    Thank you for making this video. I was so jealous of the updated look of the 2014 and up models; I've wanted to update my 2012 for a LONG time, but was too busy to do the research on what I'd needed. This video was VERY informative. Finally my 10 year old 4Runner looks like NEW! Thanks again!

    • @wiscoutsidelife

      It was really simple. I went to an insurance-approved shop for the estimate. They uploaded the estimate to my insurance company and then I called the company to say I wanted to cash out and get a check rather than repair. They deposited the money to my account within a day (less my $250 deductible). I took the new bumper back to the shop to have them paint it.

I modified a clip that I had leftover from another project - I believe it came from when I removed the rocker panel and replaced with a 2014+ rocker. It works well. If you don't have something that will work, the actual part # for that grommet is 90189-05142. Other clips and screws I got from the original. Some are repurposed from other parts on the original, like for example the clips from the chrome strip work to hold the fog light bezel in the facelift bumper.

    Thank you for taking the time to create such an informative video tutorial. I recently picked up a 2013 4Runner SR5 and I want to retrofit my front end to the 2014+ styling right away. Many of the accessories I want to get require the 2014+ front end. Couple quick questions, if you have a chance:
    Can any year and/or trim level 2014+ 4runner front end be (conceivably) retrofitted to fit onto my vehicle?

    Question!
    Do all models from 2014 through 2019 share the same parts?
    Example: if I find a 2018 front bumper and a 2014 grill it should work right?

    • @wiscoutsidelife
      @wiscoutsidelife  2 года назад

      For the most part…there were some grille and lighting updates in recent years for Toyota Safety Sense and LED so you’ll want to confirm that. 2014 to 2018 should be just fine.

      I think so. I considered doing a hybrid bumper. Same mounting points on the frame for those and then you don't need the rebar.

      If you can find just the lens for sale, I have heard of people putting the assembly in the oven in order to separate the lens from the housing. But you can find a used oem headlight for around $100, so might as well go that route in my opinion.
