    I've been carrying my mini for years as a EDC and mine goes down to the second brass pin. I have no complaints.

    I like the look of the Hudson Bay knife.

      Me, too. Simple, yet somehow very appealing. And I like how they feel in hand.

      @@michaelrizzo5523 yes!
      So simple but appealing. I can so easily imagine it in the hands of a 1600-1700s fur trapper. It’s not as stabby as a clip point/Bowie, but maybe better at general camp knife type of tasks. Seriously old school. And you did a beautiful job with your mods, as always.

    I just got home from a walk in the woods with my dog carrying my HB! I've ground in a clip point and stippled the grip as well as modifying the sheath to allow lefthanded carry. Definitely fills my early bowie needs.

    I'm a big knife fan. I hear people always saying a small knife can do anything a big knife can do. Then I say yep but it takes so much time , energy and patience. I'm also a kukri man, and Ive never had a reason to not take one everywhere. I love Bowie's too, and I have a the Condor iron path on order and should be here tomorrow. Can't wait to see what it's like.

      I'll probably doing some Kukri vs Bowie comparisons going forward, as I highly appreciate both designs. I also just used a reprofiling technique from a mini kukri I've worked on to make this mini much better. I'll post an update next week after I run more tests.

      I much prefer the khukuri for outdoor usage. Himalayan Imports AK or CAK 😂 18 inch for that since because of disability I cannot use a full size axe. I've felled trees in NC as big around as me with that monster, bucked them, split it with a hardwood oak baton. Burned it. The knife laughed at the tree and I as we tried so very hard to test it😂

    The Bark River Edwin Forrest bowie is probably the closest production knife to what the original Bowie/Sandbar knife may have looked like. The Rogue Bowie, again by Bark River, also seems like a plausible take on what would've been carried around by people at the end of the 18th century and beginning of the 19th century.

    Okay, apply a heavy coat of boiled linseed oil to the sheath,inside and out of the mini Hudson Bay knife. Then carefully work the knife in and out of the sheath. With a bit of work. The mini will fit into the sheath, just at the middle rivet. That's how I got mine to fit. Its also how I'm getting my Moonshiner to fit in it's sheath. Good luck.

    I didn't get the Mini and I don't regret it. I got the Bisonte and the Wayfinder knives instead at the time. Did I mention I'm a sucker for steel, wood and leather? :)

      I just did a radical reprofiling on the mini, changed the entire edge geometry, and I think I made it a better cutter. That edge bevel was just way too thick. I'll post and update after further tests. But I'm still disappointed given what I spent on it.

      @@michaelrizzo5523 I agree, you shouldn't have to do this on a new knife. I like many Condor knives and machetes, but I had to pick and choose as some are not that great.

    I used to have a Browning, Crowell Barker Competition knife, they're pretty close to the specifications of the knife that Rezin gave to Jim, for self protection..
    They are descontinued now, but you can still pick them up on the secondary market I think,, just fyi,,

    Wow! Did you order those off of Amazon? They seem like bad factory seconds. Both of mine arrived razor sharp. The mini has cut me multiple times it’s so darn sharp. I personally don’t like The Condor brand very much but I didn’t have any issues at all with my two Condor Hudson Bay knives. Plus both of mine fit perfectly in the sheaths. You apparently got some crapolla, blades. Condor needs to do better on their Quality Control. Jeez.

    • @michaelrizzo5523
      @michaelrizzo5523  Год назад +1

      I seem to be getting very mixed quality from them. The first two were very good, the next two were disappointing.

    I havent bought this one specifically because the price is too close. This one should be in the 40-50 dollar range.

  • @richardhenry1969
    @richardhenry1969 Год назад +2

    I never was interested in these two. It’s not because I don’t like the design, I really like it. I just don’t like the handle. Besides that I’m left handed. I can use either hand because of my training in kali but under stress I want my strong side.
    I don’t understand why knife companies always write off lefties. Seems they don’t care about us. They figure will just buy then find another sheath. Which I have done but nowadays with crazy knife prices. I’m not gonna waste money on something unless it’s useful. Many knives I would have bought if priced realistically I refuse nowadays. Mostly because I just can’t.

    • @michaelrizzo5523
      @michaelrizzo5523  Год назад +1

      Pretty much anything stock leather I've seen so far restricts your carry choices and forces you to buy or make a new sheath. Despite the drawbacks of Cold Steel's Secure-X sheaths, at least they give you lots of carry options. If you know any makers who give you ambi leather sheaths, let me know!

    • @richardhenry1969
      @richardhenry1969 Год назад +1

      @@michaelrizzo5523 I do really like the look of the leather over kydex like Winkler knives have. I just can't justify $400+ for 80cv. Brand an marketing make the prices beyond ridiculous.
      That's the only ambi I've ever seen. I don't believe it would be impossible to make a ambi leather probably just not as cost effective

    Far too thick for its length & blade height.

      Exactly. I just did a radical reprofile to thin it out significantly. Better. Update next week.
