My cat was on steroids for over a year. He has eosinophilic granuloma which caused him to grow nodules on the back of his throat , they were so large they started to choke him and sores on his gums. You couldn't see them unless you pulled his tongue out. After a lazer surgery he was put on steroids . I did an elimination diet and found he was allergic to fish, chicken, beef and rabbit. I started him on a raw homemade diet. I slowly got him off steroids , I have been using Adorded Beast Omegas ,and Turkey tail and probiotics. But he now has developed inflamed gums and sores with diarrhea. Taking him into the vets for a blood test. Starting him on Liver Tonic ? Hope I can find a long lasting solution. Your info and products are so beneficial thank you!
My husky has had Ibd since a puppy and is 4 now. We have spent thousands and still struggling. I need to find a good vet in Honolulu that will fix the leaky gut and help me find the right diet. Still searching! Meanwhile using Dr Judy's recipes. Very thankful for this information and praying we will find the right vet to work with us.
Vet prescribed Prednisone for my 2 Mastiffs because of severe allergies for 6 months. I blame the drug for their deaths and would never give it again or allow my family to take it. Heartbreaking.
My dog has Addisons disease is there any way to get her off of the prednisone? She is 75 lbs on 1 mg of Prednisone daily, is there any natural alternative?
Thank you, for 25 years prednisolone has been prescribed to my cats for various issues. My current cat had feline herpes as a kitten and has occasional flareups. Now I know not to accept this for her without asking for an alternative for whatever might need to be treated.
I gave my allergy girl ( Boston) a low dose of 5 mg for 3 days and then tapered for 3 days. Did absolutely nothing and she's so sad and low energy. Skin is out of control. Ordered some adorned beast gut soothe and cessorex and will be starting food elimination with viva raw rabbit ( gently cooked) and squash. I hope I didn't do her too much damage. I feel terrible
I fixed my dogs skin issues with allergies by doing at home allergy testing and following the results. We avoid his triggers and feed only 100% real food. Absolutely no dog foods, dog treats or teeth products. To clean teeth I give dried tails and tendons. I make all my dogs meals. Underwater dogs products have been amazing for stopping itching. Phenergan antihistamine daily has helped control allergies and made my dogs skin perfect. I wipe his paws with a fragrance free baby wipe after every time he goes outside and wipe him nose to tail after walks, especially between paw pads. I apply an all natural paw balm to help his paws at bedtime. I keep my dog inside as much as possible and vacuum daily. I wash his blankets every 2 days and his bed covers often.
What to do with IVVD dog? My dog had a flair and went on prednisone then two weeks later he apparently had a new injury (even on crate rest) and now his back legs are paralyzed. So we stopped the taper and he went on more pred at high doses 😮
My 5 year old, 16 pound dog developed thrombocytopenia last December, one month after receiving her rabies shot. Her platelets dropped to 8 in February and was immediately put on 15 ml of prednisone. She was gradually weaned off by August and within a week had a relapse where her platelets were at 30. She was immediately put back on 15ml of prednisone and Atopcia .035 twice a day. She is being weaned far more quickly off the prednisone and is at 5mg and hopefully at 2.5 by next week. She still remains on the full dose of the Atopica. She has experienced hair and muscle loss and recently two urine infections. Her potassium levels are dropping. I have researched as much as possible but not come up with any natural alternatives. Is there any other options for Paloma?
My dog was given steroids few months ago and recently been diagnosed diabetic ,shes going downhill fast and not doing well on insulin. Everytime she has it she has a hypo . The vet put her on 6 units to start and she should e been on 2 as her sugars were at 19 . Im terrified right now shes coming out of another hypo after 2 units of insulin . Im wondering if she is diabetic at all but something else has caused the sugar to inflate?
@jelly3299 i love plechner’s book and he’s right. conventional vets prescribe doses to high. my cav was on pred for 6 yrs and lived until 12 saved her life. dr morgan leans conventional. spaying and neutering totally ruins the animals adrenal gland. thank you for bring this up!
My Robbie is having bad "low" blood sugars and 2 vets believe it's "Insulinoma" despite a ultrasound showing no inflammation in the pancreas. One vet prescribed steroids (prednisolone) and I gave him one pill and it did seem to work. Is there a natural steroid that would work instead?
He injected her but gave us tablets for home for 10 days . She started losing weight straight after the steroid ,she was just under 12 kg and within 2 weeks is now 8.5 and very poorly
What about skin cream steroids like barazone? Neocort? I’ve used barazone 4 times on my dogs paws only and with 5 weeks between applications BUT now he can’t stop chewing and biting his paws 💔😭 I washed his feet straight away but he’s still biting his feet
Have my rescue on prednisolone since June for his auto immune IMT. Don't know what else to do. Complete muscle loss on his legs and head. 💔 Which way to do just don't know

My kitty is allergic to flea bites. Had my dog bring fleas in. Third time she’s had a shot. No more !! Two vets lied to me .
What about autoimmune meningitis are there any alternatives to replace steroids?

I just started giving my dog Prednisolone for her itchy skin.. Should I stop?
I have only given her 2 x 1/2 tablet of a 25mg tablet.

How long is long term on steroids and how long is short term?

They want me to give her an antibiotic but I refuse.
Antibiotics ruined my dogs gut health.
Check out the Pet Health and Nutrition Center and look for their Antimicrobial Tonic. Their products really work.

Whar is considered longterm?
She was given the steroid because of itching and shed bitten her back and tail to baldness
Stay away from steroids. There simple has to be some other way.

No, Addisons disease is one of those where dogs must keep their sodium and potassium levels in check or it will be disastrous.
