I applaud you for donating deer meat. That is a terrific program!
And thank you for caring enough to donate to the less fortunate, I did that a lot when I was younger.
Cool looking bobcat.
An old gun is like an old 🎻 violin. The more she sings, the better she gets with age.
I know you like your 308 but them Marlin 336 with a scope in the woods are just as deadly. We all enjoy your videos, keep them coming please.
Be vewy vewy quiet, I'm huntin buttons. Enjoyed as usual.
lol ..you stoll my thunder
I commend you youngsters for using some nice classic rifles. Today, everyone uses synthetic stocks. I like the old walnut and blue guns
I’ve got a black synthetic 308 which is an awesome rifle, but I love the look of a blued walnut stock rifle.
It’s been a long time since I’ve been on a good old deer drive! Thanks for bringing back some really great memories my friend! Thanks for all your hard work bringing us these videos, they are awesome!!
6:56 hey there's a turtle...
I like the fact that you track your deer quietly like you are still in the woods hunting.
MJ Hoss i think in this instant it’s probably because he was trying to kill multiple deer throughout the day. i may be wrong but i think that would make sense
I could you believe your deer was a button! I seriously said to myself watching the video hey that’s a big doe. No worries though it happens. Congrats on your deer. Great video thank you for sharing.
I'm impressed with your button buck, he looked very big for a yearling...
Love the comment “something wrong with these deer. They all look like that”. No worries Catman and Justin, those are so hard to see, it happens to us all. Love the videos, keep them coming.
Pretty awesome Bobcat!
Those are big button bucks. I shot my first with a crossbow last fall and thought it was a doe and it was a button. You should call that place button buck island. I love your channel. Helps me get through the days when I'm not able to hit the woods.
I knew as soon as I saw the hock! all stained up. excellent video.
catmans new name - nubber
Fantastic job young man really enjoy your videos. Your helping feed alot of people
Glad you didn't beat yourself up to bad about it but it happens. I shot 2 button bucks years ago when I was your age. I was so angry with myself I vowed to get better at identifying them in situations like this when you don't have time to get binos on them. These simple tips helped me a lot, and more often than not are correct. I'm sure you know these, but this might help other viewers
Identifying Button Bucks
The nubs on a button buck often are visible with careful examination, especially through binoculars.
A button buck’s head is flat on top between the ears, while a doe’s head is more rounded.
Button bucks are more likely to be by themselves than other antlerless deer.
If more than one fawn is present in a group, the larger of the fawns is likely to be a button buck.
Button bucks are often the first to enter a field or feeding area.
button buck will have a short snout compared to a long snout of a mature doe
a mature does chest will stick out further than a fawn/button buck
Good info, you’re right. The deer being alone should have been the first clue, and the flat head. Definitely looked like a big bodied doe in the heat of the moment.
@@CatmanOutdoors sometimes things happen too fast man. I thought the bark thing was hilarious lol
Elmer Fuddin'.....Awesome!
Another great video thanks for sharing have a great holiday.
Great hunt you guy's looked like your were having so much fun, thank's for sharing.
Awesome video! Congrats on the harvest! That looks like the same area you scored the TN trifecta. That bobcat footage was great!
Nice job guys that bobcat was awesome.
The button blasters! Lol! I’ve done it a time or two myself! Always hate when u get to em n see the buttons! It happens tho!
Nice Work! Nice and tender! Makes for great jerky!
Really enjoy your down-home style Catman. Thanks for all your work on these videos. You have a lot of great knowledge and experience, and you share it well! Merry Christmas to you and family.
I love doing me some "elmer fudding".
Love your terminology. Lol. Elmer Fuddin. That's funny. Great video. Stay safe out there.
As soon as I saw it I said it is a button buck because of the flathead and I have a lot of experience with them. I enjoy you show
Good stuff Catman. Merry Christmas to you and yours
I always look for the white ring on the nose.. A buck has a distinct white ring.. A doe not so much..
When you can see the deer looking at you.. The ring really stands out.
Awesome hunt...That cat had some nice spots
Another great video! This time of year those button bucks look like a big doe. Binos...I never enter the woods without mine. 😁
Dang catman y’all hammered the button bucks 😂
Enjoyed the Hunt !!!
Good deer that happens to every hunter.great shot. Can't eat the horns
I wish I had a nickel for every button head i got while thinking it was a doe, lol. Good shooting!
Good vid! Truck sure sounds good too!
Keep up the great hunting and videos! I have watched them all. If it is legal for your area and state. Harvest what you can harvest legally and don't pay attention to the haters!!
You are the King of button bucks.
Glad to see someone else using an 8mm
Thanks for picking up that trash, I do the same where I live but its mostly beer cans haha! Im sure whoever gets that meat wont care that its a button buck, awesome hunt
Nice video as always. My first deer in 1979 was a button buck like you guys got. That was a nice Bob cat too. Merry Christmas Catman!!! Be safe!!
That was a good video.
"I thought you were gonna start WWIII", "Better post that on facebook see if its good blood" , best quotes of the season!! Lol!!
Catman ur a badass bro. No bs
Nice work man. I could have swore that first doe was a big doe. Never seen any buttons. Happened to me last year. Was on a freezer filling mission for does. Shot 3 button bucks. It sucks but I guess it is what it is. I couldn't believe it.
Catman videos cat! Nice job on the video as usual sir. The bobcat was awesome.
30-30 is such a badass gun!!! U inspired me to get mine!!!
Killed my 1st and my wall hanger with .30-30. It's a great short range cartridge
Instead of catman we are going to have to call you the button man.lol great video as always.
Button buck man! 😂
Good video congrats on th harvest
That Bobcat was walking with a limp! Personally I only shot a button buck for a doe once when I was in my twenties, and found out the hard way there is not much meat on a first year deer. From then on I glass and take my time to carefully identify my target so as to only kill exactly what I’m hunting for. That way you truly manage the buck to doe ratio effectively, rather than make it worse. Learning from our mistakes teaches us to become better hunters in my opinion.
Your feeding the hungry if nothing else. Good on you bud 👍🏻Merry Christmas
Good job, buttonman! :)
That was a serious blood trail crazy them deer are that strong
Great video. Nice does 😂
Nice video!
Where is the catman? The world wonders!
"There's a turtle" -catman 2019
Great hunt guys awesome video nice doe hunt lol keep putting them down and stay safe Merry Christmas
Beautyful cat brother thx for you
Dude that’s crazy I shot a 7 point last week in the exact same spot at 150 yds. Ton of blood but took me an hour to find him and had to finish him off.
Epic...
Someone in need doesnt care if it has buttons. Great work and god bless helping those in need! Keep up the good work sir!
Dang Catman are you ok? It's been a couple of weeks since your last update.
Figured the ole Dirty30 would be putting the slickheads down in bunches by now..?
Deer did look like a doe even had a long face.
Another great video,, dear Jonnie, loved seeing that bobcat, glad you didn't shoot it!!!
Good shootin "' button buster'' !
Hey Catman you know what they say here in NC if they are along they are bottom buck .
Happened to me too this season .
Awesone video, I might be a little partial though
Your new names button outdoors lol
Love it... you should post it in Facebook and ask if it's good blood
Where are you? No videos for a while! Miss the action!
You should do a video on the deers travel from processor to the hungry it would be nice to see the recipients of the donations.
just WOW! both them deer look like adults with the long nose's i would guess the were over 2 and a half. thats nut's
Nice
I could tell it was a button buck but the camera gives a better view than a scope.
Yes it sure does.
Catman can you ask Justin what size bullet I have a 1916 mouser and they are different than my 1941 mouser witch is 8mm nice video keep them coming and Merry Christmas
180 grain
I got a 1916 8mm mauser. And she is very loud can hear her speak miles away.
Love you brought up the fact people are so quick to get a dog. If they would allow deer to die no need for a dog .
Depends on the time of day, I had to use my dogs with the 1 killed with a bow this year, there was no blood trail and it got dark. Only indicator I hit her was her little ones were acting very confused. My pups ended up finding her for me.
@@usa-rb5fi not saying dogs are bad just sayimg people rush the shot. A dog isn't a guarantee find. Merry Christmas.
@@bofa1330 that's true too, just for me it depends on the time, also I'll admit I'm inexperienced on tracking 1, never had 1 go more than 100 yards. This year was my 1st with a bow, so no clue really what to expect on tracking lol. Truthfully when I found her she died of internal bleeding, I hit her far back unfortunately but at least got her.
@@usa-rb5fi welcome to the heart break club of bow hunting lol. Just take your time study you arrow and blood and visualize your shot in your head bit must important time.
@@bofa1330 held my draw too long, the 1st "shooting lane" was not a lane, so I flung while she was walking and almost out of shooting area, I "urban" hunted this year.
Great videos.
Keep up the good hunting.
What kind of canoe are you using?
Emotion Wasatch
Dang what bad luck on the button bucks
that deer was awefully big to only be a button buck. good cull
Cull? It was a fawn. I wouldn’t have shot if I’d had seen the nubs.
@@CatmanOutdoors its body size looked bigger than a fawn from watching it over a phone but you saw it better than i did
Late season buck fawns can get some size to them.
@@CatmanOutdoors well every states deer seem to be bigger than ours here in texas lol
Sad Sad again!
Nicely done video. Was that first shot self filmed? If so, I'm super curious as to how you were able to stalk, and shoot the rifle, and film the zoomed in shot? Seems like you'd need more hands.
Got some trees between the deer and me so I could get the camera rolling
@@CatmanOutdoors what was camera mounted on?
A tripod with a fluid head
is that a big button buck or a small spike? either way, great hunt and thanks for sharing
Regular Guys Outdoors I’m not sure, I should have checked the teeth. The nubs didn’t have any burr around the base, so I think it was a button that broke the skin.
When does doe season open?
Catman, pull the scope for next year...
I’ve shot two buttons in the last year one at fifty and one at eighty could have sworn they were does also with a 3030 oh well good meat 😂
Nice shot John from neighboring Ohio.
Curious as to brand and bullet weight you got that big doe with back in 2018 with the 30-30.
It dropped her pretty good.
150 grain Winchester Power Point is the only bullet I’ve shot out of the 30-30
@@CatmanOutdoors If its not broke....
Man that didnt look like a button buck. It had the body of a doe. I wonder if it was just a really weak racked yearling spike?
I didn’t check the teeth so I don’t know. But there were no burrs at the base of the antlers so I think it was a fawn
Jeez! Did it receive a couple of transfusions while you were tracking it?!
I saw thos buttons. Had a tan like appearance on the head. It happens.
I have a spot I call the nursery for the same reason.
Where did you shoot it? Looked like in the chest
Right in front of the shoulder
Hey man i shot 2 button bucks yesterday morning at 6:30 i couldn't see the horns thought it was 2 doe dropped 1 with my marlin 30-30 then shot the next one with in a few minutes after it ran off found him n well it happens
Catman. how do you keep your deer in a refrigerator to bleed out . do you have a old 1 the is a diy meat hanger or is it just on the racks. tell me sir or better yet make a video on it.
The deer bleeds out when it is shot and gutted. When I skin and quarter the deer, I keep the meat dry and clean, and put the quarters in plastic bags in the fridge for at least a week before freezing. Fridge stays in the low to mid 30s.
Wow that looked like a nice old doe to me. i was yelling SHOOT! SHOOT! it's just not your year with the doe's still good eating man. dont feel to bad we all have this problem if you hunt enough. me and my father have piled up the 7 pointer's trying to get a good 8! i even watched one for over an hour to make darn sher it had all 8 and it still had one broke eye guard ???? We can only look back and laugh. P.S. i love hunting with a lever 30/30 and think its the best gun for Vermont. if you ever come to VT hit me up and ill point you to some good mountains!.
