rangers' pitching is really shaky. 3 key guys starting the season on the IL (deGrom, Scherzer, Mahle), and Gray, Eovaldi, and Heaney all have spotty injury histories. bullpen is a well-known weakness around the league and got worse in the off-season.
if they re-sign Montgomery they can probably make another wild card (their offense is insane), but i think Seattle and especially Houston just have more complete rosters on paper.

They subtracted Chapman and Stratton. 2 guys that were trade acquisitions last year (and performed average TBH), and replaced them with Robertson and Yates.
LeClerc and Sborz also got huge postseason experience, and should both be just fine. If they make one or two moves for relievers at the deadline again, the BP will be just fine.
The SP holding up is the only real concern for this team. The offense is so good, it's not even funny. Plus the manager is one of the best in baseball. Rangers will be fine. And they already proved all they need is a WC berth to contend..

They discussed it bud. Pitching is seriously hurt. They aren’t bringing back Montgomery. Evodali, gray and Heaney are solid but they aren’t nearly as formadble as degrom, max, Montgomery. Seager is recovering from a sports hernia surgery which normally saps your power the first year back. Jung is already on the IL. If the rangers play well and tread water the first half then they could be a dangerous team in the second half of the season. However, those injuries are going to be difficult in the early going. Also, they aren’t the best team…they got hot and won a World Series. The Ranger could very well do the same thing as last year. Squeak into the dance and then ride their stud pitchers to the WS. Getting to the dance is going to be tough though if they big to big of a hole up front.
