place twice, that is if you can make it there..
when the top of the Chrysler Building falls to the ground. and if you pause there. you can see that the top of the chrysler building's windows are small compare to the other building in the scene.
i think this is the only movie that isnt animated that i have cried watching, bruce willis sacrificing his life for the entire planet though he only did it to save his step daughter? fucking epic win
The real thing is that they wouldn’t be able to see them on their screens. In the 1950s, when the systems went online, the US nearly went to war dozens of times over meteors. All objects over 17 miles/second were programmed not to be displayed or counted. This filtered out the false contacts. Ballistic missiles would come in between 7 and 13 miles/second. The programming is still maintained to this day. Meteors come in at 18 to 50 miles/second with extrasolar objects at the high end and intrasolar objects at the low end. In the real world, meteors could rain down all over the US and the tracking systems wouldn’t show it or know anything about it.
I imagine that it also depends on size as well. Most meteors are quite small, and easily burn up in the atmosphere before even becoming a threat to an airliner let alone anyone on the ground. Ones large enough to become a threat would likely show up on their screens as those are the ones you gotta watch out for. Not that you'd be able to do anything about it....
I would actually be angry if Bay tried to make artistic statements (which is what Pearl Harbor was). He makes damn solid and entertaining popcorn flicks and nothing more.
Remind me to take the subway next time. No! Not Grand Central Station! I had a great plate of oysters at the Oyster Bar downstairs. I was planning to get back there next summer. Oh wait... it's just a movie, right?
Gloriously farcical. I especially like the way the meteors are inexplicably hitting horizontally. Second most ridiculous moment, after the montage of the waiting, watching crowds in the many different cities of Earth, all looking up to pray along Bruce Willis AT SUNSET.
@chitoryu12 Because the meteor doesn't leave a bunch of burning jet fuel, so the steel doesn't really have time to melt like it did on 9/11. The meteor strike leaves the structural integrity of the building intact.
This just sums up Michael Bay in one scene. Just one scene.
Yup.
Fun.
The visual effects have held up extremely well.. considering this was *20 YEARS AGO*
Mix of practical effects made it look better
Fun fact: this movie was ruined because of 9/11
"saddam hussein is bombing us" favorite line
+metalhead nefarious hidden messages - the build-up to 9/11 lol
+metalhead nefarious Maybe he should had said Osama Bin Laden
South Park Joke
Even had Saddam been foolish enough to try to do so, he hadn't the ability to bomb New York
It dates that movie so much. It’s such a relic by today’s standards.
how to survive a movie catastrophe : hold a dog or any other animal
Krucek rog He's trying to protect his pet dog.
+Krucek rog especcially if its a michael bay movie catastrophe
The most powerful shield ever lol
Krucek how to survive a catastrophe don't be in a Michael Bay movie or have any thing to do with one.
I thought this scene was funny and scary at the same time I want to say like the cab driver and customer " I want to go shopping!!
That guys shirt.
"I
Chendemonium he ain’t loving it no more after the shit he seen.
lol
Classic Michael Bay.
It's a movie rule: you ALWAYS have to blow up the Chrysler building.
that was the first action movie i watched in a cinema and it blows me away. this scene was so epic and i loved it.
Explosions, explosions everywhere!
+Super Mitch Productions It is as if Michael Bay did this scene
With this much shit on screen, how could it NOT be Michael Bay?!?
For these kind of movies i feel safe to live in south america. No matter if it's an alien invasion, catastrophe, a meteor crashing, or nuclear bomb, they always target the United States :D
Cause south America doesn't matter.😂
Well only New York or LA
Poor New York, in each apocalyptical movie it is the main victim of The anger of the nature.
+sandrik100 along with the ggolden gate bridge
Natural disasters, aliens, terrorists, monsters, and zombies just love fucking up NYC
Fortunately for budget reasons the main target has been moved to Los Angeles and Vancouver.
You seen 2012? I think LA got the worst out of all the cities in every disaster films ever made in that one 😆
@@martinlopez2816Don't forget San Andreas
The decepticon army has arrived
The poor people in the Bayverse never get rest. Now, they´ve been hit by a meteor shower twice! Once in this movie, and once in Transformers 2.
Gui Caldo That is Michael Bay's thing.
1:13 Well THAT shot didn't age well
not to mention the one after that but not in this video... *shivers*
Who was going to imagine that 3 years after this movie was released the World Trade Center was goint to be hit but not by meteors.
Bush or ben laden
Nice one
@joseph adel Really? Because normal people who pay to see movies see it as a depiction of a meteor hitting Earth and nothing deeper than that...which is normal.

this may have come out 5 years before 9/11 actually. Not sure how it got mixed up with 1998.
Twitter Society when you have an opinion:
When Decepticons come down in New York.. Alternate attack in Revenge of the Fallen..
I would love to see a video from the driver's perspective making a tiktok or something
"Shits falling from the sky🤣🤣😱"
1:14 wow...watch the meteor that hits the South Tower. That’s almost *exactly* where Flight 175 struck.
No it's not. Flight 175 struck more to the top. That meteor was like at the bottom.
It hit's north tower not south.
@@thnhbinhjack52 that is the South Tower.
The whole movie should be like this in the IMAX it would be scary to see those explosions come close to you out of the screen.
I think some people died
lol
Just a couple lol
This movie takes before 911, and the twin towers are missing chunks, theses rocks are the bad guys
The fan community whenever a show goes on hiatus
Thatmariohead especially DuckTales.
0:41 give me chills thinking that they’re actually gone now, and something like that actually happened to them.
1:14 give me chills as to exactly where flight 175 hit
0:41 Ideogram sculpture between the former Twin Towers!
You can See World Trade Center in this movie, but in April 2002, This Movie aired on ABC which the world trade center getting hit by meteors is removed because of 9/11
Jerry Duarte That can be seen in the edited for television version.
I think they put it back in
Wow the world trade center got pwned by the meteor
yeah....
The Meteors look like missiles/artillery shells
Kinda why the taxi driver thought Saddam Hussein was bombing them.
@joseph adel what you think of biological bomb new Germany 2025 technology grew stronger men got weaker
so the safest place would be towards the impact...cuz it's unlikely a meteor shower will strike the exact same place twice, that is if you can make it there..
My favorite of this movie.
The SAME location as the final battle at the end of the first Transformers if you look at the lights and signage
"Saddam Hussein is bombing us!" This dates the movie... so much.. LOL
...And this is the same area where they filmed the final scene in the first Transformers movie, you can tell by the buildings in the background.
do you mean new york
I was just laughing at how calm the dog was
I love how the one meteor goes in the building at 0:40 but all pillars blow up of them own
0:40
Shockwave?
when the top of the Chrysler Building falls to the ground. and if you pause there. you can see that the top of the chrysler building's windows are small compare to the other building in the scene.
I love the explosions in this movie!!! 👍👍👍
The Twin Towers can handle an asteriod hit but not 2 planes?
Meteors: "I got dibs on Grand Central!"
Don't look up!
holy crap is this part of a movie? that was awsome! scary but awsome!
It's a movie, you're meant to have fun watching things that you havn't seen/experienced before :D
Directed By Mich- Oh Wait NVM
0:50 nice wilhelm scream
i just saw this movie for the first time and one thing that got my attencion was that this scene never gets mencion thorough the rest of the movie. Oo
i think this is the only movie that isnt animated that i have cried watching, bruce willis sacrificing his life for the entire planet though he only did it to save his step daughter? fucking epic win
This reminded me of why I stopped watching movies
No!! Not the grand central terminal building, I love that place.
look at that taxy at 1:28 there is a man falling on a taxi XD
Massive disasters tend to only hit the largest cities. Never somewhere like Iowa, or the middle of the ocean.
Apparently there's a bomb at every place the meteorites hit.
National Acrobat You must not know how meteors work huh? They can explode on impact.
The dog hanging by its neck on the leash in the crater has got to be among the most rediculous survival scenes for a dog in a movie
0:42 1:14 Scenes of the twin towers
In a sick sick way, I actually have fun watching this sort of thing. I should probably see a therapist.
Anyone else see the guy body slam the taxi at 1:27?
0:33 "SADDAM HUSSEIN IS BOMBING US!!"
I didn't know that meteors were made of pressure sensitive high explosives...
Isn't it ironic that after this sequence, along with the first attack sequence in ID4, that the World Trade Center still stands?
The real thing is that they wouldn’t be able to see them on their screens. In the 1950s, when the systems went online, the US nearly went to war dozens of times over meteors. In reality the people of New York would’ve gone right on with their day after that was over. They don’t have time for a meteor shower.
JurassicYeti im crying
OOOMG
the top of the Chrysler Building :-O
This is the Studio Edit!
Does anyone even notice the dude mentioned us being at war with sadam Hussein ?? We weren't even at war with Iraq when this movie came out !?
yes a meteor is on fire before it hits because of all the fiction it get from moving so fast through the atmosphere
From the movie about oil drillers. and a meteor shower. Special effects are good.
I finally understood what he said here 0:33 Hahaha XD
Its like every car is loaded with explosives or something
Mah favourite film!
I feel like a Transformers' movie
no se que tiene esta escena que hace que la veas mas de 2 veces
LMAO at the guy in the I love NY t-shirt at 0:50
0:49 i ♥ NY xD

The Twin Tower Warning prediction at 1:13
true
el realismo de la escena es muy genuino
lol look at the guy that hit the cab at the end of the video at 1:29
"we at war" "Saddam Hussien's bommin' us"
"ahhhhhH! ahhhH!" "help" "Get out of here".

(Groucho Marx voice) Armageddon outta here!
Back in the 90s, action movies like this seemed so real, now it's laughable. xD
Michael Bay EXPLOSIONS!!!!
SPLOSION!!!!!
0:48 "I ♥ NY" lol

totally awesome!!
Mark Curry Had a Cameo in Armageddon playing a Cab Driver running from the meteor he didn’t die though
Michael Bay really gets off on explosions, doesn't he?
Man, I love this GTA mod 😍😍
Thank god the dog and guy was ok.
lol the dude running while holding his dog is from the day after tomorrow
Pug looked rather cute closing it's eyes at 0:55 to 0:57 to avoid dust and rubble
Yes
Michael Bay presents: EXPLOSIONS.
That's in 1998
@chitoryu12 Because the meteor doesn't leave a bunch of burning jet fuel, so the steel doesn't really have time to melt like it did on 9/11. The meteor strike leaves the structural integrity of the building intact.
Objects hitting reentry can reach 3000 degrees Fahrenheit.
this is embrassing!!
I love it when shit gets blown up! Bay rules
every building that is destroyed would be something famous
" war, we're at war!, saddam husein is bombing us! '' i died hahaha!!!
God bless America.
lol at the screamming falling people.
