Thank you, Maddy for doing my pick! This was our wedding song and it is a beautiful one. And believe it or not it is on the same 1969 album as Whole Lotta love! So even when they were young, they were capable of love songs besides just the lust lol! Glad you enjoyed it!
This was also myself and my wife’s first dance song at our wedding. When I proposed the idea she cried because of the words. A couple of years ago I got the words printed on a poster in the shape of a love heart and got it framed and gave it to my wife as a Christmas present. It hangs above our main sofa in our sitting room.
John Paul Jones is such an under rated musician. The man is all over this track not only with his Bass playing skills but also all the keyboard tracks.
John Paul Jones, aka JPJ, is one of the great bassists of the rock'n'roll, or any, era, as well as a great keyboardist, arranger, mandolin player. Love this song, dedicated to Robert's wife, Maureen, from their 2nd album. Merci, Mlle. Maddy ✌🏼😊🎶❤🍁❤️✨️🕊
I second that! 👍It was because of JPJ that I picked up and learned how to play the bass, after having played various styles and types of guitar, the flute and piano for many years. The song that pushed me over the edge was "Rambling On" 🎶👌
This is one of Zeppelin’s softer songs. I love the organ at the end. So pretty. 💕🙏. Btw… this song is on their second album from 1969 (same album with Whole Lotta Love). Go figure…lol
Maddy, Thank You (and EdA1) for this masterpiece. The whole band plainly blew everyone’s mind and still do with the perfection they each delivered. Nice shirt top Maddy by the way. You wear it well.
Takes me back to my first year of college and my first college girlfriend. I knew of Zeppelin and had heard some of their songs. I had never heard this song before, she 'dedicated' it to me on a mixtape(yes, I am that old). The relationship may not have lasted but she did turn me into a huge Zeppelin fan. I went out and bought all 4 of their first albums(cassette tapes) then wore them out in my Pioneer Supertuner, in my car.
This is very early Zeppelin. 1969. Second album. Recorded on the run, catching whatever studio time they could manage between live shows. The main thing you're beginning to notice is that there is basically no musical genre in which they don't excel. They do it all, exceedingly well. They're the most musically versatile "major" band we've ever seen.
This song was the first dance at my wedding with my old lady. To this day, we'll still dance to it... even though we are silly with it now. Feed Love! Starve hate. 🤘
Plant & his wife married on November 9,1968, she was a nurse & had a more study job, she supported financially & his dream. He wrote this to thank her for supporting him, he did work in her fathers company, & playing gigs. He had a girlfriend when he was younger, she made him choose her or his career, thankfully he choose his career. He sings about that in Ten Years Gone, another beautiful song he wrote. I’d say that’s why Maureen sporting him, meant so much to him. Thank you for your reaction.
@@willyroussel3563 as far as Ten Years Gone, it was supposed to be an instrumental. I believe I had heard, they were playing it, & Plant just started singing to it. I’m not claiming that’s a fact, but I believe I had heard that.
John Paul Jones on bass and keyboards! This song is on the same album as Whole Lotta Love, their 2nd album. Hopefully you get to hear The Lemon Song. Great reaction Maddy!
Early stuff Maddy... I used to listen to it every night before I went to bed when I was seeing this one particular girl. It was on Zeppelin 2 and it's a masterpiece 💜
Thank You is from Led Zep 2 album 1969 and The Lemon Song is on that album as well which is not a romantic song like Thank You but still a good one since you assumed they did not have a nice vibe in their early years but they did .. '''Babe I'm Gonna Leave You''' is as well from LZ 1
Led Zeppelin have always been a diverse band musically... and John Paul Jones (bass/keyboards) was the only classically trained member of the band - he was their arranger and 'secret weapon' ... He is a multi-instrumentalist; he plays guitar, mandolin and other instruments but he loved the bass. Guitarist Jimmy Page, drummer John Bonham and vocalist Robert Plant were never schooled in music. Zeppelin's last studio album 'In through the out door' in 1979 was composed mostly by John Paul Jones, which is why there were more keyboards on it... The song 'All my love' was very poppy and sad, cos Robert Plant wrote it for his late son Karac Plant, who died unexpectedly in 1977 at age 5 while he was on tour. 'Thank you' was an early Led Zeppelin song in 1969 from their 2nd album 'Led Zeppelin II'... they didn't just want to be a 'heavy rock' band and crafted subtle, intricate tracks like 'The Rain song'... "Since I've been loving you"... 'Tangerine'... 'Ten years gone'... etc. Their 3rd album 'Led Zeppelin III' in 1970 was mostly an acoustic record w/ country/ rockabilly influences... Songs like - 'Friends' ... 'Gallows pole' ... 'Out on the tiles'... etc. Yes, Zeppelin's biggest songs were heavier tracks like "Whole lotta love" ... 'Stairway to Heaven'... 'Black Dog' ... "Nobody's fault but mine" ... 'Heartbreaker' ... 'Good times bad times'... etc. but there were plenty of slow/ love songs as well... 'Going to California' ... "That's the way" ... 'Your time is gonna come' ... 'Hey, hey, what can I do'... etc.
Amazing song. Keep up the great work! Just to note, that is Jimmy Page (guitar player) singing background vocals on the chorus. And John Paul Jones, the bass player is also the keyboard player (John Baldwin).
Not only does John Paul Jones play the bass, he also plays the keyboards. Love this song so much - very emotional song and it makes me think of my wife and how thankful she’s mine.
@@MaddyReactions "Thank You" is from Led Zeppelin 2... I have started re-collecting Led Zeppelin CD's. From the BBC to their live stuff, and it does take me back... Thank You, Maddy....
What a nice changeup at the end of that side, one of the best ballads they ever did. This song was amazing live as Jimmy Page took an extended guitar solo in the middle section, it was often face melting good and I highly recommend looking for live versions back in the early-mid 70s. My favorite Led Zeppelin album, it made them superstars. Enjoy! 🔥🎵🎸🎤🎹🎶🔥
Whether you were partying by the pool, going down the shore,or in your funky basement with black lights with fluorescent paint and posters on the wall and most importantly hanging out with your girlfriend figuring out what fits where😎Led Zeppelin was always part of the soundtrack to all of it. That shirt looks amazing on you Maddie 🙌🏼
This is turning into a classic rock reaction stream. I love me some Led Zeppelin but I’m looking forward to more music genres in the future. Many of the best bassists are Jazz … Stanley Clarke, Jaco Pastorius. My current favorite is Joe Dart from Vulf and Fearless Flyers
Such a beautiful song - and they're only at the 2nd album in (1969) John Paul Jones is a master at what he does. Still performing today all genres and multiple instruments - blue grass/americana to writing pieces for classical ensembles. Also was in Them Crooked Vultures with Dave Grohl. Thanks for the great reaction. ☮
Such an underrated beauty, Zep's most powerful love song. Maddy, good guess on the time period in their career when they did this, but this is still very early, 1969. To put it in perspective they broke up in 1980 after John Banham's passing.
SECOND ALBUM 1969 MADDY. THE BASS PLAYER IS JOHN PAUL JONES, DRUMMER IS, JOHN BONHAM, GUITAR IS JIMMY PAGE N SINGER IS, ROBERT PLANT. THANK YOU, ONE OF MY FAVOURITES…. LOL THEYRE ALL MY FAVOURITES.!! FIRST ALBUM, FIRST SONG, GOOD TIMES BAD TIMES. ROCK ON MADDY 👊🖖
Hi Maddy, it’s John Paul Jones on bass and organ. Before he was in Led Zeppelin, he worked as an arranger and musician on Donovan’s “Hurdy Gurdy Man” album. Jimmy Page plays on “Sunshine Superman” and John Bonham plays percussion on the title track. I’m glad you reviewed this track, and I like how you referred to the sonic landscape of the recording. That’s a perfect review, imo. Maybe you could do a Donovan vid for “Wear Your Love Like Heaven!”
It's from their 2nd album, the one with, "Whole Lotta Love". In fact, both songs were on the same side of the album. "Whole Lotta Love" opened that side and, "Thank You" closed it. Bassist, keyboardist is John Paul Jones.
Fun Fact: The lyrics "If the sun refused to shine" and "when mountain crumble to the sea" appear in exactly the same order in the Jimi Hendrix song "If Six Was 9." Not sure who wrote them first, but the Hendrix album containing his song was released before Zeppelin released this one.
Thank you, Maddy for doing my pick! This was our wedding song and it is a beautiful one. And believe it or not it is on the same 1969 album as Whole Lotta love! So even when they were young, they were capable of love songs besides just the lust lol! Glad you enjoyed it!

Beautiful song. Geniuses
It was magical growing up with these guys!! I've seen them twice! out of all the bands I've seen Zepplin was the ultimate music experience!!!👍✌️😎
Definitely one of my favorite zeppelin songs. Awesome band 🔥 🔥
Led Zep II is my favorite Zep album. This is a wonderful song, John Paul Jones is one of my top favorite bass players.😁
Me too, it had an incredible debut on the radio, their sound being crystallized after their amazing debut. Everyone loved their new sound!
Zepplin is like a box of Chocolates, ya never know what you' re gonna get! ❤
Some hard, some soft.
Zeppelin is always a great pick, thank you Maddy for another great choice. Still vibing strong, music is a wonderful thing to bring people together
You mentioned you like the bass part, check out The Lemon Song

It's always time to get the led out! Absolutely amazing band. This is before my time, but it's hard to listen to today's music when such gems exist.
Once again, I'm glad you shouted out the bass guitar. But yeah thoughtful and fun reaction for sure. I love this song so much.
Rock on!
Such a beautiful song and thank you for reacting to it Maddy!
It was a tribute From Robert To his wife maureen For supporting him
then he went and knocked up her sister.
He sure he has alot more kids than we know about
spot on mate
And he also penned the lyrics to the woman who gave him the ultimatum at the ripe old age of 16. Your music or me. Ten Years Gone
10 years gone is the Song My daughter and I danced to at her wedding
This is the most beautiful Led Zeppelin song, by far.
Any of you old folks out there remember when the eight track switched tracks about halfway through the song?
Oh man that used to piss me off …

70 year old checking in. Yup and I HATED that...

Beautiful Maddy. This is one of my favorite Led Zeppelin songs.

*Tangerine* is another sweet acoustic song. *Ramble On* is yet another with a killer bass line.
Great Reaction I Agree with you the Bass stands out on so many of there Great songs
Mine and my wife's song! It was 37 years ago I dedicated it to her!
My husband & my wedding song, over 39 years ago, a very beautiful song.
Acoustic guitar solo. Awesome awesomeness.
BEST love song EVER. Ever.
Great song. From their second album, the same album as Whole Lotta Love. Both kinds of love on the same record!
I played this when I proposed and it our wedding song ❤❤
A song like this just goes to show you can't limit certain bands because you never know what you may get. Such a great love song.
word is out on the street that i subscribed, and now people respect and fear me
😂🩷 I can confirm
John Paul Jones is the bassist

Robert wrote it. Came out in 69' on Zep II, so early in the Zep time. He loved his wife, I think her name was Maureen.

It was off of their 2nd album and it was also 1969 as was their debut album. That's classic early Led Zeppelin
