- WE ARE LEAVING FOR GERMANY// Hello lovely people, We kept quiet about our trip to Germany because we only knew a week prior to our trip that it was actually going to happen. We were about to cancel the trip but then the UK changed the travel regulations with France. It was so emotional and I shed many tears because at first we gave up of seeing our family this year and then I shed some more tears of happiness when we heard we could go. It was a real emotional rollercoaster which the thumbnail shows. We can't tell you how happy we are to be with our family in Germany and spend some time with them all. We took the train from Folkestone to Calais because it's so easy to use the Eurotunnel if you want to travel by car. So if you're looking for a great way of how to travel from England to Germany during Covid, you might want to check out our video.
We visit the capital of Saarland, Saarbrücken to buy a few things but mostly to do some typical German things like eating a Bratwurst and buying cake. We miss all those yummy cakes that you can get in Germany :)
Joerg and I used to have a house in Germany with a bigger garden and before we sold we gave some of the plants to our parents so they could plant them in a herbaceous border in their own garden. It's a little memory and so nice! We hope you will enjoy the video. Kirsten & Joerg xx

Welcome to Germany.... the english and the germans are a perfect match. No mentality is closer.... Anglo-Saxon and Saxons. We love the English deeply💓🏴❤️🇩🇪👌💋
I smile every time I watch you guys; you are so cool, calm and collected. A match made in heaven.
You both have lots of other places to travel. With all due respect...who has the time to see the world. Thanks for the priceless video made. 2024 best wishes.
I love travelling in Germany - the bakeries, the resturants, the bookshops, the Opera houses, the beautiful villages and the fantastic beer and the best marzipan in the world - as a tourist destination it's so underrated but all my travels there have been absolutely fantastic.
Hi to your mom! beautiful garden. God bless you from America!
Thank you! Sadly I lost my wonderful mother only 5 months ago (we posted it in the community tab) - it's an incredibly hard time because we were very very close.
What a lovely trip and how smooth and logical everything was. I am always amazed by the fact that Joerg loves to eat and remains so thin! Keep it going x
Oh my, I loved every moment of this video🪴 I long to travel to Europe one day, i’m an old lady but it’s still a dream of mine- Traveling along with you today, I felt like I was actually there🌺 Thank You Both 💐
That's so lovely!
I hope your wish comes true.
You must still travel!
May you could going wit a tour with a tour group. Please, we are never too old
Reminds me when I travel to visit my 83 year old mom. First thing she does is take me out back to her beautiful garden to show me how things have grown and her latest additions and yard art.
I understand why you are so lovely. You come from good stock! Thank you for sharing your family with all of us.
Thanks so much!
I have roots in both Germany and England.... North American 6 generations German...very kind hearted. Fun to follow your trip home🎉
The German pastries look so delicious! I still miss those bakeries. Every little corner bakery had better bread than you can get practically anywhere in the U.S. It was nice seeing Kirsten's mom and lovely garden and I look forward to meeting Joerg's mom!
So glad you enjoyed it Deborah!
Living in a small village, USA, I enjoyed this so much because I have never been to Europe. What a treat to experience your exciting travels and adventures. Thank you for sharing
Thanks so much!
Same here
What’s your small village? Having lived in some small villages as a child and now again but in Germany, I have come to appreciate that every “Little Village“ is unique and special… :-)
@@beccismith4454 I haven't lived in a small village. I do live in the US and have lived in small communities. I have never been to Europe but I love the quaintness of the small villages in these videos.
@@beccismith4454 It is a small farm town in Ohio. There is a small restaurant and a library and post office. There is a park where the community plays baseball. A beautiful little church with stained glass windows , also a fire station which hosts a lot of events like BBQ dinners, Halloween and Christmas parties. Santa comes parading into town on a big fire engine. Lol They also have Mother's day flower sale. There's also classic car shows up and down main street. We were charmed the minute we saw the town.. We live in an old Victorian home and have really enjoyed renovating it over the years.
Isn't it funny that I've never been to Germany and I'm from Poland? I've been living in Scotland for many years now and share your sentiment for missing pastries from my home country. It's such a sweet idea from your mum to keep your flowers.
There you are!!!!! Your Mother is absolutely charming with the sweet smile like you🥰 I truly hope you have a delightful holiday! Once again thank you sho much for sharing it with us!
Thank you so much! It's truly special to see one's family.
I love these england to Germany travel vlogs they are so fun!
Thanks so much!
Joerg is a lucky one, who can eat all those sweets and probably not gain a pound 😊
Joerg, and those with similar body types, may be able to eat anything but that doesn’t mean all those carbs aren’t damaging to the body. Sugar chief among them.
Hahah you only see a tiny amount of what we eat and we usually don't eat a lot so this is something special and a treat that we film. We definitely don't have that every day. Joerg doesn't all the time that's for sure and we exercise every day which is very important and part of our lives.
I was thinking that to !!!! Oh to be tall and a man!!! Lol and be able to stuff your face and not gain a pound!!!! cry cry cry !!!!! My favourite place, in Germany is, Aachen, I always vist Charlemagne's Cathedral. There is a very lovely antique book shop, near there. The gentleman who owns the shop is so lovely and some of the books are from 1700. Last time I was there, I bought Snow White and Rose Red, a German fairy story, I loved when I was a child.
@@mimilion6072 I always loved that fairy story, too! I think I identified with Red! I worked in Aachen once, the Dom is stunning, isn’t it?
You guys are so awesome and calming. There nothing calming in America these days
Thanks so much!
Fantastic journey.. thank you.
I will see my Mum this Saturday. After two years! Fingers crossed so nothing goes wrong. Have a great time!
Have a wonderful reunion! I hope to see my parents in a couple of months too xx
Wishing you the best time with your Mum!
Germany is just beautiful! My daughter went with school and said it's stunning!
How lovely to “meet” your Mum!. I’d say that she has green fingers, the garden is so pretty. Looking forward to seeing you again soon, happy holiday!
Good for you! Haven’t seen my son for 3 years. I miss him. COVID has complicated things. Enjoy your trip!
Agree! Family fills up the space missing in my heart when I don’t see them.
Inshallah you will see him Soon💞
That is so hard, we so hope you will be able to see your son soon.
wow Rhona, three years?! I thought just over 2 was bad enough! fingers crossed you get to see them soon.x
I know how you feel, I’m in the US and I haven’t seen my mom in Germany for 3 years! 🥲
Thank you Kirsten and Joerg for taking us on your trip back to Germany and for sharing all aspects of your trip and family, we appreciate it so much.
Случайно появился ролик с вашими путешествиями в ютубе. И теперь я часто путешествую вместе с вами. Большая вам благодарность за прекрасные живые картины. У Вас Kirsten , очень милая мама. Мира Вам и благополучия.
Thank you so much!
I'm really astonished about the facility of a tunnel travelling thing 😍 It's amazing. Love Germany with its Gothic architecture, and you're so special lady, I admire your way of living life.
I love your dimples, they are do cute❤
Love this, saw the last one and still interesting. Thanks, homesick for Germany, but very very luckily a new bakery just opened in my little U.S southern town that is owned operated and run by a German baker!!!!! Looking forward to your next video.
Awww the happiness of being on home ground is so visible in your voice, it's great to see that.
Thanks so much!
I have to tell you that when you showed the bakery my mouth started watering! How I miss those German bakeries. I was trying to think of my favorite pastry but had such a hard time, I love it all! But my favorite street food has to be Nurnberger bratwurst. I would gladly give my right hand for a month in Germany.
I can tell from your expression how happy you guys are... So glad to see this vlog, God Bless you all!
Thank you so much!
So glad to see that you can be with your families in Germany. The baked goods looked wonderful. Much better than the ones I remember in Dusseldorf. Have a wonderful time. Look forward to your next video.
We lived in Germany for 4 years and love it. One of my fondest memories was going to the bakery on Sunday afternoon to buy cakes to enjoy with afternoon tea. Watching your video I could actually recall the aroma that greeted you as you entered the bakery I have never found cakes and pastries as delicious as we had in Germany!
We lived in Hamburg and we often took to our visiting friends to Lubeck. The beauty and history makes it a very special, interesting place to share with everyone.
I look forward to seeing Germany through your camera. It’s been too long since I was there. (1998)
Enjoy your time with family and friends.
So happy to hear that you had a lovely stay in Germany. We love Lübeck as well and have family there, my mother lived there.
Kirsten & Jeorg! Hello or Howdy from Texas. By happy RUclips algorithm magic we had your videos pop up on our feed and tempt us with English delights. The last time we visited England was 2009 and our youngest was only3. She has no vivid memory of it from then but since has fallen for English countryside and villages by way of all the shows y’all mention: Doc Martin, all Jane Austen, James Herriot, Bronte Sisters, Downton Abbey, and Poldark. Nearly all the faves you two mention. All that to say “THANK YOU!” For inviting us into your lives and trips. Lord willing one day she will be able to see all the beautiful sights you have shown her and know them for herself. God bless you both and your traveling!
Oh! Sorry, I meant: Joerg
Thank you so much Jennifer.
You two are so delightful, like old friends now. Enjoy your visit....Moms are so special and yours is a doll.
I honestly don’t know how the German people can stay thin with all the elegant food, pastries and beautiful breads. So very tempting! How can you resist?❤I’m hooked on your videos. ❤ from Arizona!❤
Thanks so much!
I loved the trip, looking around the village, bakeries, and seeing your lovely mother who has taken care of your plants.
Thanks so much!
Enjoyed every minute. Love traveling
Love Erwin! Adorable at home in a beautiful garden. The bakery was so enticing. I wish that type of bread was available in the U.S.
My goodness! How amazing...traveling in your car in a train! Ingenious...
Loved your passage through the euro tunel. I' a Brazilian and I have used Euro astar many times when traveling from France to England. So nice.
That's really amazing, a train for cars! I know about ferries that carry cars over water, but I've never seen a car train before!
Just stumbled onto your RUclips channel and what a delightful couple you are. So very interesting to hear the differences between the UK and Germany. I’ve never seen, much less heard of a train for cars and trucks! Amazing!! 9m from the USA . Never been to the UK/Germany. Really enjoying your travel videos. You are both soft spoken and informative. A pleasure to listen to and watch. 💕👍🏻💥
Thank you so much!
The train goes under the English Channel. A 20 mile stretch of sea between the UK and Europe.
@@sarahwhyld5596 Yes, a great way to travel. The UK is part of Europe though. Wishing you a wonderful week.x
I bought about a month’s worth of bread and cakes today, in Gelsenkirchen-not sooo pretty, but one of the best bakeries I have ever been in in Germany! I’m hungry now again, watching your videos…!
Thank you so much for bringing us along! How wonderful to see your darling Mama, Kirsten. I enjoyed the train trip and seeing the fabulous bakery. I’m looking forward to tagging along on your next adventure 🤗
Wonderful. Happy for you both. Hope we get to "meet" Joerg's mom. Enjoy , enjoy.
Oh how exciting! I'm so happy that you got to go home to visit family. I have never seen a train like that... How interesting! The food looks great, the town is very quaint and the flowers are beautiful. Sending blessings to You, Momma and family too❤️ Looking forward to more vacation videos!
Wooo hoooo! I am from Metz and leaving now in London. You remind me so many wonderful memories from home!!! Oh my mouth is watering just thinking about Apfel strudel, schwarzwalder, streusel, stollen,...!!! Have a fantastic time xxx
Loved this " poor man's trip to Germany". I remember the first time I went to Germany as a student in 1969 and discovering "Amerikaner" and "Koelsch" and so many things. The last time I was in Germany was in 2012 and I was impressed back then by the bottle return machines - how easy it was. I love watching your trips - in either country. Now off to bake Zwetschgendatschi!
I've always heard how clean the streets in Germany are. My goodness, they're squeaky clean!
So fascinating! I live in the States so the idea of a car on a train is new to me! Thanks!
Enjoy your vacation!!!! Your Mom is so sweet!!!!
Moin moin aus Celle, ja , Heimatgefühle sind etwas ganz Besonderes!👍👏 Dieser heutige Beitrag hat mir ganz besonders gefallen! Bleibt gesund!👍🙋♂️

Thanks so much! Sadly I lost my wonderful mother only 5 months ago. It’s an incredibly hard time.
I’m so happy for you getting to go to Germany 🇩🇪! Thank you for filming the journey, the crossing and the bakery and the little town. So lovely. You didn’t skimp in the details and I love it. I’m glad you have your plants at your sweet mum’s house. The dark color of the back fence makes the plants look even lovelier. What a great design idea. I’m glad you found a print of your hometown. Can’t wait for more!
