    • @estpst
      @estpst 6 лет назад +13

      In 2015 I traded in my 2011 Sonata with 35K miles, and only got $10K. The honda dealer said it was a poor quality car (how can that be Motor Trend gave it a thumbs up). Would I buy a Hyundai again YES, but would make sure to keep it for 10 years.

    American here! First off love the channel for the honest and real reviews about things I care about and i have been looking at this segment. Just looked up the Kona for USA and found that the Acid Yellow is called Lime Twist in the US and the vehicle has 4 trims ( SE, SEL, Limited, Ultimate). Just thought I would share!

    • @jbm0866
      @jbm0866 6 лет назад +13

      Adamlafi93
      Which brings up a good point, I've never understood why Canada and the U.S. have different names for the exact same trim levels on the exact same cars. And beyond that, SE, SEL and Limited are used by far too many car makers, and they don't always mean the same thing. For example SEL or Limited would be used to designate the top trim of some cars, but for Hyundai one means "one step up from base" and the other "one step below fully loaded"..smh..

      I do believe this has independent rear suspension, unlike the others that make do with the cheaper torsion beam setup. This probably explains its better handling and ride.

    I researched all of the cars in this class. #1. C-HR #2. C-X3 and #3. HRV were my top picks until I found the Hyundai Kona. A white Hyundai Kona Limited is the car I finally purchased two weeks ago and I'm loving the car!!! I must be one of the first on the road here in Dallas. More car, similar tech, solid build, tight ride, dual clutch 7 speed transmission (NO CVT thank goodness!), fast (especially switching from normal to sport mode, it's like getting 2 cars in one) and great styling all for less 💰💰 with a better warrantee. The only thing I see when driving are heads turning and traffic in my rearview mirror!!!

    • @mikeydiggs
      @mikeydiggs 5 лет назад

      Dirkadirka Dirkadirka got my Limited in black 2 months ago off the strength of this review. Didn’t even consider any of the other cars in the segment after watching that drag race! Not many Limiteds on the road in San Diego yet so I get a ton of “what kind of car is that??”s. Exactly what I want from my styling!

    Nice review as usual. That crossover has the elements all together that was missing from the competitor : automatic transmission or dual clutch , some low end torque for city driving and merge line, lock All wheel drive, great price for what you get. Great colours choice.
    The only thing people should check is that crossover could eat a bit more gaz than the competitor with the turbo model, but for that people need to drive it a bit and confirm. The style is not everyone. It may « swagger jack » the Jeep Cherokee but I think people that want this car will get over it

    I have the 1.6 Trend in 'Tangerine Comet'. Drove a bunch of its competition (as well as the '18 CR-V which I owned for a month) and this blew them all out of the water. A fun and unique car with lots of neat features and a Sport mode that's so much fun to get behind wheel on! The HUD is crazy cool too!

    Your review is what made up my mind to get a Kona. Thank god I saw this video before getting the Honda. Got a pulse red SEL FWD 2.0 liter. I'm in america, so the trim levels are different. Kind of wish I had sprung for the turbo, but I honestly don't need the turbo or AWD.

    Your segment on the different roof colors and trim levels got me thinking, "If I'm paying for a higher trim level, why don't I get to choose what color roof I want? Or what color trim I want? Should the top level trim option of the future be a car completely customized to your tastes?" Mass production and efficiency be hanged, haha!
    Love your reviewing style. It's a really refreshing and entertaining way to introduce people to vehicles.

    In Australia we get no sunroof and the seat belts are Acid Yellow (just imagine what they'll look like after 12 months of use). Also, the top model (which is called the Highlander here) is priced at $40,000. Considering that the Canadian & Australian dollar are about the same, that means you guys get this at almost $10k cheaper.

    OMG the open sunroof is shaking my theater walls! On a side note while you are highlighting this somewhat diluted yet popular automotive segment, our little family ended up choosing a Crosstrek hybrid. Actually felt more peppy than the regular petrol version.

      I own a 2013 Crosstrek and was looking at upgrading to the 2018 XV, but now I am seriously considering this. It looks like the Ultimate Kona gives you more than the Top end Crosstrek from what I can tell and it's cheaper. I'm impressed by Hyundai.

    Not sure about Canada but here in the states we can get a Ford escape with the 2.0L ecoboost which has 240HP. I test drove one at the International Auto show here and although it was absolutely boring to drive it was surprisingly quick. I'd like to see the Escape turbo vs the Kona turbo race.

    • @MythicMexellic
      @MythicMexellic 6 лет назад

      biggboysouth yeah the Ford Escape 2.0T is overrated it does sixty in 7.0 the kona does 7.3 but it still will be close
