This build up is so beautiful on so many levels I can't full describe them 3:02. The calm drumming, Kurt and Krist's bass blending so beautifully, Kurt's distortion kicking in right the very beginning of the 3 count and more. Brings such a euphoric feeling
Damn I miss these guys performing together. An amazing 3 piece, Krist perfectly mudy in your face bass with his huge frame guitar down by his knees, Dave just an absolute beast on those drums like Animal from the muppets, and Kurt's pained and tormented presence as lead. If you were lucky enough to see them live then you know.
The track that made me fall in love with this band. I have to admit the when “Teen Spirit” originally surfaced, I didn’t see the full scope of its appeal. I remember thinking “that it was a great and heavy track”. But, I wasn’t sold on its hype. Then I purchased ‘Nevermind’ that year (1991) and among a track list of unquestionable classics, there lied “Lithium”. The rest is history. My obsession with Nirvana never swayed from that moment onwards. Thank you, Nirvana. Rest In Peace, Kurt. 🙏🏽🤘🏾
Reading is cool, but this is always the nirvana show i think of when i think of them. Cobain's raw singing, Novoselic's dancing and delicious lines, and Grohl's assault on the drums... The setlist for this show is actually insane.
Paramount is one of the best Nirvana shows for sure. And in the best recording quality possible :) I think at Reading 92 Kurt was in totally different "mode" just like most of 1992 he was tired with fame and played really slopy.
It’s just something about nirvanas early performances of lithium in standard tuning. The feel and the energy of the song really shows. One of the best versions of lithium and damn is it just so powerful. What a true masterpiece of a song.
This song on FTMBotW was what made me start playing guitar back around 1999. I thought I was a singer like Mick Jagger or something, but then I heard _THIS_ and knew what I needed to do.
I first heard this when I was 16 and it changed my life. Finally someone is singing about the feelings I have and someone who I could relate. Not to mention it's fantastic.
I think Kurt is so underrated as a singer. His voice is ONE in a Billion and it’s almost beyond expression, so intense, sweet, sexy, sad and all from one voice.
This song and drain you are the songs that put Nirvana in the number one slot. This song is sheer genius. He sings he’s not gonna crack but he did. Cracked like an Egg.
We were doing the periodic table in class, and when the teacher said what’s lithium I sung the chorus. I was very disappointed in my classmates as no one got it.
Lithium es una cancion legendaria una letra tan profunda que para algunos nos queda tatuada en el alma Esta es mi canción alegre en mis dias de tristeza e infierno
God, Nirvana, i love you, please come back , we need music like this today to save the world it's so raw and passionate and maybe i'm crazy but I can't go one day without hearing a Nirvana song and hearing Kurt's voice , there's just something about it that heals me and fulfills me like nothing else can - love you Nirvana - love you Kurt always and forever. xoxoxoxo
The first time I heard Nirvana was when I heard Weird Al's parody Smells like Nirvana. It was almost immediately one of my favorite songs I'd ever heard him play. I was right at the age where Weird Al is cool, and even though I hadn't started listening to music for anything other than laughing at Weird Al's lyrics, I was right at about the age where a lot of young teens start figuring out their musical tastes, and after first getting into Green Day and Offspring and Weezer, Nirvana was the next band I gave a shot to, and when I heard Smells like teen spirit I was instantly nostalgic, and for years Nirvana was easily my favorite band even though they had just disbanded shortly before I discovered them. All these years later and I still like that same style of hard rock with a catchy pop-like hook to it, and for all their ups and downs, Weezer is now my band, and in almost every album Rivers does something as a nod to Kurt Cobain, and I've always appreciated it and have fun looking for it.
First time I was so high smokin some weed - was given his music to go home n listen to . My friends had tried to get me to listen to it - way before he was popular - I refused . ☹️ But that night I was like dang this is so awesome - he gets it .
Y la mejor versión de las tomas porque ya habían subido algunas canciones pero con la versión editada en el 91, un canal ya había subido el concierto pero al fin el canal oficial lo sube:)
@@jackmcmullin8616 the sound is odd here, until 1992 I noticed his voice was changing as the drugs and cigs along with yelling slowly destroyed it. By his later 1993/94 he has that metal rasp which is consistant and has that damaged sound that actually sounded good (a bit like Bonnie Tlyer) however here it goes clear a little bit in places. What amazes me is how he sounded better and not worse over time and he never lost his breath control or sounded weak.
Smells Like Teen Spirit is one of the greatest songs ever but for some reason I like this one even better. My favorite Nirvana song and this '91 Paramount version is a really great live one.

Kurt’s voice is kinda shot in reading and the energy isn’t the same. Paramount, Amsterdam, and Rome are all top tier.
It’s just something about nirvanas early performances of lithium in standard tuning. The feel and the energy of the song really shows. One of the best versions of lithium and damn is it just so powerful. What a true masterpiece of a song.
