Man, the price is right with this pedal for what it offers. I have the bigger brother of the tonex, and I don't need this pedal, but if I can get the same killer tones in a smaller package, I could clear off some desk space. I can get down with this 😎
What I would love to see is the ability to do midi switching of presets. So say if I wanted to put it in the loop of my Helix LT to used for multiple amp tones and do all of the switching and the fx via the helix.
This thing is crazy cool! The learning curve seems pretty steep with lots of combinations to memorise, but I imagine after a while you'd figure out what features you need to access and what you don't. I'll take a powerful unit with a lot of "hold this for 3 seconds, then press this, then twist this and chant it's name in the mirror three times" features over something that's been purposely watered down for ease of use.
Pair it with the pot Express and you have a great rig I have the tonex pedal and an HX stomp but they can't be powered by batteries this is like the perfect quick and easy backup solution in case something goes out
Good clear explanation of the pedals functions. I do believe that it comes with a free copy of the Tonex software which will allow unlimited downloads of user created presets.
That’s perfect. After using the big one I decided that it was bigger than the couple pedals and amp sim that I’d mainly use it for. Plus programming a plethora of tones into presets within my midi controller became cumbersome. So at some point I decided I just wanted to profile my amp and stick it under my board. It was too big. So I sold it and got a Walrus ACS1. Now that this has come out I’m gonna definitely swap. Although the ACS1 sounds great I know I’ll be able to get what I want with the profiling also as a bonus I’ll probably make money selling the walrus after I buy this.
Sweet! I’ve been eyeing a Tonex pedal for a while but never pulled the trigger. This is a really smart move by them and 20 presets are more than enough for me. However… When I compare the price to its bigger brother you get quite a lot more when choosing that for double the price. Nonetheless, these will sell really well and I will probably get one and combine it with my HX Stomp for a small but powerful rig.
