no he just wanted to witness it. If these main characters can survive then he could maybe probably survive, which is enough hope for anyone to run away.
Yeah I don't care. wanting to see it or not and wanting to outrun it or not, there is no way he would have not been blown to pieces in the initial blast being that close to the volcano. and there's no way a van or even a plane that's off as it erupts would be able to get away form the violent clouds of pyroclastic flows.
Lol your points stupid as the people who did run from it escaped fine 😂

The fact that there's an actual super volcano lying dormant in Yellowstone makes this extra terrifying
What really gets the wheels turning in my head, is that this is likely only how a Yellowstone super eruption would start. It can start as small as something like Mt. Stain Helens, or like in this movie. But it will progress to having more vents opening up around the rim of the new caldera, the vents unzipping to form one, MASSIVE volcanic vent. When this happens, the overlaying rock will collapse into the chamber.
That explosion would be so loud, anyone within a distance to see it, their ears drums would rupture
From our perspective, the explosion was actually kinda quiet ngl

This is one of the rare times where Hollywood actually didn't overdo it. They underdid that explosion which is stupidly scary
I'm pretty sure that the sheer sound would have destroyed their heads in a split second.
Endless Lore Absolutely. The shockwave would shatter eardrums even miles away.
The Punisher More like thousands, tens of thousands, could be hundreds of thousands even. Krakatoa was only the _second_ most powerful volcanic eruption in recorded history, and it could be heard over 3,000 miles away. *3,000 miles away.* Yellowstone’s eruption would be a thousand times bigger and more powerful. It would affect the entire world, the ash cloud so big it would block out sunlight for years on end. Under did it can’t even begin to express how dumbed down it is. Half of America would be gone.
McK Plot armor
I actually think they overdid it.
A supervolcano like Yellowstone doesn’t explode like a gigantic nuke going off.
You should give the BBC/Discovery Channel TV movie Supervolcano from 2005 a watch, it does a much better job of realistically depicting a Yellowstone eruption.
It would more likely be a whole bunch of VEI 5 (Mount St Helens sized) eruptions across the width and breadth of the caldera, unzipping it if you will, and after a long period of eruption, they’l coalesce into one large vent, before that will then collapse to form a new caldera.
What I’m getting at is that it’s a gradual process, a violent one to be sure, but moe gradual than the overly Hollywood-ised thing of it being one massive blast.
Ground deformation does occur, but it doesn’t bubble up in like a 50 storey balloon, that’s absolutely ridiculous.

There are mountains ranges in that area with big gaps in them. I watched in 2009 and was scared to lived till 2012
Ima show this movie to my kids and tell them it’s a documentary
Just imagine trying to run away from yellow stone while your just a few miles a way
Imagine how the astronauts in the ISS felt at that moment. Watching the face of the earth change before their very eyes.
Damn. I wonder if they could survive up there though.
@@scoundrel7011 The book World War Z is really the only one who covered that topic. Where astronauts would survive as long as their supplies lasted, having to watch as the earth died, unable to help or even get home if they wanted to. Crazy.
You peeps are adorable. Real life tragedies occuring every second on this earth and you make hypothesises based on one of the biggest dogshit movies of the 21st century.
@@hiltonb8876 The astronauts can evacuate the station at any time using the Soyuz. It's basically an escape pod.

You're even adorable not knowing the word 'imagine' is there.
0:18 I really like the contrast on their faces, one is absolutely horrified while the other one is like he has seen the most magical thing in his life.
One has a sense of self preservation and another is absolutely insane
the sad thing is most people would just freeze, we as humans fear what we don't understand
@@mattb9054 i feel like everyone would hear the sound and flinch in a unimaginable way at a lsot for words and confusion theyd freeze and for those who were close enoguh to see it blind deaf and vaporized all in under a nano second
The real definition of finding beauty in the storm
@@mattb9054 Well you would be freezing, because it’s Yellowstone! That’s VERY understandable.
Most expressive child acting award goes tooooooo
My Dad told me, this is how he use to go to school !!!
Watching 2012 which was made in 2009 while in 2018.
Somehow using dates in movietitles is heavily awkward.
Yeah
It was released in 2009, they started making it years before probably
Yep, about a month before Avatar came out.
TNovix I wonder how scared people were thinking it might actually happen in 3 years lol
If we are going to be realistic, this would be the BEST case scenario if Yellowstone actually erupted
No the best case is actually just lava flows which is luckily what it looks like its going to be
SonarGD really??? How you know?
@@angel.1202 because it's happened before with other supervolcanos
Rut to raggy yellow stone is having a terrible stomach problem and its gonna have E X P L O S I V E V O M I T
Or, the best case scenario would be if it didn’t erupt at all...
"Boo-Boo, what's-a that rumbling sound?"
2:52 This has to be my favorite part of this clip.
