Truly the greatest bands of the nineties. Nirvana paved the way for grunge and alternative music. The impact Nirvana created on other bands during that time.
Brandon Walker: Nirvana wasn't the first, but there the most popular. Alice in Chains was the one that paved the way for grunge and alternative music, since they were the first to debut around 1989. Kurt Cobain was more influenced by punk rock then alternative. around 1991 is when Nirvana and Pearl Jam came on the scene, but 1992-1993 is when Nirvana made there best stuff. for Alice in Chains it was 1989, and there best stuff was from 1990-1992. Sound Garden also came out in 1991, but it was 1992 when they released there best songs such as Black Hole Sun. you also have a few other groups that weren't as well known such as Candlebox and Stone Temple Pilots. i know alot of people don't mention them, but you can't forget about Creed and the Foo Fighters that came later. the band Tool has a little bit of a grunge feel at times, but they were mostly industrial alternative rock. but those 5 main bands i mentioned Alice in Chains, Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Sound Garden, and Stone Temple Pilots were the pioneers for grunge rock. they all had there own unique style and you can always tell them apart by there music. Nirvana has more of a punk style to there music, whereas Alice in Chains has like a melodic grunge kind of sound. Sound Garden had a power metal type of grunge sound, and Pearl Jam has like an old school 70's classic rock grunge sound. i would say that Stone Temple Pilots has more of the alternative kind of rock sound that your talking about. i didn't mention The Smashing Pumpkins and the reason i didn't is because i don't consider them grunge, i consider them industrial alternative rock. which is similar to what Manson and Nine Inch Nails would sound like.
Raven James wait man, tool were ,at the beginning of their career, Like a mix of metal and grunge (something similar ti SOAD genre but in someway different) and then they became progressive metal
However, if you listen, every band of the nineties were inspired by pixies (Kurt has said that several times) that in the last eighties were the pioneers of grunge
GreenL: Tool is not grunge though. they get put in the grunge and metal catagory all the time, but that's not what they are. there more industrial rock like Manson and others, but different at the same time, cause they had there own sound. System of a Down is Nu Metal like Korn and other bands like that, not grunge. as far as the the Pixies goes Kurt was a fan of them, but not every grunge band was inspired by them. as i mentioned in my other post, Pearl Jam has kind of a classic rock kind of vibe and sound about them. Nirvana has somewhat of a punk rock kind of vibe to there music. Alice in Chains has a melodic type of sound, but there alot heavier than Nirvana. and Sound Garden kind of falls into the hard rock catagory.

Alice in Chains was the first grunge band to appear on MTV in 1989. i know this, because im born 1985. you might be right about Nirvana coming out with there debut album in 89, but they never appeared on television at that time. the first time i saw kurt on television was 1990. the year Nirvana started getting big and blowing up, was 91 and 92.
Raven James in fact i've said: at the beginning tool were grunge but with some prog metal, pixies has influenced 90% of grunge music with their invention of melodic verses followed by hard rock chorus but obviously not all the bands used to follow pixies' example

You can it’s such an easy song to play not saying she’s good at it and she played in cursive version which isn’t as hard as the electric version but yeah you could only play if you know some basic power cords

Well she has a classical guitar so her strings will be nylon and judging by how much her strings move and sound I think they are 9gauge
